The author of Sarkicism, Metaphysician, has an amazing headcannon of the religion's story and of Ion (though I suppose it would be just "canon", since he wrote Sarkicism). In it, Ion is actually a powerful reality-bender, with the innate ability to alter physical beings (ie flesh) down to the molecular level. He was a reluctant prophet for his religion, as he originally wanted to simply bring the Daevite Empire to ruin and free his fellow slaves, but after finding the heart of an Archon lie at the center of the royal palace being used as worship via human sacrifice he used his power to "devour" it (it's unsure whether this was literal or not) which let Ion see "beyond the veil of reality" and realize the truth concerning Yaldabaoth and humanity. He then turned his mission from simply freeing his fellow slaves, to freeing all organic life from the "Divine Tyranny".
@@RVGmetallicasaw He might consider both Mekhane and Yaldabough as dangerous to humanity, as they are both gods that have heavily influenced humanity and life as it is known. He probably has a few problems with Mekhanism as it involves people, in his eyes, literally throwing away their humanity and flesh to achieve a higher form, which he would likely not like very much. However, he would definitely have a ton of problems with the inhuman eldritch gods that want to eat humanity in its whole.
@@datwitchyswordfan Metaphysician, at least in his canon, says that Mekhane isn't even a part of their scriptures or doctrine in any way. So the Church/Mekhanites are basically just their own thing that hold racist views towards this other group of people based on their religious idealism. Literally, the term "Sarkic" was a racist slur made up by Mekhanites and other enemies to describe them, as the real name of their religion is "Nälkä", roughly meaning "hunger" in ancient Adytite.

Sarkist and Mekhanite belief is some of the most interesting religions/mythologies in all of fiction that I've found. The god of intelligence and the soul and the god of all things having to do with the body, it amazes me how people think of these things and how deep they really are. Before this video I just thought the Sarkics were the opposite of the Mekhanites and they worship Yaldabaoth like the Mekhanites worship Mekhane but I was wrong, there's so much more depth to it. It seems that Sarkic belief's main tenet is to become one's own god. It favors the rule of nature above all, kill or be killed, consume or be consumed, stand above all or stand at constant risk of death. They don't worship Yaldabaoth, they both fear and admire her. They want to emulate her greatness in themselves, but it is in their best interest that she remains contained.
I've never been a DM, but every time you guys post a sarkist or mechanite video, I keep thinking it would be really cool to run a campaign where they're at war with each other and the players pick a side to assist.
A thought: what if the fall of the Kalmaktama was planned? Think about it. Yaldaboath theoretically created all of existence to sacrifice it for its own power. Would it not make sense, then, for Grand Karcist Ion to do something similar? In Ion’s quest to ascend to the level of or consume Yaldaboath, wouldn’t it make sense for them to also sacrifice their creation, in this case the empire they built, so that Ion would become stronger and more godlike? Just a thought.
I have been wanting to see a video of Sarkicism for a while. They were the least I was knew about and like magic you brought it to me when I was thinking I was never going to learn more! Thank you!
Can’t believe you guys totally left out the Klavigars, the top 4 commanders of Ion. His relationship to his Klavigars is part of what makes Ion such an interesting character. According to what I read, the real name of the religion or at least the original one that the proto-sarckist cults still use is "Nälkä". They didn't talk about the Klavigar either, though well, considering they're basically the biggest figures in their religion since Ion disappeared, they have a lot of appearances as SCPs, so maybe they'll talk about them later.

Well you know as good as someone trying to reassemble the God who split apart specifically to trap the evil flesh god, thus disassembling the trap and releasing evil flesh god
No. Sarkicism is split into Neo sarkites who are evil and worship Yaldabaoth and the Old Sarkites who worship Ion and do not harm people. Ion himself was a liberator of mankind
Yeah, their rivalry is very one-sided, as the CoTBG sees the Sarkics as their divine adversaries, while the Sarkics just don't really care about them and just want them to leave them alone.
@@mattderogatory4068 Well yes, according to the lore Mekhane did trap Yaldabaoth in a cage constructed of it's own body. However, the biggest misunderstanding with Sarkicism is that they worship Yaldabaoth, when in reality they do not. In fact, they hate gods and believe that all they want is to use mortals as their puppets and sustenance. According to Sarkic legend, Ion transcended the physical realm to fight Yaldabaoth in its own territory and kill it, thereby freeing the universe from the "Divine Tyranny". Sarkics differ on how Ion is viewed after this, some think he will destroy Yaldabaoth and return to bring the world into a utopia, some think he failed to kill it and died, and a few even have doubt that Ion even existed at all.
Am I tripping, or are there actually quite a few themesand plot points in common between the stories of Ion and Hohenheim's from the _Fullmetal Alchemist_ manga and anime? Both were born slaves for an advanced civilisation that has since mysteriously disappeared/been destroyed; Both were so clever that they were iven unique responsibilities, thanks to which they got to somehow learn magic (*)- something that no slave was ever in a position to even come close to doing. Both used their newly acquired skills to free themselves and destroy the ruling class, notably through the use of mass human sacrifice in order to gain power. Both should be prominently featured in history books, but neither is *at all* - and when they *are* mentioned somewhere, it's in details so vague and divergent as to make them seem to be mythological characters rather than Historical figures. - . Yeah? Right... right? (*) Yeah, yeah, I know... -but Alchemy in _FMA_ is waaaay more magic masquerading as science, and you know it! It's kinda like if Deepak Choprah was actually right about the bullshit he spouts...! Imagine the fucking menace! vague
I am not sure about the visuals. If I understood it correctly this all plays several decades BCE. But the video shows more of a medieval European looking style with Kings, castles and even Christian crosses in a time where the Hittite empire and the Assyrians still existed and Christ wasn't born yet. Otherwise it is a very cool video.
@Karis Draws - there is a lot of reality warping and time bending around the Daevite Empire, depending on the canon ofc. The Church of the Broken God had mech suits and nuclear power, the Daeva have an anomolous book (now in foundation custody) that can rewrite the past (even copies have the same power) when it come into contact with, I think human blood, but it might be any liquid--long time since I've read that one. Eventually, when the book is completed, it will fully rewtite the past and undo the overthrow of the Daeva. But anyway, tl;dr, there are a lot of different authors and a lot of canon out there, with the general gist seeming to be: there have been many cycles of civilisation -> collapse -> rebuild, and technologies and cultures have been recreated/reinvented along similar lines each time.
@@c_karis_1 - Possibly yes. It depends on the author. In much of the SCP canon human civilisations have risen and fallen MANY times, with similar if not identical characteristics. Even alternate Earths in SCP have the similar histories. SCP is a pretty fun ride. Everything is up to the author.

Not to be confused with "cynicism" despite the similarities...
good job
As a rule of thumb - The Church of the Broken god are the good guys - The Sarrkics are the Gross Meat people
Well you know as good as someone trying to reassemble the God who split apart specifically to trap the evil flesh god, thus disassembling the trap and releasing evil flesh god
No. Sarkicism is split into Neo sarkites who are evil and worship Yaldabaoth and the Old Sarkites who worship Ion and do not harm people. Ion himself was a liberator of mankind
Delete sarkicism by using the incomplete chronicle of the Davites
I mean, the book kinda just brushed past them while rewriting history didn't it?
still asking for you to cover Apotheosis.
I honestly Sarkicism was the rival church to the church of the broken god, but I guess not
Yeah, their rivalry is very one-sided, as the CoTBG sees the Sarkics as their divine adversaries, while the Sarkics just don't really care about them and just want them to leave them alone.
But what I meant was the one that mekane trapped was the god of flesh they worship/fear
@@NolanRyanVA oh, sorry, I typed that on my phone, and I didn’t see your message when I tried clarifying, but thanks!

Kalmaktama.. nice sanskrit touch there.
Am I tripping, or are there actually quite a few themesand plot points in common between the stories of Ion and Hohenheim's from the _Fullmetal Alchemist_ manga and anime?
Both were born slaves for an advanced civilisation that has since mysteriously disappeared/been destroyed;
Both were so clever that they were iven unique responsibilities, thanks to which they got to somehow learn magic (*)- something that no slave was ever in a position to even come close to doing.
Imagine the fucking menace! vague
Please do all the religions in the SCP universe
Is it possible for you guys to do a lore video about pandoras box and all its stories
@@ajmeyers5661 So you mean there is a reality in which the ancient bronze age civilizations looked what we consider Medieval European?
@@c_karis_1 - Possibly yes. It depends on the author. In much of the SCP canon human civilisations have risen and fallen MANY times, with similar if not identical characteristics. Even alternate Earths in SCP have the similar histories.
SCP is a pretty fun ride. Everything is up to the author.
There is an easy way to kill scp 096 we can bring cain and can can look at it face and when scp 096 tries to kill cain it will die
