      The cottage is a constant reminder of our past and of our future although we own the cottage we feel like custodians of it it’s head over 600 years worth of history and of people living in it and now we’re gonna look out for it for such a short time in its lifespan, but we have to make sure that we maintain it and keep it looking this beautiful but hopefully 600 years more to come

    Heidi, your garden is amazing and beautiful. I agree that no one should feel guilty about what they can't get done. Our gardens should always bring joy and peace. Though hard work is inevitable, hopefully its a labor of love. I hope I'm not being too forward, but you mentioned your health and hip pain - so I wanted to say, I used to have terrible pain in my feet, almost to the point I couldn't walk and it was starting to impact my gardening. I found the cure in cutting out all sugar and vegetables and fruits. Veggies and fruit have oxaltes in them which can build up in our bodies over time and cause severe inflammation. As for the sugar in our diets, it's the underlying cause of all the modern diseases that humanity struggles with. It also causes inflammation, which causes pain. Back in December, I decided to challenge myself to eat no bread, no pasta, no fast food, no processed food, no fruit, no vegetables. Only water, eggs, dairy, and meat. (Well, I still drank my coffee with cream, but no sugar). For 30 days, i wanted to see if i could do it. 5 months later I am still doing it because I feel so amazing. Not only is my pain gone, I lost 25 lbs (approx 12 kgs I think), and I sleep better, and my mind is clearer, I have more energy. My teeth and gums have gotten better, I believe my nutrition is simply far superior now. I primarily eat steak cooked in butter because that's my favorite. But any animal products that you feel like eating are fine. They won't raise your blood sugar. Hopefully, I'm not offending you, I've only seen this one video, so I don't know much about you. But I really believe this might help you. If you're interested to learn more, there are tons of resources on UA-cam, but I would start with videos by Dr. Ken Berry.

      Thank you so much for adding all the information for me in the comment section. I’ve literally read it all written down some notes and I’m going to do some research. I do have a reasonably low sugar diet however I do eat a lot of carbs. I’m a bit round round the middle and I’ve put that on since the menopause I imagine I’m probably eating far too much than I should. I love a glass of water and I drink my tea without milk. I’m only eat butter not margarine but I have got this really sinking feeling. I might have diabetes too much information here but smelly urine and waking up in the night very very thirsty either that or I’m probably eating too many greens ,hip pain it’s just aggravating I was born with hip problems but my lower legs, knees, ankles and feet are giving me chronic pain and everything you said makes sense so I’m going to do a bit of research and I’ll let you guys know if I’m going to follow a stricter diet as you are. I quite like the idea of losing a few pounds or two and I certainly need it. Thank you so much for popping into this video and I hope you stay around and you like what you see many thanks bye-bye.

      You’re so welcome I love sharing this garden and if I can share one tip that is just pack your borders with as much prettiness as you possibly can. That way the weeds get suppressed and you don’t feel quite so bad about the weeds when they do put their heads up because you can pluck them out she says looking at a garden full of weeds But good luck to you cottage Gardening is easier than you imagine and actually I think my hottest tip is don’t take anyone else’s advice just plant what you want to plant where you want to plant it. I just watch the fruits of your labour bloom and grow.

      I am actually proud of the garden. It’s taken four years to get to this stage where I walk round it and I think this is what I’ve created. I absolutely love living here. It is a little size of Eden. We sit in a beautiful countryside and then the cottage itself is absolutely stunning so we are blessed that we found this beautiful beautiful place.

    I totally agree with you. Only do what you can each day and don't feel guilty about what you haven't done. I get a bad back if I do too much and suffer with arthritis, so when I've had enough I stop, take a seat and admire nature and the garden. You have a stunning garden, so enjoy your resting in between your working x

Hope all your little baby birds hatch out safely at the moment, I’m waiting for two of my beautiful bantam hens to Hatch out the little chicks. We are in the process of building them another run so that the girls can move in there away from the Cockerell who can be a bit dangerous around the chicks, but thank you so much for joining me from all the way over in the US. The plants are my babies but I also have my fur baby Lincoln and my actual baby who is 16 Archie to help me in the garden Lincoln guards me and box all the birds and Archie will do the heavy lifting for me, my husband does all of the heavy lifting and Graham work in the building so we’re a really good team and that helps my hip

    you are so right. Sometimes I get over whelmed with what I need to do. My nemesis is long grass in the beds and brambles coming through from other gardens. I also have sections and I would say 3 of the beds are ok, and 2 are not. The rain keeps stopping play sadly. But I tell myself even half an hour of weeding is better than nothing, and ahhh you mean the fruit salad sweets, they were about 4 for a penny when I was growing up. I hated the black jacks

    • @Thetudorcottagediaries
      @Thetudorcottagediaries  3 місяці тому

      I think all of our gardeners need to take time to stop look up and see what’s going on around us rather than burying our heads in the weeds. We also have a vintage sweetie shop not far from us about 2 mile down the road and they still sell the salads and the blackjacks and the And Ball and dib dab and flying sources You don’t quite get four for a penny now I think it’s one for a penny so a penny each but yeah it’s just amazing to go in there. Everything is in glass screw cap jars and it’s just so beautiful. I will probably take you there in a video up and coming because we tend to go there once of fortnight and just pick up my aniseed Ball and my licorice.

    Votre cottage est un pur trésor; j’admire la façon du toit de chaume, son« chapeau » si magnifiquement festonné . Cela donne un bel aspect douillet et protecteur par dessus ces murs vénérables. Les vestiges de la construction d’origine sont un vrai miracle de conservation , quel charme authentique ! Sur vos si belles briques blanches j’adore les peintures aquarelles de cette artiste, elles sont très poétiques et délicates.
    Il est navrant que vous ne puissiez plus ouvrir votre jardin au public; j’aurais aimé le visiter (si j’étais tout près !) Les herbes indésirables et plantes fanées ne rebutent pas les vrais amateurs de jardins, car ils savent qu’un jardin est vivant,et d’autre part il savent apprécier une structure, un environnement, et écouter la jardinière parler de son histoire…Et les parfums restent !
    J’Ai pendant quelques temps aidé à l’entretien du jardin d’une amie qui l’avait ouvert au public. Elle m’avait appris une chose : qu’importe qu’un massif ne soit pas au mieux de sa perfection, pourvu que les bordures de votre pelouse soit impeccables !
    Elle avait raison, le cerveau réagit à l’impression première d’un magnifique tapis vert et du coup, plus indulgent pour quelques fleurs fanées ou quelques adventices.Je crois bien qu’Il est même secrètement rassuré par rapport à son propre jardin , face à la tyrannies des jardins admirés dans les revues de jardinages, ou certains jardins célèbres , tirés à quatre épingles par une armée de jardiniers. Le votre sera plus humain!🎉
    Continuez sereinement à respirer les magnifiques senteurs d’un beau rosier, admirez ce que vous avez créé , vous pouvez le montrer avec fierté. Les connaisseurs l’apprécieront à sa juste valeur❤❤❤❤❤

      Bonjour welcome The Thatcher himself visited us today just to check over the Thatch and bring me some chicken wire so that I can secure the chickens with more mesh to stop Mr Fox from getting out them and he’s really pleased with the way that The Thatcher has aged over the past year we’ve still got one tiny corn at the snatching, but he’s not going to do that just yet as I’m sat chatting to you there is a bat winging around my head. I live in the most beautiful part of England. What part of France do you come from? We go to France nearly every year and we go to the south of France Santander in Spain and then we come into the south France right the way across to Normandy in a Volkswagen vintage campervan.

      We have a loose connection to Scotland with my husband‘s family. We are very much the traditionalist and we will only wear the old tartan not the newer version and it’s the Burnett Tartan. We have been to Scotland several times mostly round the Edinburgh area. Absolutely love the people love the food love the countryside you are in a beautiful part of the country if not a bit cold and a bit windy I’m a heart supporter that might not go down well with you and that is because I went to Scotland about 2030 years ago and I went to see a heart game and everyone made me feel so very welcome that I’ve taken them on as my second team I’m glad you like the cottage it’s utterly beautiful and enchanting and I think my love for it comes across in all my videos but thank you so much for commenting.
