Hi, good idea carrying the spare on the back, I always leave mine in the car stupidly. What sort of range do you get out of the X8 when climbing hills and off road most of the time please, we fitted a pair of new MK batteries recently but we are a bit disappointed with the results, it will travel further than it was with the old batteries but not as much as we were expecting. All the best from Wendy and Jon in Derbyshire.

Hi mate, roughly it tends to last around 3/4 hours climbing hills and off roading etc, however I have never drove it long enough to the point where the battery is totally dead but more so when it's flashing red lol hope this helps?.

@@gorillaman2584 That's probably about the same as mine tbh, but I have only ever taken the batteries into the red once and then it lost one red bar and had 2 left. Does the red start flashing when it is getting very low? because I have never seen that and it doesn't say anything in the manual about that unless I didn't see it, all it seems to say is that if you run the batteries right down low it can't be charged up normally it needs dealer software to switch it back on again. I have been thinking of ways to increase the range but the only thing that I can think of is a small silent petrol generator strapped to the back and a charger, which is ok when you have got somewhere and are not using the chair, but not very good while travelling. The latest x8 has slightly modified chassis and battery housings and will accept 90 a/h batteries instead of the normal 73 a/h and give 20% improvement, so I may look out for a later model second hand to give me more range. They have brought a new XT4 model out with independent suspension and better range, but with the X8 being £14.750 to buy now, the new model will be more money than that, so there is no chance of a new one for me, ever.

Hi mate, yes once it gets very low the red starts flashing! I have had it to the point where the battery is so low it just keeps cutting out, charged it up and it was fine to go again I don't know anything about it needing software once it gets to low? The bigger batteries will definitely be worth looking into, even possibly for myself.
