I first met Jekalyn before the fame at a revival when she was 11 years old she sang His eye is on the sparrow and just her voice changed my life. I was in my early 20s... suicidal depressed and uninspired... The world didn’t know her name but God told me at that revival in Memphis TN to remember the name Jekalyn. And I stopped by to say... I honestly wish black American churches will stop doing this. All this type of preaching does, is to excite you without building you up doctrinally. Years ago I too used to get taken and wooed by such preaching, but realised in 2016 that what builds believer up spiritually enough to do the work of ministry is teaching that is Christ centred{Jesus said "search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, but they are they which testify of Me) not circumstancial, motivational, people centred messages.

I honestly wish black American churches will stop doing this. All this type of preaching does, is to excite you without building you up doctrinally. Years ago I too used to get taken and wooed by such preaching, but realised in 2016 that what builds believer up spiritually enough to do the work of ministry is teaching that is Christ centred{Jesus said "search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, but they are they which testify of Me) not circumstancial, motivational, people centred messages.
