- According to the newest findings by Icelandic geologists, the fire geyser’s lava fountain, or number five as it’s called, reaches 300 metres now. Whereas in the beginning, it was around 200-250 metres. Additionally, the volcano is now twice the size than it used to be. The lava coming out of the volcano is around 13 cubic metres per second, but used to be around 5-8 cubic metres per second. We also flew our drone over Meradalir in the twilights, and it’s safe to say that the valley is changing rapidly.

How can you not love the Reykjavik Grapevine?? This is without doubt the best coverage of the eruption! Awesome visuals and awesome presenting!
1 dislike? I mean WTF??? ;D
The dislike was from his girlfriend when he crushed up the tephra. :D
Another great update from the Valur & Art team! How do we get then nominated for a Pulitzer?
@@russbowlus Ah, that explains it ;D
I have so enjoyed these videos it's brought me a whole new reality, a bit of Iceland, the volcano show....this could go on for 100 years and we were here right at the beginning, have a great day! ;D
My coffee tastes soooo much better while watching these videos! The opening scene is the money shot!!!!!
I just so agree with this.
Which is kind of odd, when you think about it. Usually that comes at the end...
I’ll show myself out now.
Those drone shots at the end were spectacular!🤩🤩
I was so happy for the opening shots; and then came the footage at the end. Start to finish, beautiful and spectacular.
@TommY SmittY I’m gonna go for it. I’m gonna keep it far away and not be tempted to fly over it.
@@DirkaJefe did you make it?
@@davidro77 I did! Probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life When I arrived in June, the volcano was blowing up big time! I chickened out getting too close with drone though.
Wow, that opening shot. Award worthy. I always enjoy your reports, and the filming(thank you camera person) Amazing fountains to see, thank you. Quite jealous.
I'm always waiting for Valur and TRGs' latest report! Very spectacular, informative and always humorous . . . great work team, and thanks for allowing those of us who can't make it to Iceland this majestic and magical sight.
It’s not a Reykjavik Grapevine Newscast video if Valur doesn’t say “it is what it is” ;). Incredible images, as always, Art! Thank you both for bringing us these pictures. As ever, stay safe lads :)
I was thinking that. It is a great outlook on life in general. I might start using it when someone asks about the state of my marriage....
Breathtakingly beautiful opening scenes of you standing with No. 5 erupting in background! Thank You Valur and Art for your brilliant commentary and footage. Drone work of volcano and lava river from high above is stunning. You guys are amazing! Thank You. Stay safe! 🙏
Best camera work ever. That opening shot is THE shot of the year. The drone footage is amazing, and Valur's presentation is always clear and honest.Well done to everyone involved with The Reykjavik Grapevine. Fantastic Work!
OMG 😱 😳😱
The beginning of today’s video - WOW !!!
Valur and Art, Thank You again for such Amazing footage. When you explained ( using picture of the Church, to Compare ), how high 300 meters is like, it brought it into a new perspective for me. Valur, I remember in one episode of your “Abandoned Iceland “, videos, you said, “Nature is in Charge “. This was a Perfect example of just that. The volcano is Beautiful to see but it’s power can be dangerous and must be respected. I feel that your program really explains this Very well.
Also, you had mentioned in RVK episode #98, that Engineers wanted to divert the Lava - is there any New Information about this happening?
A wonderful newscast, as Always. Stay Safe and please let us know when you’ll be doing another AMA. (Hopefully soon) From Arizona - We Love Polly. 🐶👍🏼🌋
With all the footage coming in from so many visitors, yours remain the best. Love the commentary. Thanks for bringing these wonders to our living-rooms.
Valur and his cameraman/woman have made another great podcast. Thank you
Wasn't too long ago that footage like that was only available from big production companies that could afford helicopters and expensive cameras with special rigging! Now at a fraction of that price, with dedicated people, amazing footage all shot and edited and wonderfully presented to us within some hours of filming it all. Kudos 👍 to you and your team, and to modern technology! 😎
I think it's understated just how much drones have changed film making. Incredible shots that wouldn't have been possible with a chopper as it would be too risky.
Wow! What an openning shot!
Just love your newscasts about the volcano. Valur, you are the man. The drone footage is stunning. Thank you for bringing this to us.
Who best to report on this miraculous event. You are the best man in place
The drone shots are absolutely incredible.💪💥👍
Valur's juggling skills are almost as impressive as the volcano itself =)
The nighttime drone shots are always amazing, thanks guys.
‘We need your money’
Valur’s ancestors used to say the same thing to my ancestors. Admittedly the T-shirts are better these days…
Best comment 🤣
I don't know. The, "My village got razed to the ground, and all I got was this lousy tee-shirt" shirt is a classic. The upside-down bumper stickers they gave out that said, "If you can read this, my longboat has capsized." were also pretty good.
@@kaydoubleu5802 best thing I heard all day
Considering this my daughter is probably glad she got the Polly stuff rather than the old fashioned ways. And it came with shipping insurance, they definitely didn't have that back then when Kirk Douglasson was on a rampage !
'A slaughter house for drones' didn't have drones back then ;D
Valur is becoming quite a celebrity in my house ;o)
Fantastic drone footage! Thanks for sharing it with us!
This intro is so powerful. These video's are unlike any other. Great job Valur & team.
I received the Grapevine lava box. The piece of Fagradalsfjall lava piece is awesome! It’s greenish with tons of gas bubbles.
So cool!! 😁 Happy for you!! What a treasure!
@@juliocean1331 I can’t travel there right now so this is the next best thing!💜
And I ordered a lava box for my best friend in New Jersey & hoping it arrives today.🌷
@@purplelava563 One day you will get there! 🙏
@@juliocean1331 My grandson is from Iceland so I am motivated to go in the near future💜
Such thrilling blasts and lava river views! The drone and photography work is "on fire!" so enchanting! 🔥🧡 Thank you
Whoo Hoo! Nice nighttime drone shots! You could do more of those all day. It's the first really clear shots I have seen into the lava pool when the volcano isn't fountaining. They give a great view of how much the whole volcano and the lava vent itself have grown in the past week. Great job! Take care of that new drone.
that night drone footage is amazing ... truly work like few have done ... keep it up ... the time laps and highlight video's get the young staff on it.. you just keep doing want your doing
"We have a ton of stuff and we need your money!" 😅 Love that Icelandic directness!
Always pleased to see another Grapevine report. Always enjoyable and very informative with some humour thrown into the mix.
Incredible camera work, entertaining reporting, thank you :)
Hi Valur, wow it's absolutely mesmerising to watch, so beautiful yet so incredibly dangerous. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
Great work, and yes those eruptions via drone are unforgettable. Have been following your reports since this began...all the way down here in Australia.
The opening shot is spectacular!! And love that The Reykjavik Grapevine, yes THE, just uses the natural music of that fiery beast - no music overdub - love it. Amazing again, Art and Valur!!! ❤️🌋❤️
Once again, huge congrats. Sell these framed pictures, guys!
I hope I'll see you there on Monday!
Awesome. Again. As always. Thank you so much, love you guys ❤
Thanks for the physical comparison of its height.
Anytime one of your videos comes up I watch it immediately for these insightful comments and really cool drone shots.
Really enjoying your video series! What an amazing time to be in the media in Iceland.
Magnificent reporting! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to going there tomorrow and appreciate the updates.
Thanks for yet a lovely episode of the newscast. Lovely footage and the sound.. The spitting and puffig dragon. Lovely.
I am a retired radiob reporter. Love opening shot and all the I info I am learning. Sound of volcano would make great radio. Thanks and appreciation
This is mind-blowing. Thanks for providing us with the experience online. Love from New York. Stay safe!
That drone footage is on an entirely new level of awesome! 😍😍😍
Thanks so much!
That first bit of footage is sweet. Now I will go get my coffee and watch the rest. 😀
Amazing amazing amazing.
My fav YT channel. I like it when they're showing footage without comments the last couple of minutes.
Bravo! Love your accent. Great info and coverage. I’m a fan. Wish for more.
Fantastic coverage. If it wasn’t for you I never get to see this. Thank you and your humour.
Thank you so much for all your efforts! Iceland makes it difficult for ANY other country to do better event coverage. You rock!
The sound and sight are just amazing. Soul-stirring, really. I can only imagine actually being there!
You said there were no helicopters, but one popped into view at 3:06. ::D But you did say they are not coming close, anyhow.
I had to stop the video partway through and retrieve one of my lovely Krem-Kex biscuits from your shop to celebrate the new volcano installment.
These installments have completely ruined me from all the others. No drama, no wind noise. "Just" tons of awesome scientific info and stupendous camera/drone work. I sooooo appreciate it! The night drone footage at the end - oh, my freakin' lord! Every installment, I think the night drone shots can't get more impressive. Then the next installment comes along. Haha - I guess nighttime won't be around much longer.
Wow - this drone has an impressive height on it to get that far up from the volcano! May it not be slaughtered! :D
Watching you every time so I feel like I know you now and you are part of my family:))) Thank you so much for your broadcasts. You have no idea how they are impacting me. Just pure joy to follow this journey with you of that magnificent volcano.
Thank you both of you. Wonderful.
I love watching your youtube news series in iceland. My dream in life is to be able to visit Iceland because I love to visit Volcanoes all over the world and I am so into the culture too. Id love to come visit as soon as i can save up the money for a 2 week stay. Stay safe and well. Much love n respect to everyone there
Wow, stunning! And the volcano looks good too! xxx
That was one of the best “Hot” openings to any videos about this volcano I’ve seen. SPECTACULAR
Glad you liked it!
WOW!
That drone shots are amazing. We've never seen the inside from this aspect. Nice job and stay safe
Thank you. The Grapevine is awesome.
Phenomenal opening and closing!. Congratulations Art and Valur on those spectacular shots😲😲😲💞
Higher higher burning fire 🔥
This doesn’t get boring everrrrr!
Wow. What an opening shot. Thank you for your informative, friendly reporting.
This is so addictive. Simply surreal. Thanks from NZ.
Excellent work reporting, with vision that ’s just spectacular. Thx so much from Straya 🇦🇺 ❤️ 🇦🇺.
MAJOR Kudos to The Reykjavik Grapevine !
I think that display behind him caught him by surprise! That was a huge display of volcano gas and lava. Wow really fantastic!
Wow! Those night shots are incredible! The photographer is doing a great job! It is wonderful to have your own volcanic display in sight at night! Talk about a Night Light and Night Life!
Thank you so much! Truly grateful!💥❤️💥
I feel like a broken record, but it's amazing how much the volcanic area has changed since that first video back in March. I went back and watched it recently and the volcano was so small and quaint in comparison to now.
Always look forward to your videos and they never disappoint!
Stunning work! Loving these videos Valur and Art, thanks for your time and skill in describing in words and pictures such a phenomenal work of nature. 👏👏👏👍
Great new drone shots! Some of the best footage I've seen. Such a magnificent site to behold. Thanks for all the amazing work you are doing.
It must be in your blood: bravery!
Those night drone shots, on my phone, remind me of working at the forge or, looking in to the embers of a camp fire. But, it's the "sound"! That rumbling from deep within in the Earth that scares me. Can you feel the vibrations through your boots? Don't tell me!
Awesome work 👍🔥
The greatest show on earth right now!
Many play the livestream of the eruption on their TVs here in Iceland - it's the modern day fireplace!
As always the footage is amazing! Checking in on the volcanic activity there has become a daily enjoyment of mine. Thank you for sharing!
The night-time drone shots were amazing. Thank you for posting these videos. You are my favorite UA-cam channel for volcano news. I like your structured commentary much more than the undirected live chat on other channels. Love from Liz and Ginger (picture to left) in Australia.
Hi from Montreal. Love your channel! I finally understood what your name is. The first time I watched your vid, I thought you were Greek talking with a Scottish accent. LOL, now I know. You're very informative and boost to Iceland's tourism. Thank you and your crew for great reporting. Salut.
Wow, what a show, no words to properly describe this
The drone footage was particularly good!
Very good video, very illustrative, thanks for show the world what's going on in your Contry .
Greetings from México City.
Thank you for your videos. The photography is amazing and the commentary is so interesting.
Excellent video, thank you very much for sharing with everyone. Amazing!!
Absolutely stunning pictures again, thank you. It makes you wonder what the whole picture will be in a week’s time, the same crater, no lava at all, a new fissure outbreak further along. Anyone’s guess!
This eruption gets better by the day. Nature is rewarding everyone for sacrificing their drones to the volcano by putting on a great show.
Great update, Valur. Great photography! Juggling with lava chunks...awesome
And that opening shot of you with the volcano in the background is the best ever.
Thank U for the newest casts :D I loved listening and watching!
Always look forward to your reports, and places around Iceland. Such a beautiful place.
Good morning from Virginia USA . Enjoy following your clips
Wow! Just wow!
I love the way the lava just disintegrates as it falls.
Incredibly beautiful; spectacular. Thank you for sharing!
Incredible footage with the intro being your creative best yet!! Thanks so much.
Those first few seconds needs to be on a t-shirt, coffee mug, calendar, etc. What a scene with that eruption in the background.
Ummm...Valur?
You casually tossed that tephra away after telling us your gf is collecting them! 😄 I fear you may get a look from her once she sees this episode!
It was the stones he said she's collecting, not the tephra itself. :)
Stellar information and filming. Thank you.
14:30 awesome drone footage! Thanks!
footage is best out there. thanks! new drone is good too!
Always looking forward to your reports here. Nicely done. The guy on the camera is amazing!
The flow of lava during the geyser events is amazing.
We can't get enough of it. Such a sight.
Fabulous videos, Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Wow! Your opening shot! It needs to be on... everything! ❤️
Thanks for the commentary and info. And beautiful drone footage.
UK. Here. We have your rain. Love the video.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of nature
Valur, we miss you. And this spectscular views from your cameraman (I forgot his name). Writing for the next eruption near the blue lagoon and Griendavik. Hope you are fine. Greetings from Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula)
I would be interested to see a map of the volcano, showing the extent of the lava flow. Your reporting and videos' are amazing. Thank you from South Africa
Incredible video! Good job!
