Great info. Don’t worry about being Politically Correct, just tell it like it is. The place I always stay in has receptionist who checks cédula in computer and calls me before letting a guest leave if I don’t walk them down. After a certain hour, the lobby door is locked so no way to run out. Another thing, although many guys want a trio and I understand that for sure but it’s a risky thing nowadays. Used to be ok but times have changed. All advice was great but #5 is paramount. Great job! You definitely know how to enjoy and stay safe there!

"They may be on a whole 'nother mission" Hilariously put, but so true. Those chicas there are beautiful, but many are masters at putting you at ease, then going for the seize.

After 4 weeks of holiday in Bello, Envigado, el Poblado, Medellin, I got out of Colombia. What a crazy place not all but many people are out to find ways to scam you out of as many pesos as possible. Tried the airbnb in 3 different locations one infested with cockroach the other was threaten by the host son in the next apt for complaining about the music at 3am 5-6 nights a week and the last was a total scam listed an address for a decent location apt. in Envigado but was brought to a completely different address at the time of checking in. Not to mention being ripped off by almost all the taxi drivers (not everyone has Uber on their phones) and short changed by many vendors. Sept. 12, 2023 to mid Oct. 2023. I also met these 2 guys from France in El Poblado at a money exchange place (I'm bilingual French, English and some Spanish from Canada) who told me just the day before got both their cell phone stolen at knife point in El Poblado by 2 local thugs in broad daylight on a busy street and no one had the courtesy to even call the police, not that it would have even made a difference.

Man... no foreign is safe these days in Medellín. I heard your recomendations, but there's no safety now. Even if you have a building security, they are buyed by criminals. I'm a Medellín citizen, I can tell you how it works. If you tough you were safe before, it was because the gangs that rule the city didn't allow to attack foreigns because they are great drug clients, so those cases of robberys were actually punished by themself. But lately, for some reason (I guess is because the huge problems Medellín is living because of the tourists and expats) gangs have ordered to target foreigns, and the police in Medellín is useless when we talk about organized crime. So, be careful whoever who think that by following this will be safe and well... this city turned pretty dangerous for foreings, specially US citizens and europeans.

Thanks for your response, hopefully anyone reading this considers this as well when deciding to come to Medellin. I cannot speak to what I don’t know but I appreciate the feedback. Overall it would be great for tourists to stay away it seems.
But because tourists will still come this is my attempt to atleast TRY to offer my knowledge. Overall adults have to be adults and handle their own decisions

@@ImNomadicallySpeaking yeah, with this I'm just trying to give an advice. By the way, make sure don't be scamed, lately many people is using double price sets for everything (even transport), the "gringo price" is basically a scam. With rent for example, foreings are paying up to 3 or 4 times more that the real and LEGAL rent that a landlord could be able to receive.

@@CarlitoVillarrica It doesn't surprise me. Let's say those french men got robbed 10 years ago, everyone would be worried by them, would be like "man, poor men, they came here to have a good time and got robbed, we should help them", courtey with foreigns was still into the society and probably many would try to help them. But, as there is a massive coming of foreigns, they lost the "special" attribute, indeed, they are seeing as people who bother because of the problems they bring with them. So, now for those who were robbed, the typical answer from locals is "well deserved, hope they leave now with this".
As a foreing you are by your own these days. Talkign about the police, at least it goes viral and make them do something, searching for not having a bad image with the people, they won't do nothing to protect tourists.

Think you are over dramatic. 1.5 million visitors just to medellin. It depends on what you go for. Drugs, pussy, probably raise yoir risk.

How can 1 and 2 be the lowest strata and 2 and 3 be middle class? You skipped 4. I dont think anyone should take you seriously. However anyone who does should go to Laureles. Leave Envigado Sabaneta and El Poblado to everyone else

While that is the typical Paisa pronunciation of much of that region, there are colombianos, including there in Medellin, that still pronounced their Y and LL letters like a y,, as in other Spanish pronunciations.
