    We love your content and you're helping us so much get our little station figured out. One topic request we'd love you to cover as we start to build our library and assets are tips and best practices for file structures and organization and naming conventions for audio files, music and all the other stuff so it doesn't turn into a complete chaotic mess over time. Not the most sassy of topics but you always manage to give us the info and keep us from sleeping! Thanks!

      Thanks so much! You're SO right. File organization is super important. I feel it's very personal to each station, though. My way might not be the best way for you. File names should immediate convey the nature of the content. I mainly use folders to keep different elements organized. Don't go too many subfolders deep, either...two max. Perhaps I can incorporate some of this in a future vid!

    After my real radio career was ended by automation and syndication, I started an online radio station with a few mates. In peak times it only had a few hundred listeners, I just assumed all of this was covered in the streaming hosts fee I never looked into it. We never completed all of the reporting etc and probably broke all the rules you mentioned. haha

    Thanks for the content on broadcast music licensing for our internet radio station. We will research and look into gearing up to getting our station with the right licensing this summer season.

    Hello friend. I’ll be watching your videos. You make a whole Lotta sense compared to a lot of people out there.
    I’ll be trying to get a low power FM radio station up and running. Some people see me as a threat Some low power station sees me with threat. Don’t see how.

      Thanks so much, Edwin. YES! Get that LPFM station rockin'. Anyone who'd be threatened by it is insecure with their product and doesn't want competition...BECAUSE, it means they may have to actually put some work in to give people a reason to listen. Most who are scared of competition are too lazy to innovate. Go get 'em!

    One big question: will what Burton Cummings did with his PRO against the current version of The Guess Who affect the Internet Radio stations?

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  2 місяці тому +1

      According to Perplexity:
      Burton Cummings' decision to terminate his performing rights organization (PRO) agreements will likely have some impact on Internet radio stations, but the extent may be limited:
      -Potential Effects on Internet Radio
      Licensing Complications:
      Internet radio stations that rely on blanket licenses from PROs may face challenges in legally streaming Cummings' songs. This could potentially lead to the removal of affected tracks from their playlists.
      Reduced Song Availability:
      Stations may have to exclude popular Guess Who hits like "American Woman," "These Eyes," and "No Time" from their rotations to avoid potential legal issues.
      -Mitigating Factors
      Focus on Live Performances:
      Cummings' primary goal appears to be preventing the current version of The Guess Who from performing his songs live. The immediate impact has been on concert venues and live shows.
      Existing Licenses:
      Internet radio stations operating under existing licenses may still be able to play the songs until those agreements expire or are renegotiated.
      Limited Scope:
      The action affects only songs written by Cummings, not the entire Guess Who catalog. Songs co-written with others or by other band members may still be available.
      While Burton Cummings' decision will likely have some repercussions for Internet radio, the full extent of the impact remains to be seen. Stations may need to review their licensing agreements and adjust their playlists accordingly to ensure compliance with the new situation.

    do they seek out small stations? like under 250 listeners per session?>

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  13 днів тому +1

      There's no rhyme or reason to who they target. Back in the Napster days, they were going after kids downloading songs using granny's internet. In my research, I couldn't find any info on recent cases against small internet stations. BUT, it doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

      @@RadioDJDude I just find it kinda funny that some guy who would broadcast to MAYBE under 100 people would get sought out. I WANT to make a station but it seems prohibitive monetarily when all I wanna do is play some tunes for people...and how does tik tok get away with it. I see guys DJing there all the time
