Properly Lighting a Backflow Incense Burner

- First locate the tip of the incense cone and light it. You then need to gently blow out the flame or fan the flame until it disappears. The cone will then transform glowing red and release a pleasant-smelling fragrance with its smoke.
Next, allow the fragrance to release so that the cone can slowly begin dropping the incense smoke.
Place the backflow incense cone on top of the burner. Allow the incense cone to run for about 2 minutes before the backflow effect begins. It is important that you open a window or allow some air so circulate the area.
Please don't burn incense unattended. Enjoy!

The key to it working with ANY backflow cone is lining up the holes.
I’m going to go look at the thing and see about these holes being lined up. I’m hoping it’s self explanatory. If its not, can you explain more as it seems people are still wrestling with it flowing properly. I’m gonna try mine.

I literally just got this for the first time a few days ago and it's the small one with three leaves as well as the cute small incense cones all lavender the lavender is to honor and feel closer to the goddess but the holder came with some of its own so I got some for free lol

Thanks for proper instructions on this item. I got my brother one this Christmas at a liquidation store and it didn't have instructions. This was very helpful. I see the taller cones work better.🤔🤔👍

Well it seems to me when my brother lights the smaller cones the smoke doesn't fall down authentically like this taller one is doing. You can only see a small stream and the rest goes wildly everywhere 🤔
@@angelsmyre4647 Thank you for your response. Yea I bought my mom one but with the small cones and it's such a low stream or goes everywhere. But I've also found out the cones don't even smell good, or the one's we use cause it just smells like burned smoke.

My brother said the same thing you really have to search on Amazon for cones with a strong scent to not have to smell that odd smoke scent and they are pricey. But if you can find them it's very pretty as this video is.
I love incense burners. The one I have is the one with 2 koi fish in a flat pond. Tricky to clean but I love it.

Hi Randon, sorry to hear your cones are going up in the air. This might happen if you over light the cones, or don't allow for enough time for the cone to burn down. Here's an article the I think might help you with lighting and placing the cones to get the best flow effect.
I also want to note, you'll get a more dense flow effect if the room is more still. However, I would recommend some sort of ventilation, like a window open.

same happened to me and then I realized I bough cones without hole on the bottom. those burn just like normal sticks.

I just bought one but from earth bound and i lit the cone perfectly good like one should and the smoke doesn't flow down it spreads in the air , and doesn't even work , i was not satisfied with this at all
Light for 10-15 seconds don’t touch it with your hands once it’s lit, they can get as hot as coal so handle with long tweezers, hold the incense cone on the burner in place with the tweezers when you blow it out so it doesn’t fall on your desk, sometimes you may have to put paper under the burner so it doesn’t stain the surface of your table
How long is the smoke flowing suppose to last for ? Because mine was only flowing for like five minutes and stopped while the cone is still there

How do you make it so the smoke only goes down? When I light mine it also smokes out the top at the same time and I’m sure I’ve seen these where it’s not smoking at the top including in this video

Thank you! I heard I should chat the sides before lighting the top but did not realize I have to line up the holes (yes I am finally getting around to enjoy my incense waterfall) windows open so smoke doesn’t fall all the way to the bottom before it dissipates

You need back flow cones, not any cone will work
What am I missing? You lit the cone and set it on the burner. How do people not know that’s what you do? Mine sucks! There can be NO air movement near it. No talking, no fans in the room, no heat or a/c blowing, nothing. If there is then it just blows around. It doesn’t “waterfall”.

No. You have to buy backflow cones. You cant drill a hole in normal ones

It's the same principal as a chimney, where cooler air is drawn in to the fire- place which pushes the smoke upwards. Here that process is upside down where the ember draws in the cool air from the top which in turn forces out the smoke through the pre-made hole in the cone.

I have the exact same one but after a while mine started making *Ting!* noises like a spoon hitting a glass for a toast. I'm scared and confused because the fire is put out and nothing on it is moving.

Same. From what I've read the cones that come with the burners are generally a bit crap. I like the smell of mine but they burn very fast and make a sticky residue on the burner and on the surface spreading further than the little mat it came with :')

also make sure your cone is FOR backflow burners. took me a while to notice the cones i were using did not have a hole in the bottom smh

No, buy the incense that has the hole already there. You will more than likely break apart the incense of you try to make a whole.... or stab yourself, one or the other.
I think backflow dhup is needed. Otherwise it is not flowing down

Why light it and then put it in place? - I generally put mine in place and then light it, as I don't want to be holding a lit thing if I don't have to. I only have the smaller cones, so this would be particular difficult for me to do without igniting my fingers.
