- Nick gives us an update on his 1947 Roadmaster that he purchased a short two weeks ago. Besides wiring, no gas tank, and a ton of other unknowns, Nick tries to get it ready to run!
This 1947 Buick isn't the popular Buick Series 40 super. It's the highly desirable Buick Roadmaster Convertible. Follow along as the Classic Nation boys perform a full restoration on this iconic classic car, and transform it into a very mild restomod.

I am82 and my first car in 1955 was a 47buick conv. I was 15 with a paper route and agreed to buy it from a neighbor for $50 dollars but on payments. It took 3 mo. To pay it off- $20+$20+&10 , after a lot of polish and junkyard parts like a complete newer roof and road master leather seats and a lot of smalls it was my pride and joy until 1960 when I traded it in for my fist new 1960 Lesabre, but it will always be my fist car and special to me…
That is awesome, Tim. Do you have any pictures of yours?
So glad you are leaving this mostly original. These have got to be rare. She sounds fantastic.
Thank you!
That engine sounds like a sweet dream. Congrats.
Beautiful, enjoy yourself!
I am a great admirer of the Buick 8 1947, it is a good idea to change to 12 volts. But for the stance I think its looking very nice and level. Its your car see how you feel about it.
Why lower it?? The stance looks great for a stock vehicle of the era.
What a wonderful car. It seems to live in another dimension. One question: can you drive with flip-flops? Are the pedals too hard to ride barefoot?
- Å fan! 👍
Thanks!
Hi Steve . That's wonderful . I did say give the straight 8 a chance and then decide if you really want to fit an LS . I think you've already decided that the engines a keeper ? This classic's a cruiser not a bruiser .....if you see what l mean . Great choice with the 12V and you gotta have music ! You're a very happy and lucky new owner of this black beauty , well done!
Who's Steve? 🤣
Yep, I think Nick has decided to keep the straight 8. It runs too good to consider yanking it out of there. He's actually considering keeping the 6V system now too, but we'll see!
I have owned a 6 volt vehicle, a 1954 F-100, and jumping from a 12 volt works. I installed a 6 volt, positive ground alternator and cleaned up some wiring and it started easily, and had bright lights.
Why on earth would you want to lower the car? It sits so nice and level now.
Damn thats beautiful.
Thanks!
