You won’t regret it I’ve had mine now for over 2 years , no issues at all and so far has shot all kinds of ammo including bulk . I keep it clean and lubed and it runs! Accurate too.

Have had this gun for over 6 months now and i LOVE it ...
The mag springs are VERY tight when new so you WILL have out of battery issues on the 1st ~2 rounds. I had to go thru about ~75 rounds per mag before they loosened up and i always kept the mags full of ammo between range trips.
Now ZERO out of battery issues with occasional stove pipes due to weak rounds.
But for $179 .... it cant be beat. And i actually purchased a 2nd one.

The KelTec P-17 is actually one of the better products from KelTec for the money. The P-17 can be picky on what .22 LR ammo it likes. Always use quality High Velocity 40 grain solid point .22 LR ammo for best results. Some will fire and operate with anything, but most need the good stuff to be reliable. I can testify that the KelTec P-17 is the easiest to clean and lubricate of any .22 LR Semiautomatic pistol that exists today. This is a plus. Good starter firearm for a beginner to use and adapt to Red Dot Sights. Good as a trainer for young shooters. It's only purpose in life is to have fun shooting and keep costs down.

Really like my P17. It is a light and fun pistol, and its small enough that myself or my wife could easily carry it while out on the bikes or running. Mine didn't like Herter's .22 LR. Had a lot of FtE's with it, but not sure why. Overall I've been happy with my Keltech purchases. Started with the P17, then bought the PMR30 then the CMR30. All fun and, so far, reliable weapons. Good video.

I'd love to have that slide minus the optic sight, just the slide.. I REALLY like my P-17 a lot. When I open carry with it, I forget it's on my side. When my friends wanted to see it, I told em it was like carrying a toy gun (lightness). One of my friends told me that a 22 would just piss someone off and I told him it was better to be pissed off than pissed on, besides, 16 rounds ain't nothing to laugh at. This is one round I wouldn't wanta get hit by. People seem to underestimate the 22 round, some even say a bigger round is more effective, but I can stay on target longer with my P-17. This pistol eats ammo like "a fat kid in a candy store".. I just ordered 2-16 rounds magazines because my little guy only came with 10 rd magazines. I carry this more than my Taurus G3.

Base gun is a fantastic tool in its basic configuration imo... Price/durability/overall quality. With that slide / dot update, full pass...too much $$ imo, especially with that particular dot option...offer a factory installed slide/optic dot to help reduce price and then it would be a real consideration...especially with the Holosun 407k/507k. Not a CT dot fan.

Picking this gun to install a red dot is not a smart thing to do especially for selfdefense. Red dots are great for target shooting but 85% of selfdefense events don't involve aiming with sights, they are done fast, be first if you want to live and be accurate by the feel of paint shooting and that's what this gun with that flat grip makes it easy to point shoot and win the day. Almost everyone on Y.T. confuses target shooting with using a gun for selfdefense. Those two events are not the same at all but on Y.T., like right here, they don't even know the difference. Reliability is a huge factor and if you want to reduce reliability of you P17 then put a red dot on it because that added weight will make it harder to cycle at times, probably just when you need it the most, like to save your life. Shooting paper, no problem but when shooting bad guys, they don't care where you shoot them. You hit them first and keep on hitting them, they will lose every time, chest or head, the .22 will end there fight fast. You con't need a red dot for that but UA-camrs have no clue about selfdefense with this gun. This advice is sad and dangerous. Think people, don't copy.

Its NOT co-witness at all. The iron sights don't line up anywhere near where the bullet lands and they are not adjustable.

@@markbrown-rq6is Funny how Keltec said their red dot was not designed to be co-witness with the iron sight.
You put the red dot so that you dont use the iron sight.

Can you get just the skid without the red dot?

As someone who owns one it's the most unreliable gun that I own I don't go 1 magazine without an issue also it's. 22 so better aim for a headshot or ur just gonna make the assaulting individual madder lol
