No matter what mistakes Joseph Smith Jr made in his life, his sacrifice and strength of character far outweigh it in my mind. I am so grateful for all he went through to roll the Kingdom forth for us today.

Tears rolling down my face as I was contemplating on how our Prophet Joseph Smith suffers with excruciating pain and yet was willing to forgive

I was given a demanding calling and within a couple of months I was given the hardest trials of my life. No one knew what I was going through, but I know that prayers were being said for me because of my calling. Without those prayers I could not have gotten through my trials. Thank goodness for callings.

I never knew they put the tar in his mouth .. oh the terror they all must of felt and Joseph what he had to bear. Emma, what she went through losing 6 children.... I can't even imagine the pain. The fact that the next morning he teaches forgiveness is a testament to me how great this man was and is. He deserves it all. Both him and Emma!!

Our scriptures of these stories have woven some of my own, all but forgotten; yet brought me today 25 years alone, thankful new, steadfast conviction cleaved then that alluded those old breathless tears of my long -ago hurt, 💔
      So thankful for truth’s
      treasure-trove wake😘

I never knew Joseph died during the attack and saw his body from above. Such an amazing example of forgiveness and mind focused on the Saviour, his mission and purpose of the Gospel.

Love the weekly lessons. I have so much love and respect for Joseph Smith. This man faced continual persecution yet he would never deny that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I cannot imagine the pain of being tarred and feathered then to add poison. Then to have it scraped from your body. Great admiration for this Prophet to be the vehicle to restore Jesus Christ’s church on earth today.

I love that you accepted the calling when you were feeling overwhelmed with family situation. I always think of it that Jesus is calling me to this calling, whatever it is, and He knows me through and through and He will help me. I hate thinking about all Joseph and Emma went through but it all goes to their future inheritance. How could he preach forgiveness after that BUT HE DID. Our prophets have so much on their plates that I am unaware of and to sustain them and pray for them and their families and hearken. Thank you David and Emily

Tears streaming down my cheeks as I listen to your beautiful testimonies of what transpired that night. Thank you DB and EBF. One of the most powerful sermons the Prophet gave the very next morning. I have drawn strength from his example here, many times, to rise above my hardships and adversity. I love him!

Beautifully done. Love Jason Deere! My youngest son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 8 and my oldest son was diagnosed at 21 after his mission. No other diabetes in the family. Horrendously stressful and hard. The only way we made it through was with the help of the Lord, this I know. And to this day He still provides. Bless you Emily for fulfilling your calling in YW. Best wishes to you and your son as he lives with Type 1 daily.

Emily, I was diagnosed T1D age 5, and 2 of my sisters were age 2 when they were diagnosed. It is a tremendous burden, but an even bigger blessing in my life. Being Diabetic has brought me closer to the whisperings of the Spirit than anything else ever could.

“THANK YOU”are such small words to say in trying to convey such big feelings of heartfelt gratitude & love. Your diligence & desire to share your knowledge & talents are directly succouring the weak, lifting the hands that hang down, & strengthening the feeble knees. The affects are immediate, yet eternal. You have become some of my bestest friends!
    THANK YOU!

I appreciate his big heart filled with charity for all and am looking to him as an example to keep my own heart from shrielving. Thank you for your efforts, Dave and Emily, in helping me come closer to Christ.

    1. I need to be more forgiving! 2. In take 5 we were challenged to study an account of the Lord's tender care over women..I thought of John 19:25 when Jesus gave the care of His mum to John. In verse 28 it says "Jesus now knowing everything was finished..." His very last earthly act was to care for His sweet mother. Thanks for the challenge. I never realized this before.

From Book of Mormon Central, Casey Paul Griffiths, says and quotes this about D&C 82:22 "The Lord's counsel to "make friends with the mammon of unrighteousness" (D&C 82:22) may seem curious in light of His teachings on another occasion that "ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Matthew 6:24)
President Joseph Fielding Smith explained: The commandment of the Lord that the Saints should make themselves "friends with the mammon of unrighteousness," seems to be a hard saying when not properly understood. It is not intended...that the brethren were to partake with them in their sins; to receive them into their bosoms, intermarry with them and otherwise come down to their level. [The brethren] were to so live that peace with their enemies might be assured. They were to treat them kindly, be friendly with them as far as correct and virtuous principles would permit, but never to swear with them or drink or carouse with them. If they could allay prejudice and show a willingness to trade with [them] and show a kindly spirit, it might help to turn them away from their bitterness. Judgement was to be left to the Lord."
Joseph Fielding Smith, "Church History and Modern Revelation" 1948, 2:89

If you're referring to the part of the journal that has part of the reference cut of, near where it says Me (God) & You, I believed it's 82:23, saying God has Judgment & You recieve peace/ blessings for steadfastness. We aren't to be the ones to deal with the judgment of any person - that's God's job. Our role is to focus on being steadfast, turning to Him for direction & peace, and simply enjoy the blessings God sends in return. That's how I would explain it.

    • @janispeterson4286
      @janispeterson4286 3 роки тому

Marisa- I think it’s saying to make friends with your enemies. Don’t fight with, argue with, just do good to them. Showing kindness to distractors can often change hearts. Show them the fruits of your Christianity, which is love. ♥️

    • @Redsweater-r1n

I think it means to become friends with people outside of the church. That good relationship will prevent them from thinking the worst of you and harming you if given the chance. The community of members at that time liked to isolate themselves from their surrounding neighbors and were eventually attacked by them.
