I think everyone doesn’t understand the story, Michael is a liar. He lies and acts like he missed him. He set up a deal to kill trevor but it went wrong(brad walked infront of him) so he changed his name and moved to los santos to stay away from him on purpose

Brad likely would not go on a massive revenge if he found out Michael was alive, and 3. Brad was far easier to catch, so there would not be any loose ends. In the end however, Michael got lucky that Trevor lived since that saved him from dying with Franklin and gave him a far greater life purpose, as well as helping settle his self-loathing.
I find it kind of sweet how Michael does actually sound happy when he's with Trevor in these hangouts. Michael truly does care for Trevor, but like he says he can't properly express it.
