Never ever buy a bag just because someone else bought it, or just because it is luxury or just because some influencer revved about it. Buy a bag or shoe or anything in life just because you want it and makes you happy!!!!

I feel like the Gucci Marmont is a going to be a classic that won’t be going away. I have the same nude Marmont and I can’t think of ever getting rid of it since it’s such a staple that goes with everything. But I don’t have a big collection so maybe it’s harder to justify if you have a big collection
Love this kind of video--it's so refreshing to hear how fads have come and gone. I'm also trying to focus on building a long-lasting wardrobe of classic pieces that I know work for me. I'd love to see a follow up of your bag collection to see what themes/styles you focus on and how you wear them! :)
A few years ago I decided that I was over costume jewellery. I had a few pairs of Chanel earrings which I sold and put the money towards fine jewellery. I definitely haven't regretted the choice.
Suzanne Hall My plan is to migrate to fine jewelry too as I get older. I overspent in designer costume. As a woman matures over time, fine jewelry Is a nice balance and complement. I think I’m going to do non-designer fine jewelry, except for a watch or make an exception for Blvgari jewelry.
Decluttering is so therapeutic!!! 👏 I prefer to have a tightly curated collection and have been getting rid of some of my bags as well. It makes me appreciate everything I have and also makes me be more mindful about future purchases. 😊 Thanks for sharing! 💕

Most things that people buy are looked as “outdated” because y’all buy into a trend. I will never get rid of my suede Gucci marmont! You buy things that are timeless. Look how vintage things are “back” in style. Trust the Gucci marmont will be back just like the Ophidia. Just keep it simple and classic when buying. You won’t have to worry about if something is a trend and having to let it go. Just because someone says it’s dated.

I love that you are only keeping what you love! It’s so hard to let go of items and I admire that you’re focusing on letting items go that you no longer wear. It’s always good to have at least one pair of wedges or block heel sandal in case you have a extra long maxi dress or a pair of wide legs pants you haven’t got a chance to alter, or need to wear to a place that heels are not practical, like a beach or garden party.

I’m not sure why everyone hates the marmont bag so much! I’ve had mine a in nude for a year and it’s still one of my favs, I never babied my bag and she is still beautiful and in pristine condition!
I think because it's a trend now to make videos about "Gucci Marmont out of style", one youtuber makes a video like this and then all of them follow the idea. This is my personal opinion. I still love the marmont line!
I agree, the Gucci Marmont will become a classic, and together with the belt a vintage collection piece. Because the belt was the first logo belt that started the trend and the bag. The shape of the Marmont is like the classic Chanel. In fact the Chanel 19 looks similar to the Marmont and it’s the first time Chanel has a soft leather bag in a long time. The Gucci bags that will be forgotten are all the fabric ones with the logos everywhere , including the Dionysius as it’s too excessive..that’s my opinion. The Marmont has a big logo, but just one, a good balance between excessive and minimalist..
@dobcsek I agree! Everyone’s saying the LV multicolor bag looks dated and tacky. But I still love it. The rainbow colors look so cheerful and brightens me up every time I use the bag. And there’s a wonderful memory tagged to it. I bought it at Champs Élysées, Paris 🙂Never gonna sell my LV multicolor Speedy.
I don’t get it too! Another youtuber I follow also sold her Gucci marmont bag. I still love mine. Why is it not a classic when it looks similar to the Chanel flak bag?

One thing I try to do is not to follow the fashion trends. I buy what works for my body and my style and I leave the trends to others. It’s saved me so much not trying to keep up with what’s “in” and I’m left with just timeless pieces that will always work for me.

I’m definitely saying away from bright colors and crazy patterns. If I wear a very patterned item I tend to not reach for it. They either are hard to pair or I feel like I wore it already not to sound snobby. Totally agree with all your picks for this vid. I was thinking recently that oversized bags on a daily are not it for me as well. 🤷🏽♀️ Thanks for making videos. 😘

Never could get into the Gucci marmont bag. But I shall never part with my two marmont belts. I have given them a rest since I got the Valentino belt but I’m certain they will be a vintage item that will come and go in and out style. Plus they don’t take up much room so they stay. I too wore mine excessively.
Personally, I love wedge shoes and I prefer them over regular heels. I agree on the Gucci belt, didn't like mine either, so I sold it. I still love the Gucci bag, and still wouldn't mind getting one in the future. I had bought that PVC bag as well, didn't care for it either. I agree that the style is not really in style anymore. Yes I feel u amie. For decades I just hang on to those bags I hardly use and bought. After the de-cluter I feel so good. And now I make sure I buy the bags which I know I will use and not keep it after buying.
I've heard people saying that Valentino rockstuds are out, and I still love them (specifically the sandal version). I also super love Chloe Susanna boots. I think no matter what happens fashion wise, those are never leaving my heart. Haha.
I completely agree about the gimmicky designer statement pieces. When I really love a unique collection I try to get a bandeau or SLG at a much more reasonable price that can dress up my classic work horse staples.

Great video. I try and buy bags that I truly love and will wear regardless of what is in fashion. I don't believe in buying something because it's trendy, or getting rid of something because it's suddenly not 'in'. I tend to be drawn to bags that not everyone has. X
This was a great video, I loved the topic. I sold so many of my bags and only kept the ones I really loved and made sure I had one for every occasion. I never bought anything from Gucci because I knew it was just a trend. I’ve stuck with LV and Chanel classics and I’m still very happy with my collection.
Same, I do not wear Gucci and will never. My bag collection consists of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Alexander Wang and my Mulberry Alexa (I could never part with her). All I need is a backpack and another travel bag and I'll be at handbag peace.
Gladiator sandals never appealed to me, I just thought of the hassle of undoing them every time you walk in the door. And PVC is not it in my eyes, never been tempted to buy. I live in a hot climate and just picture getting stuck to my bag

Love this video content. I agree because as I get older, I am very much over loud, branded pieces and gravitating towards understated, practical bags that I'll enjoy for years to come. My policy is one bag out before a new one comes in and I put that money towards the next purchase.

I totally agree on getting older part. With each decade when women mature, their choice of style (I think) changes as well. When you’re in your 20’s and 30’s you tend to go after the trend. When you hit 40’s you’re looking into more safisticated and classic pieces. At least that’s what happened to me. 😁💐

Wedge sandals have been my go-to for 20 years. Comfort always trumps fashion when it comes to footwear for me - still got to be stylish of course ☺

I think the Gucci Marmont line is a classic. I don’t have the handbag but I do have several belts. I’m petite and I always belt my outfits at the waist. These belts are classic and understated and always elevate what I’m wearing. It’s best to buy what you love and not be influenced by what is currently popular. I enjoy watching these types of videos but what I’ve noticed is everyone is buying the same things!
I’ve been on and off trying to sell my marmont belt, but every time I’m about to, I get cold feet and don’t end up selling it. Handbags are my “thing” and I don’t like wearing too many logos- but I still love it 🤦🏻♀️
Tbh I’ve never been a huge fan of the Marmont bags bc I think they’re knocking off the Chanel classic flap w a diff stitching. But also the structure of the bag is kind of soft seems like it would lose its shape on the bottom

I've always looked at the Marmont as a knockoff as it's obviously a dupe for the Chanel classic flap. I had a friend who wanted to get the Marmont and I convinced them to go for the Chanel flap since it's THE black chain bag and we all know how the bag is untouchable when it comes to standing the test of time. People keep on saying that the Marmont is a new classic but I honestly think it won't ever happen since there's already a bag that's claimed that kind of silhouette and it's the Chanel classic flap.

I used to be an oversized bag girl, too! I completely cleaned out my closet recently and lined up all of my hand bags and realized the bags I use the most are all small/medium bags. I donated all of my beautiful totes and large bags to a local woman’s shelter.
I know I have to do a closet clean out and focus forever pieces !!! As always great video 😍👏🏾👌🏾

The Sir Dean Experience :I don’t think anyone is interested in these brands, hence the reason they’re not popular.
But it only takes one influencer to promote the brand and for it to take off - like happened with Bottega Veneta.

Personally, I will take 6" wedge sandals over kitten heels any day of the week.. For 2 reasons - 1. I am only 164 cm (approx. 5.3") . Reason 2. Kitten heels look so dated ....from earlier 2000s . They brought them back too soon.. Should wait for another 15-20 years...

Here’s my dilemma! The YSL Lou Lou is at the top of my list (most likely medium but maybe small) and I hope to purchase this summer. Do you think it’s a bag that will still be around for 5-10 years? I love how simple the lines are and it’s such a beautiful bag. The other bags in my list are the LV Alma in noir epi leather in the PM size and the chanel

Im also getting me marmont(but in black) next year as a college graduation, that is my favourite bag for years now.
Top brands will always be Hermes, Chanel and LV. 2nd will be Christian Dior and YSL. 3rd Fendi, Prada, Gucci. ect. Get something else that will last and a better value for your money. Gucci is outdated, you can buy it at a discount in an outlet mall.

I used to like Statement shoes, so I own few CoStume National sandals, or higher heels like my Stewart Weizmann sandals which I don’t wear anymore. I wish I invested more on Kitten heels shoes. I have kids and don’t attend that many occasions and parties anymore. Loved your video as always 💕😘😘🙏

To me a wedge is a classic. Those barely there shoes with kitten heels is a trend that’s going to come and go. I never liked the large Gucci belt but the smaller ones are more tasteful.

I look at my closet and feel overwhelmed. I have sooooo many luxury bags that I have never worn. I’m now retired and don’t need to get dressed up. I would like to sell bags, clothes & jewelry. Now being home bound I really need to clean out my closets. It’s the first step that’s hard 🤦♀️.

I sold my Marmont this week, I never even used it. I liked the look of the bag but functionally it was not for me. 1) I found it too soft. 2) the chain length was too long for carrying just as a handbag. 3) can’t take the chain off and change it , I prefer a versatile bag

The basket bag and the PVC bag will always come back. Dont sell these, also dont buy any more but having 0ne in your closet as a go to for the season is smart.....

I still love the Gucci Marmont line, it is one of my favorite and I have so many bags and items from the line that I can never part with as it is suitable for my lifestyle, after my back injury I had to give up wearing a lot of my heavy handbags (back then they were not heavy! but after my injury everything seemed to weight a tons) and I was only relying on my GG Marmont as it was light and easy to wear, it does make me sad when I see people giving up bags that once they loved. I understand trends and fads but I just hope they'll find a new owner that they'll appreciate it more.
For me is the mini skirts. I realized that I'm a midi type of person, that's what I enjoy wearing the most, those are the clothes that make me feel the most feminine. Also, I realize that i love seeing people wearing monochrome or neutral outfits but I do enjoy floral patterns. Especially in the summer. So I'm just embracing it 🤗

have u checked out coach lately? i found a white bag (cassie crossbody) from them that i thought was such a cute classic and minimal piece with some really great pockets. the bag has three separate straps that are interchangeable too! im really surprised b/c i haven't like coach for a while, but lately their minimal styles r quite nice and at a price point similar to tory burch
