I’m amazed at the similarities of our camera journeys. I started with Panasonic, added blackmagic, now considering Sony. Lots of the same frustrations. Hearing all of your thoughts have been super helpful, thanks for sharing!

Great Video as always, I was actually just watching your light diffusion video when I saw this one I am moving in a different direction I have two Canon C100's II and just picked up 2 BMPCC 4ks, heeding the advice of your Buying vs Investing video. Love the BTS footage reminds us that we all put on one leg at time. I'll be looking forward to your next videos, I know you are going to be talking about Sony but please sprinkle some cross platform stuff to look for would be great. Either way love watching your videos and keep up the Great work your sharing is much appreciated.

I try to put as much real project footage as possible as it’s an actual representation of how a camera or lens or light works in the field 🙏. That’s actually a good idea with the cross platform topics, I actually didn’t think about that haha
I guess you shoot 4K30P with the A7III and the FS7? Because I always shoot 4K50P with my panasonic GH5S. You said they matched very good (FS7 and GH5) so i would make sense for me to me to buy a second hand FS7? I have a few full frame e mount lenses and the powerzoom 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 from my sold nex-ea50 (but still have the FS100) and thanks for this great video
I shoot regularly with the Fs7 . Looking for a well matched b-camera but not necessarily needing the stills capability. I’m properly torn between a A7iii and the A7sii . Thoughts ?
Do you think the a7rii would match well with the a7iii and other more current Sony cameras? It is currently $1,200 and I’m thinking about using it as an inexpensive secondary camera since there’s a Play Memories hack to go past the 30 minute record limit.
That also depends on the weight, for how I rig it I’m actually a pound over the max load for the minimix. Still usable but you have to crank up the tension to max
Hey David ! 😊 How do you match the color of the SLOG 2 on the two cameras ? It's maybe a bit of a technical question, but do you use custom mode SLOG2 SGamut on FS7 and SLOG 2 sgamut3cine or SGamut on the A7iii to get them to match ?
I’ve been using the Phantom LUTs SLOG2 to rec709 to help match things. On the FS7 I stick with Cine EI, SLOG2-SGamut and same with the A7III. There’s always too much noise in SLOG3 on the A7III for me but SLOG2 works great
@@atdavidlee yes thanks ! I did a few tweaks on the a7iii's slog 2 settings in camera to get it to match properly with the fs7's slog 2. This tweak helped to get them to match easier: julienjarry.com/pictureprofiles/

I started in premiere and colored with Lumetri for a while. It gave me a foundation for resolve so keep at it man! Thank you for the sub! I hope the channel helps you 🙌
Nice video, what preset values do you use to colour match the FS7 and the A7III if using both cameras at the same time?

I’d definitely go A7III, I use them both together and they match pretty well

It would match ball park but not exact. If you’re using SLOG2 you’d probably have an easier time
Do you use an easyrig for handheld work with the Fs7 ?
Depends on how big I have the camera built out. If I need my shoulder pad, rails and v mount adapter I’ll always opt for the easyrig
