Introducing the Barrett® MRAD™

  • The MRAD rifle's user-changeable barrel system is just one example of this hardworking gun's modularity. The precision-grade barrel can be removed by simply unscrewing two bolts using a standard Torx wrench. This unique design paves the way for future caliber interchangeability and serviceability. Maintenance and logistical burdens are reduced by allowing barrel replacement at the user level.
    The MRAD also boasts Barrett's new trigger module, which is easily accessed for maintenance, adjustment and replacement. This match-grade trigger is drop-fire-proof and combat-ready. Both the ambidextrous thumb-operated safety and magazine release can be used intuitively while retaining a firing grip and cheek weld.
    Integrated into the MRAD rifle's 7000 series aluminum upper receiver is an M1913 rail with 30 MOA taper. At 21.75 inches, the rail offers plenty of space for mounting additional optical accessories. The configurable side and bottom rails can also hold a number of accessories and are easily repositioned.
    The stock is where the MRAD rifle's adaptability truly shines. It's foldable for enhanced portability yet locks in as solid as a fixed-stock rifle, creating a riding platform for consistent firing. When folded, the stock latches around the bolt for added security during transport. Because the stock folds to the bolt handle side of the action, the rifle is the same width overall, folded or extended.
    Made of a temperature-resistant polymer, the adjustable cheek piece also offers a consistent rifle-to-user contact point and can be adjusted from either side. The rifle's length of pull can be set to five different positions with the push of a single button.
    From its quick-detach sling mounts to the Barrett Multi-Role Brown color of the rifle that blends into any environment-every detail of the MRAD has been carefully designed to create one thing: a high-performance rifle you can truly make your own.
    MRAD will become available Mid-Year 2011.

      It's probably because all the big gun reviewers have only just recently gotten their hands on this kit in just the last year. Garand Thumb, Kevin Owens (who helped SOCOM select this rifle), and War Poet Society all have good videos with this gun. Norway, Israel, and New Zealand have issued this gun to their service members since 2012-13, but only recently did the US officially pick it up this year.

    Yes, they stated that it was a SOCOM outfitted M98B. It was one of the contenders for the PSR contract (details of which you can google, among other things, all the contenders had to have a folding stock and a quick switch barrel).

    @doorgunner11, what point was I trying to make??? Only that I was not necessarily a dumb hillbilly. LOL. I have never served our country, KUDOS TO YOU FOR DOING SO, and I mean that with ALL RESPECT. Also, I have only had the opportunity to attend one Shot Show, but it was incredible. I'm also a TRUE born and bred Tennessean that has 15/40 MOA Barrett rings on my quick twist .338 Lapua Improved, so like I noted, I AM a Barrett fan, I just don't have your knowledge on the topic like you do.

  • @DeoVindice1861
    @DeoVindice1861 13 років тому

    @doorgunner11 , you're right on the money with the Model 82, and assuming that you are a doorgunner, I'm sure you know more than me. I was at the '98 Shot show, and always make a point to visit the Barrett booth. I didn't see the MRAD there. Nothing like the MRAD. Not arguing, just making a point. According to your wisdom, I guess the M107 was introduced in 19107??? Perhaps, I did not forward my thoughts very well, as I should not have used the word "stolen". Oh well. Best Wishes.

    Remington has pretty much had a shoe-in since the get-go, imo. The military, for the most part, seems to not to like to break tradition too much. Remington has been supplying them their bolt-action sniper rifles for ages now. Most of these rifles have little difference between them, I'd imagine.

    Many features stolen from the Remington MSR. As long as the OAL of the cartridge can be 4 inches in .338 Lapua for a heavy 300 gr. payload, like what is offered in the Remington MSR, this should be a great rifle.

  • @13thmistral
    @13thmistral 13 років тому

    @Gunnut321 well i think the blaser tactical 2 owns the msr if i must beleve what is said about both rifles
    rsass will be better then the m110
    ever heard of the ak-200 ?
    or an-94 and aek-971 ?
    scar-h cant be compared, but i realy woud like to see an hk 417 compared to an saiga .308 full automatic modification
    and the acr vs ak-200, that woud be more interesting, though i dont know for sure if talking about accuracy, i kinda already have a favorit because of verry likely better releabillity
