"Just put a foot on the rail. Helps you to balance in case you get a snootfull later!" The best line Shelley Winters has in the entire film!!!! A classic statement!!! Loved it and the film ESPECIALLY the fabulous gowns n dresses n hats n hairpieces n gloves the ladies were lucky enough to wear!!!! AWESOME colours n designs n coordinating accessories!!!
Give Shelley Winters any movie, any genre and she performed like a veteran . She was very versatile and at home with any genre: Drama, Western, musical, detective, big-budget and even medium-budget movies. She had wit, grace, good sartorial sense, and always called a spade, a spade, one liners that would keep you in splits long after the movie was over. Yes, she was also pretty during her heyday, till she began to pile on the pounds. She never lacked roles all through her career that lasted for a couple of decades. She played leading ladies for a long time and then accepted peripheral roles when age seem to catch up. All through these vicissitudes, Shelley never ever let down her audience. Her name alone was enough clout to draw audiences to theaters and keep them glued and entertained. Do see Shelley in an Oscar-worthy performance in "A place in the sun" in which she starred with Monty Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. Even in an awful film, Shelley always stood out as the redeeming feature!!!
She kicked the 'oomph-girl image' and settled for straight-roles tinged with an undercurrent of cunning that paid rich dividends. Yes, she did win supporting Oscars for The Diary of Anne Frank and the wonderfully touching A patch of blue with Liz Hartman and Sidney Poitier.
In the movie 🍿, The Big Knife 🔪 starring Jack Palance, Shelly Winters played a woman who was murdered because she had been going to tell something about Jack Palance that would damage his acting career. She was just a poor actress who thought she had been put under contract for her figure rather than her acting ability. Consequently when her figure wasn’t so attractive her roles in the desirable movie dried up so she was going to try blackmail. 🥺🥺😱😱😱😬😬😬
That portrait pic he held up. Wit frenchie trew me into Media world,i swore she was tryin to Call,,me on a Cell, phone😂😂😂 wats in her hand close to mouth 😅
Shelly's good looks didn't last into her middle-age. Hank Worden as the guy at the assay office. Joel McCrea had roles in a few otherl Westerns where he played a character who never carried a gun - at least initially.
Her looks lasted, she merely gained weight. Most women do, particularly those whom bloom early. Beautiful. fantastic.
Shelly winters saw my little brother and wanted to make a star is born. On the train 3 4 or 5 years old. I love her . She is the greatest star.❤😊
I cannot conceive of any possible justification to crop the top and bottom of this film like this. It completely ruins the composition!
I was born 20 years later!!
Stunningly beautiful with a body to match! ❤

Gosto, muito de cinema, o lamentável, e não ter a opção de legendas, em português, até aceito a falta de nitidez,
Ask UA-cam l, they absolutely have the ability and the money to accomplish that for you. In Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

Shelly Winters weren't no joke
Love me sum Shellie Winters
46:15- The Slap…... I wonder if Will watched this before the Oscars. 🤭
Borrows ideas from 'Destry Rides Again'. Always liked Joel McCrae
Not just ideas. "Frenchie", "Bottleneck", barroom catfight, "I knew a fella.....", gunless hero (till the final shootout)
The good times when the Church was in charge of peoples' mind and bodies
