This album and videos by Seamus Murphy, are the most compelling I have ever heard and seen. They complement themselves perfectly. I cant get by a day without listening to it. It;s like a good book, but better. Polly, your aim to write music to your words to depict England and its history and people has been achieved perfectly This album is easily in my top 5 off all I have collected over 38 years. It makes me sad and happy at the same time. Pure Brilliance
First few times listening to this: wtf is this? Now?: This is awesome. Many people don't like putting a little effort into enjoying an album. It doesn't mean its bad, just that its not as simple. And giving an album like this a chance pays off so fucking much!
Sometimes one needs long time to find the clue to special music. I never had a strong relation to PJs music. But these new songs seem really interesting to me from first listening. They kind of pick up these 70s/80s mind in British music, don't they?!
I have to admit when I first heard some of the tracks from the new album I didn't like them very much and I've been a huge fan of this lady's work for 16 years now, but the more I listen to them the more they're starting to click, I haven't gotten around to purchasing the album yet but I'm going too very soon!
The fairground at the start is on the about a mile from where I live, on the "seafront" in Canvey Island. I walked past it yesterday evening and got a quite start when I recognised it.
@Badpenny13 Purchased the album about a week and a half ago, but have only gotton a chance to listen to it properly, in it's entirety now. It's incredible! the tracks 'All and Everyone' and 'The Colour of the Earth' brought me to tears! It's her most complete album to date I think, every track flows seamlessly into the next, with that amazing guitar, trombone and piano acting as the musical glue holding it together. This is a future classic and very much of our time! Impressive.Everybody get it!
@Badpenny13 I think the guitar I was referring too might actually be the Auto Harp. It's a bit hard to differentiate between it and guitar, listening via my laptop.
@Steoandnoodles1 I did listen to it, not listen to some random critic kiss their ass since they bought a good review. Might shock you to know that is how this industry works like all do.

Another great musical artist from England! Great Britain is awesome!
I am ashamed to say I have only recently discovered PJ Harvey, but I fell in love with her powerful lyrics and music. Easily top 1 album.

I wish the video had more of PJ in it... she's gorgeous!

patriotic, diplomatic waves. i'm not so sure about, but very interesting work, cara polly J
I love his look-up @27 / 28s - he looks up to the camera man as if to say "WTF is this nonsense? Can you please leave me alone now?!"

the old man at the begging and end, did they match him to the puppet, or match the puppet to him?
What are your top 5, may i ask?

Anybody know who the jolly fellow in the window-light is?
@jcnaples
PJ Harvey isn't really a new singer... She's been making music since the 1980s.
