We were given our gooseberry bush recently and it needed a spruce up so today we are sharing our Spring prune of "Leveller" - a sweet dessert gooseberry 🙂

I have recently added gooseberry Invicta to my plot and was wondering how to prune it. Very helpful video thanks, I now feel confident to tackle it. Would it be better not to prune for the first year? It has quite a good open shape.

Oh great - "Leveller" is a sweet dessert gooseberry: I'm not too keen on gooseberries myself - too many memories of '70's school food! Barney is doing very well thank you - dare I say it fully house trained? I've gone and said it now! Have a great weekend Melanie 🌸
@@JohnHorseyHorticulture I'll look for that variety. I have memories of it myself. As a child at my grandmother's we played hide and seek. I'd hide under her Gooseberry bushes and eat them while I hid. They were red and tangy. I thought his name was Barney but was afraid I'd be wrong. Wish you the best that can be a challenge for sure.
