    Superb. Fantastic seeing in one of these. That footprint is going to surprise somebody. Love the ancient basic look of the logic. And surfing it: Crazy!

    I can tell this is in the Czech Republic, because the handles on the cars are slanting. In other countries they're vertical.

    I like that I can hear modern motor whine in the motor room from another lift

    Always wanted to see the motor room of a Paternoster, thank you. Might have been in it a few times but the view of the mechanism is pretty non-existent from inside the coffin.
    Had one at my Uni library.
    Got told off. Not for riding the crest of the wave, but for giggling too loudly!
    Why are all of them decked out in seventies woodgrain effect panels though?!

    How on earth did someone made these lifts like that. That’s just incredible. Some incredible engineering.

    Sorry for this ignorant question but do paternosters have overspeed governors like normal lifts to prevent overspeeding?

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  9 місяців тому +3

      A paternoster is very similar to an escalator. It wouldn't have a governor in the same way that a lift has one

      @@benolifts Ahh fair enough. Thinking about it, yeah the paternoster certainly seems to work similarly to an escalator. That said I've never been on a paternoster, although I have been to the Czech Republic (only Prague sadly). I do remember the hotel where I stayed in Prague had a lift that was rather unusual - in the sense that there was a seat inside the lift! (I wonder what the seat could be there for - I don't see why you need to sit down when you're going to be out of the lift in a few secs anyway!)

    Full Paternoster surf when? If you're too scared / believe it to be too dangerous, could just put a camera on top with a torch

    Whats that constant clicking sound? Also what does the kogic of the paternoster do? Safety?

    • @martin1071992
      @martin1071992 10 місяців тому +1

      I guess it's the sound of the chain links meeting cogs on the sprocket-wheel? And yes, that would be safety circuit for the emergency switches and buttons.

    What is that sort of lever above the paternoster cabins?

    • @thegroupofreptiles6823
      @thegroupofreptiles6823 4 місяці тому +1

      Think it's to do with the emergency stop levers inside the cabs? I've seen one which has a loop of metal wires going the whole way around which a metal rod shorts and stops the motor if someone uses the stop lever

      Literally isn't, but ok lmao. I guess that's what happens when you watch one youtube video about how horrifyingly dangerous it is and can't think for yourself💀
