BYU OC needs to stop playing not to lose once we are up big. Its been going on for years. Our RB from last week was out due to being banged up. Should have our RB room at full strength against AZ.
Offensive coordinator always plays scared/conservative when they go up, and that’s the teams biggest weakness. He goes away from what’s working and tries to bleed the clock to no avail. RB room is pretty much all injured, should be okay after the bye week. Offensive line also lost two players to injury in the second half which did not help
BYU lost their starting C & his backup on one drive in the 2nd quarter. And a starting OG early in the game as well. (While another starting OG had to switch to C.) And that situation was compounded by what you recognize: Our top 3 RBs were out for that Baylor game injured (but we should get them all back in the next couple weeks. As for the starting (Sr) Center: early word is he's not likely to return. :( And his backup probably isn't talented or ready enough to run with for the season if he is cleared. Which means our OG switched there will probably become a fixture, & we'll have to roll with another Guard (who came in & played real well for us the last two games, fortunately) So our offensive struggles in the 2nd half in Waco did have an explanation. Our OC, ARod, stayed very conservative largely because of that depleted OL & the huge lead we'd built up. Retzlaff has been good, yes -- but also highly turnover prone till very recently. So ARod sided with keeping him righteous. (Particularly after he threw that 2nd pick -- which was Jake's dumbest play on the evening.) I think the conservative 2nd half was the wise course in the game. Sometimes managing a big lead is the best course to winning a game. Even if it makes you not look so impressive as a team in the end.
Losing Pay for extended time could be detrimental. However if he’s back for AZ and LJ and Moa are back… we will be a beast offensively as long as Arod uses the pass to open up the run. Teams will be on their heels.
He's no OC, terrible play caller. BYU suffered some game ending injuries but no excuse. SRod is not a playoff OC for reasons that cannot be explained in a short text.
Yeah there’s a lot of context but overall I think they are on pretty equal footing, Colorado just has the tough loss to Nebraska. Lucky for BYU they haven’t played a high powered offense like that yet

Played primarily 4th & 5th string RBs against Baylor

A few key injuries. Don’t know how serious they are yet, but happy it’s bye week.
ARod happened in the second half. He needed to go after last year.

BYU to the Playoffs 🎉
Go Cougars!
Any WIN on the road is a big deal. Look at how BYU throttled K State on Provo turf!! BYU now at 17th in top 25 poll five games in!!
This win for BYU is called an upset on Baylor home turf!! BYU travels so well when they have tons of fans show up. They have a big "D" for sure.
BYU beats Baylor by 6 and they’re so amazing, Colorado beats Baylor by 7 and Baylor isn’t that good. Please help me understand
Perhaps they can’t get the Nebraska game out of their minds. Colorado is playing well right now, for sure.

Baylor ain't as bad as many think. That was a solid road win for BYU, & the second game in a row they're proving they're for real this season.
