Tarn is on record saying that when DF is completed (maybe 2020 maybe 2030) the final step in its creation will be a UI overhaul.

@@kdis20 2020 seems like a massive stretch. Most recently I can recall him saying he was 60-70% through the design document that's been accumulated over the years. With 18 years into development, that puts us just over an additional 10 years till a 1.0 version. And that might not be the end of it.
