- This is your ultimate travel guide to Malapascua Island in the Philippines. I show you the best beaches, where to stay, what to eat, and who to scuba dive with to see the thresher sharks. I also go into what facilities are available on the island and explain the community and local economy. And of course, like always, I am completely price transparent so you know how much a trip to Malapascua might cost you, no matter if you are a backpacker or into something a bit more luxurious.
*All prices in USD

My girlfriends parents are taking me and my girlfriend to the Philippines for 3 weeks, 5-6 days on Malapascua and then on to Sabang, it's my first time going outside of Europe and I am super excited, especially after seeing your video. So thank you!
Awesome guide around Malapascua. One of the best vlog I’ve seen about one place. Not rush and very relaxing to watch. I love that you try to eat almost anything. That’s one of the joys of my life trying all kinds of foods. Thanks for this vlog and enjoy your trips around the world.👍🏼❤️
Thanks so much for the encouraging words, I really appreciate it. I LOVE trying the local cuisine. Most of the time it's delicious, but I have come up a bit short sometimes hahaha

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you're having a great time
That was really cool with the Thresher sharks--I've never seen or heard of that species before. I also like the details you include for how to get there and what to do while there.
Diving with the Thresher Sharks was unreal! I'm so glad you found the vlog helpful
It's one of the best chillaxed vlogs we've seen. We are headed there in April-May to dive, this authentic video has actually made us looking forward to staying for a full week now.
Very Cool.
Thanks so much. I hope you have a great time!
Wow that's amazing,I'm planing to come that beautiful island this coming summer, to capture beautiful ambiance for my UA-cam channel
I hope you have an amazing time!!!
So many things to do in such a small area , so beautiful . So lucky .
It's definitely a dream destination. I think tourism is really going to boom in the next ten years, so the time to visit is now.
@@amie.everywhere beautifully presented, the underwater scene with sharks and fishes is numero uno. Thank you for sharing, and your beautiful presence as well😃✌️
Thank you for sharing your journey on Malapascua. I am sailing from Cebu to Coron over 26 days stopping and diving at all the best spots. 🫶
I enjoyed the video, covered what I needed to share to my German fiance about Malapascua before visiting this year. Thanks for sharing ❤
So happy I could help. I hope you have a great time in Malapascua!
Very helpful information, beautiful beach, amazing ocean creatures, especially the sharks.❤

Thank you! A little update about the resort in the south where you loved Chicken Adobo and Mango float : it has closed 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks! We are going in two weeks so excited!
My pleasure. I hope you have a great time!
Really enjoyed that, well done - great job on the editing ! 👍
Thank you very much!
You did a great job in this vid describing Malapascua and the island. I especially related to how you talked of exploring it and walking through the neighborhoods. I visited for 22 days in April of ‘22 and would run in the morning as it would go from dark to sunrise….beautiful!! But it was amazing how I could get lost on such a tiny island.😅the “infrastructure” of the narrow paths added to the quaintness of the place! Plus , I can get lost in my own house 😂..thx for a great vid!!
Thanks so much for watching and your lovely words. There's nothing better than getting lost when discovering a new place 😊
Awesome Guide. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this very insightful video. very well done.
heading there in two days for a week. looking forward to it.
Glad it was helpful! Have fun!

Hi Amie! Thanks for all the info in your video, the island is really cool. Only 2 more days left in Malapascua, it has been worth coming! People is great and with our diving group we have seen 4 different species of sharks. Especially the thresher sharks encounters were amazing and the videos are wonderful. We also saw the tiger shark but from far away, maybe it is better that way... 😅 Cheers!

You're not going to regret it! Have a great time
Really enjoyed your video;- lots of info & great shots of thresher shark! Thanks! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
going to malapascua soon and this was one of the BEST video ty!!!
Thank you so much!!! I hope you have a brilliant time in Malapascua
Malapascua in Spanish means bad Easter and not bad Christmas BTW. I dived a lot here in 2008. The thresher sharks are very nice but Monad shoal where these sharks come to get cleaned by other fish doesn't have any soft corals unfortunately. Got to get up VERY early to see them, something like 4 am.
Cebuanos have a different 'pascua' meaning, so it is a bit confusing but it indeed means Bad Chrsitmas. Yes I got up at 4am for the thresher sharks. worth it though!
Thank you to support the Philippines ❤❤❤
My pleasure :)
Hi Amie. Thanks for this video. I didn't quite catch thr name of the hotel you've stayed at. I'm planning to go because of your video. Thank you.
I stayed at JPH hotel. I suggest contacting them via Facebook for the best price. I hope you have a brilliant time!!!
Great video Amie 😊 Thank you. On my bucket list for sure so will re watch this in future. By the way, this isn't the only place to dive with Threshers, but I believe is one of the best. Look forward to more of your content.
Thanks so much for watching! Where is the other places to dive with Thresher Sharks? I'd LOVE to go!
@@amie.everywhere was my pleasure. I have recently returned from Fuvahmulah in the Maldives where I dived with 6 Threshers and dozens of Tigers. A must do if you love Threshers, Tigers or SCUBA. In fact your video reminded me of my holiday so thanks 😃 I am keen to go back to the Maldives. Have you been?
I went to the Maldives in November. It was incredible! I had no idea about the Thresher sharks - makes for a great excuse to go back!
@@amie.everywhere wow, I was there for the whole month of November also. Looking to return next year. 💙🦈🙂

I am speechless. I was there in 2001 and there was just one small hotel and a little village in the middle of the island. I would never go there again.

Good job
Thanks so much
Thanks very nice and informative video! How are prices here compared to Cebu? Any other places we should visit? We arrive and departure from Cebu.
Thanks for watching! I found the prices to be really reasonable in comparison to the rest of Cebu. Another great place you can consider going to is Moalboal.
Thanks
My pleasure!
Hi, excellent video! Thanks for all the info. Did you do the daytrip to Kalanggaman Island? Do you need experience to do the dive?
Thanks for watching! No I didn't go to Kalanggaman Island - it just seemed like a really long way to go for a small island. Yes - you need to be at least Open Water Certified to dive with the Thresher Sharks.
Such long tails on Thresher Sharks .
They almost look a bit sassy when they swim away hahaha
Hello from Russia and thank you for the video! ) what is the name of your hotel?
Water is quite clear
So beautiful and the sea life is great!
Which taxi service did you use from Cebu. It is usually expensive. Mine was more than $62 last March...
I organised a private driver through my hotel. It cost about $70
Yea we know da story.ive been there many times, but this 2023 none....
Marvelous video thanks for sharing, my wife and I will go to Philippine on marsh and I have a question, when have you been on this beautiful island ?
Hi, thanks for watching my vlog. I went to Malapascua in April this year. I hope you have a great time!
@@amie.everywhere thanks a lot for your quick answer ..have a nice day
Malapascua = Bad Easter... not bad Xmas.
Ha! Well there are a few locals that are a bit confused
Makes sense in Filipino.
Malas-bad
Pasco-Christmas
actually its bad easter, not bad christmas
Thanks for the correction. I always thought it was bad Christmas
I think she got it right. Malapascua means ...malas na pasko.
marc is actually right. it is 'bad christmast'. my translation was spanish - english. cebuanos have their a different 'pascua' meaning.
One of the best videos I've seen in a relaxing feel to it .new follower and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos..❤
Thanks so much!! It means so much to get great feedback like this! I hope you enjoy my other vlogs.
❤
Thanks for watching!
New subs here.
Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy my future content!
Thank you for the video and all the information. Quick question - can you swim with the threshers if not a certified diver? I am an avid snorkelled and dived once
Unfortunately, you will need to be certified, but you can do that within a day at one of the dive centres.
3:45 Wet season is from November to July, dry season is from December to June???
Ah bummer! I meant July to Nov being the rainy season and Dec to June being the dry season. I don't know how I mixed that one up. Thanks for pointing it out.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
ty4 awesome guide video. 33$ per dive? any additional fee?
There were no additional fees for me :)
Can I bring my motorcycle to Malapascua ?
There are motorcycles on the island, so I am sure there is a way to get it across on one of the boats.
You say @3:42:
"Wet season - Nov:July you can expect a lot of rain
So, the best time to come from Dec:June - Dry season
It makes absolutely NO sense !
I know, that's why text pops up on the screen to rectify what I said.
Is Malapascau in Bantayan?
No. You'll need catch a ferry from Santa Fe (on Bantayan) back to Hagnaya Port on Cebu island, then take a tricycle to Bogo city (60php) and catch a bus to Maya Port from there (they leave about every hour). Once at Maya Port, catch a boat to Malapascua. If you start at 9am, you'll get to Malapascua around 4pm.
My experience of the atm is that they are nearly always empty you need to catch them on the correct day
when the weather is good
Pascua = Easter, Navidad = Christmas
Cebuanos have a different 'pascua' meaning, so it is a bit confusing but it indeed means Bad Chrsitmas
@@amie.everywhere I am sorry, this was very ignorant of me.
Wow, just look at that sea anemone! That bright color might indicate them that they are not edible.
The sea life in Malapascua is incredible!
pretty...
i dont know why i have more subs.
Aw thanks. These algorithms are killing me 😊
Those ugly houses(tapal tapal/patchy patchy houses) should be fixed by the local government to make the place tourist friendly. I do not understand why the local government did not care how the houses look there. I think Thailand wins way up there when it comes to TOURISM because the local government improve housing and pathways in these TOURIST KNOWN AREAS compared to the local government and Department of Tourism in the Philippines. It is truly a SHAME for the local and national government of the Philippines for not caring how international tourists will look at the poor people living in these beautiful God created islands.
The cyclone that passed through Malapascua recently destroyed much of the island and I think the locals are trying the best they can with as little resources as possible. Of course some more government intervention is needed, but it's not always that easy. I don't look at how the locals on Malapascua live as being ugly, I only see kindness, community, and strength. It's a beautiful island with beautiful people.
Now you know how neglected the provinces by the national govt, the local govt of Cebu can only do so much, its not as rich as Thailand.
OMG ! there is no laundry in the Island????? where these new ''travelers'' are coming from?
Have ever seen Filipinas hands?
Get me out of here...thats Malapascua a very very tiny island in the middle of no where
