    Great footage. I understand you can’t use lights when shooting the thresher sharks, but can you still have lights on the camera to light up other critters if the sharks aren’t close?

      @@lazydivermel and you did not use a red filter either. How much post processing did you have to do with the videos? Also, what is the depth where the thresher sharks are?

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  11 місяців тому +1

      @shotsbyscott6243 quite shallow less than 18m I guess.. as for post processing yes it's painful without lights.. but because its shallow it's easier with sunlight

    • @shotsbyscott6243
      @shotsbyscott6243 11 місяців тому +1

      @@lazydivermel The GoPro does not work well at 18m without lights is what I have found. Have you tried a red filter? Also, found red filters at this depth made the scene to dark and had to raise the ISO to a high level which made the video too grainy and unusable for my taste.

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  4 місяці тому +1

      @shotsbyscott6243 sorry for the late reply. you see.. for red filter it cuts even more light which slow down the gopro shutter.. if I'm not using lights I'll just post process and pray.. haha but sometimes u see where is the sun make sure it's behind you.. as for most of my dives I uses video lights and get as close as possible.. video lights won't work more than 3m. Hence I use AOI lens wide angle lens to let me get even closer.. once u are 0.5m away from subject and using lights it will turn everything true to life colors.. u don't need red filter at all.. secondly all videos need to color correct in post because gopro tends to look green in water.. hence in post u need to pull down the green and increase blue a little and red offsets. Currently I'm trying red filter on gopro and blue filter on my video lights

    Hi! I just came across your video, stunning! I was wondering whether you 8000 lumen video lights were too bright for macro filming or was it fine? And what brand are you lights? Thanks!

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  2 місяці тому

      @vincylau8031 macro x2 8000lm is too bright for macro. Maybe just need 50% power. Or less. But it's always good to get a brighter lights for multiple usage including night dive and wide angle shots. I'm now using x2 15000lm firing at 10000lm each for 70% of the time except for macro.. imo 8000lm is the minimum for long term use

    Amazing Video! Mind to share about your video light model? And how does it compared to TrustFire DF50?

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  Рік тому +1

      Hi there thank you! Im using DF50 for this video. And have been using it for 2 years already. So far the pros are its durable (if u replace the ball mount to a screw and ball mount 2pc set). Type C charging. Bright for close focus wide angle.
      And the cons are that.
      1. The original 1pc ball mount might break if you over tighten it and once its broke u probably going to end up buying a new one set
      2. It is heavy u need float arms to compensate
      3. Still need to color correction a fair bit for the videos.

      @@JellyJofool yes indeed its a good option. Just dont forget to buy and replace the original ball mount. With those 1inch ball mount with adjustable 1/4 inch screw (2 separate piece). Thank me later. The orignal ball mount if u overtighten it with your hand you can break it and it is stuck inside the torch forever

    I've just seen a few videos of you. Basically super nice and well done! Super underwater shots. I am a diver myself and to be honest I am very disappointed to see how you or divers around you hold on to corals or lie on them. Yes, I know sometimes there's no other way and yes, it's not so bad with rocks. Nevertheless, as a diver you should disturb the underwater world as little as possible. Especially with corals.

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  4 місяці тому

      @Alex-ry3ug thanks alot Alex for the kind words. I didn't lay on corals or seabed. Tbh in malapascua everywhere is fire coral u can't lie there. and as a divemaster myself I hate people doing so too. I do sometimes uses 2 finger nails to stabilise myself against current. But if i cant do it ill just miss the shot. Its ok for me :) My rig is neutral buoyant hence if I don't touch my camera it neither goes up or down.. it just stay in mid air. To get extreme close to seabed shots is to be neutrally buoyant as a diver.. make sure nothing is hanging out and fins are not support onto anything. Once mastering neutral buoyancy anyone can be just 10cm above seabed or hover at ease. By then the person air could even last at least 80min before 50bar remaining. Hope this clarifies and hope you enjoy the video without disappointment :)

    • @Alex-ry3ug
      @Alex-ry3ug 4 місяці тому

      @@lazydivermel Hi, thanks for the clarification! That's very true, sometimes you have to stabilize yourself slightly with one finger. And I completely understand the point about being just above the ground. Then it just looked like that to me in some of the videos. I've been diving in Malapasqua and Moalbol myself and was sometimes horrified at how divers treat the environment at both dive sites. Primarily because of a lack of diving experience and lack of knowledge.

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  4 місяці тому +1

      I replayed my I see what you mean! There is a local diver in my video with fin on the ground! Yes in moalboal i think they dont really care i saw divers standing on seabed and i use my duck horn to alert their Dive Guide to control them.. in malapascua i think its pretty control and dont think anyone want to get sting by fire corals haha.. By the way Im going malapascua this weekend again!

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  4 місяці тому +1

      And yes if u look closer in my video..especially in those low angle shots..it's not all super stable because I'm not mounting my camera on the rocks or seabed or using any form of tripod

    • @lazydivermel
      @lazydivermel  8 місяців тому

      Haha they are really cute with those big eyes. Generally thresher sharks are very shy. Hence when they did not see me.. I swim forward.. when they are looking I breathe out very little bubble, stay low to sea bed and don't look eye to eye.. this is how I get close to them
