He's too broke to hire someone. 3. He honestly believes he's better at voice acting than anyone he can find. So, the three options are, he's alone, broke, or egotistical.
He probably pissed off the other guy in the suit and everyone he tried to hire, ran out of money to keep going, didn't have any friends that could fill the role, and thought "I'm better than those other guys anyways, I'll just do it myself!"
He’s outright egotistical. He fired the actress for Mama Cat because she wouldn’t date him, then fired Jason (Cool Cat’s actor) because Derek believed Jason tried to get with Mama Cat’s actress. Derek being alone is because he couldn’t help but push everyone away because he wants things his way.
I mean, number 3 is a given, he's like 50% ego and 50% delusion. He probably wants to have all the prominent roles in his films. He casts himself in every film he makes...
I honestly don’t know who I’m more excited to see, the worlds only civilian harrier jet or Beaver, either one of these characters of all time are sure to be worthy additions to the CCCU.

I think a regular person would have to survive about two extremely severe car crashes to even approach having something like Derek's mushy broken brain.

Daddy Derek is such a fascinating creature. According to my google searches, he is American: born in Virginia and has lived in California and Nevada throughout his career. And yet, his grasp of American English baffles me. His scripts are so confusing, and one might think he is trying to use simplified English in his “kids content,” but even when he is speaking out of character his accent (speech impediment?) and poor comprehension of English grammar always makes me think he’s somehow ESL. The American education system failed this boomer but at least he’s having fun with it.
I applied for this movie and daddy Derek rejected me 😞 There was a casting call for that dirty dog fart scene and THAT’S what they went with. That looked pathetic.
I kinda already knew it was the case but Adam spelling it out that Derek could make a cool cat movie every week really puts things into perspective. Like, what is he doing with his time? He doesn’t need a crew, he doesn’t need a set, he doesn’t even need other actors. Just film a few hours of footage of him in the Cool Cat costume every week, edit it down and upload a 20 minute video every week or so. Then if he wants to sell DVDs or get onto streaming services, he creates exclusive paywall content that actually does require those extra actors or whatever. It’s the perpetual mystery of Derek that you know exactly why he does what he does, but you’re also mystified by how he can be so lazily incompetent at the same time.
