    I have a JVC GR-C1 that is loading super slow, it shuts off before it completes the loading cycle. Also I replaced both belts, there isn't a loading belt. Sometimes I get it to complete the cycle and it will work.

    VHSC, the format that should never have even existed. Here in the UK, the format died a death when 8mm took almost the entire camcorder market, manufacturers either swapped sides (such as Sharp) or gave up (Philips) and even Matsushita built 8mm camcorders (not sure what brand they were marketed as). Only JVC and Panasonic brands slogged on trying to sell these things to grannies who knew no better, until miniDV came along.

      @@michaelturner4457 no VHSc only existed because jvc would never support 8mm video. Full size VHS was too big so they came out with this crap. Vhsc was the poorest quality camcorders except for the Fisher price pxl2000

    I had 2 different cameras given to me this last week, they're not quite as old as the one your working on in this video but, I think they're pretty cool looking. They both take the miniature DVDs.
    #1 Cam is a Canon DC210 DVD camcorder.
    #2 Cam is a Hitachi DZ-GX5020A Model.
    The last one I had to charge up with my power supply. They both work, I just need to take the time to figure out what each one does. Both of them came with a disk. One of them works with a rewritable disk.
    I think they are two pieces of cool technology & it's amazing how they can cram all the electronics into such a small space. I wouldn't want to work on them try to fix them if they were broke . I've watched you do it on some videos, it's pretty amazing! Everything nowadays is solid-state and a lot easier to make, for the manufacturers and a lot easier to work on, for the repair guys.

    what you can do about camcorder batteries. gutt out the nicd batteries and keep the baseplate , get a dc to dc converter (usually a few bucks on ebay) , and use 18650 liion cells / powerbank

    I found my family's old Panasonic PV-A228 camcorder that uses these VHSC tapes... They play back fine and I was able to digitize some good memories for them, but the audio has some quite terrible flutter when being played back. Sounds like people are "talking into a fan", y'know? Anyone got tips on how to approach this?

      Could have been. Impatient people. Send a text and expect a reply instantly. I didn't reply so they sent another asking if I received it, and then another asking for a response. It was a pain in the ass person that thinks they are my friend. Wants me to go and fix a cable on his house that he damaged. I told him to call his internet provider and get them out. (He is a customer of the competition to my employer so there is not a snowball's chance in hell I am helping him). Of course he says I will pay me but that is beside the point. I don't do any work for anyone that I do on my day job. Ever. That is what I am paid to do at work and my employer would have a very big problem with that. The fact that people have the nerve to call me at home wanting me to do under table work just blows my mind. I can do av repairs at home because it does not cause a conflict of interest at work, but I will not do any work for anyone that involves any type of home networking or security equipment work such as cameras. I demo the diy cameras and how to set them up but I can't install them because I do that as my day job and will never jeopardize my day job by doing the same work off the books. I don't want to create any confusion of conflict of interest.

    This might sound comically strange, but I think that ‘90s camcorders made for VHS-C and Video 8, particularly those made by Sony, are kinda shaped like wrens, with the pop- up eyepiece resembling the jutting tail. 😂

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  2 роки тому +2

      I believe the reason that cameras were designed to look like they did was so that they resembled the movie cameras of the 50s and 60s and 70s. I much prefer to camcorder that you put up on your shoulder because you could use it for a much longer period of time then the handycam style. but then I was trained as a professional camera operator when I went to school. Yes I went to broadcast School that was my first choice of employment. Thinking back now though I'm glad I didn't go down that road because I know many a camera operator that has big time back problems now from carrying around 40 lb BETACAM all day and that's what those original ones weighed.

    I have a Sony 8mm tape camcorder and a canon dv tape camcorder too,,,just imagine what it would b like if u came across one of them for repairs,,,as they're smaller than the compact vhs camcorders.
    My cameras still work as they should,,,even tho I don't have a lot of use for them,,,as I actually have a Sony hd camera which records on the sd card,,,but pity it does not have a viewfinder,,,only the swing out display screen to see the picture and indicators.
    The other 2 old camcorders both have viewfinder eyepieces and viewscreens too.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  4 роки тому

      I still have a ccdtr81 hi8. I fixed it a few times. I have 2 HDV cameras that use the minidv tape to record and play hd video. They will also work in sd as well. I have a jvc hd camera that records to sd cards. Popped the image sensor on that with a laser. Jvc have shitty sensors as I have never damaged my Sony. Speaking of Sony my first hd sd based camera the cx220 had no viewfinder. My son stole that one and he probably doesn't know where it is now. My current production cameras are sony 4k cameras. An hdr ax100 and ax33. The 33 being the primary camera as it is small enough for my jib crane. Both have eyepiece viewfinders. The ax100 has an oled eye piece. Talk about a great viewfinder. I use that pretty much exclusively. They both have flip out monitors as well and hdmi ports for use with external monitor. They are old by today's standards. I think I got the ax100 in 2015. That is ancient for a camera but sony gave it a software update that made it like a new camera and gave it 100mbit recording. It has a 1" sensor which delivers a stunning picture.

      Ok,,,u have a ccdtr81 hi 8 mm video camera. It had just reminded me of our first standard canon 8mm video camera we had bought back as a family in 1992,,,b4 going on a 76 day romantic European tour,,,covering France,,,Belgium,holland,Germany,Italy,Austria,,and Switzerland,,,along with Norway,,Sweden,and Denmark in Scandinavia.
      We did our own tour in the uk by vehicle rental and staying at many bed and breakfast private homes.
      That camera went to a lot of work in recording that trip,,,along with other multiple trips my parents had overseas,,,and in Australia. We had a few troubles with that camera,,,mainly with the sound,,,and then the viewfinder died,,,camera was still working,,,,but eventually retired in the end in 2003,,,as that is when they had bought the new canon dv tape camcorder,,and it does take an sd card for taking pics and short videos too. That camera must've got mishandled one day,,as it had damage on the lens ring. Had found out later there was no picture showing from camera mode,, due to a broken zoom lens diopter thing,,,but it still played the tapes ok. It was repaired,,,and it still does work,,,has being in storage,,,but i kept the batteries charged regularly.
      I have 2 Sony camcorders,,,one as a digital 8mm which only gives a maximum of 90 mins in lp mode. The 2nd Sony hd camcorder I have is only 6 years old,,,records up to at least 6 hours in hd,,long play recording mode,,,on a 64 gb memory card.
      Sounds like u had repaired your hi8 camcorder a few times,,,and u have also 2 hdv cameras that use mini dv tapes to record and play hd video on a tape,,and sd card as well,,,but never really heard of hd recording on a tape b4. And u have a jvc camcorder that records to sd cards too. But didn't know that jvc had shitty sensors,,as u had one go pop with a laser,,,what happened there?
      I know jvc were the inventors of vhs video recorders too.
      I think u have the same Sony cx 220 hd camera like i have here in Australia,,,and yes,,no viewfinder,,,which made it so hard to see the lcd screen when recording in daylight hours. Pity how your son stole it,,and now he,s lost it on you? You should make him get u a new one for replacement. With the 4k cameras u have now,,,is it one of them you use to do the videos on you tube on the jib crane?
      At least the picture and sound quality are really excellent as i have watched many of your videos now and learn a bit more too on repairing my vintage stereo equipment,etc, I have here in Australia.

      @12voltvids  4 роки тому +3
