The last scene of this movie is just pure genius. Elio stared at the fire crying in silence, reliving the beautiful memories and hurt by the last bit of hope that died when Oliver called at the same time. Behind him, his mother and the housekeeper continued preparing for dinner, letting Elio have his moment. That’s a metaphor for life - it goes on. And it goes on for Elio too. SPOILERS!! Most of Find Me isn’t about Oliver and Elio… the first half of the book is Mr. Perlman falling in love with a young woman named Miranda (him and Mrs. Perlman get divorced after Elio went to college), the second part is Elio having a romance with an older man about 15 years after the events of CMBYN, the third part is a short snippet of Oliver’s life (and thoughts) where he had a going away party from his job that reminded him of Elio, and the last part (only about 10 pages) is Oliver and Elio. In the end of CMBYN (book), Oliver visits the villa 20 years after for one night in the middle of traveling and that’s how the book ends. The author changed it up a bit in Find Me, where Oliver actually goes back to live with Elio in the villa at this time (Mr. Perlman has died, Mrs. Perlman is old and dying, and Miranda, the girl Mr. Perlman fell in love with later on, is living there to with a 10 year old son, named Oliver, that’s Mr. Perlman’s and Miranda’s son). Oliver and Elio just kind of “live happily ever after” together, acknowledging that the child is basically a product of their love. Elio and Oliver’s ending is really short and unsatisfactory, the writing isn’t half as good as CMBYN and many people think the author sacrificed good story telling for a happy ending. Tbh, I don’t think CMBYN was ever supposed to have a sequel, and the only reason Find Me was written was due to the success of CMBYN movie. The author even changed a ton of stuff from the first book in Find Me to align with what had been changed for the move. So long story short, Elio and Oliver live happily ever after while raising Elio’s half-brother named Oliver. But most of the book is about Mr. Perlman and Miranda.
"Right now there's sorrow...pain...don't kill it" I will admit this line totally changed the way I look at grief We might not realise it but pain is beautiful too
The scene where Elio is watching the bonfire after talking to Oliver just kills me every time . The way he's sad because the person he loves left but at the same time he's happy that he could experience all that , all the emotions and feel alive like his dad told him . It's so meaningful 🤧
Yes, I didn't think of that. He was following his dad's advice to feel the good as well as the bad. I'm too sensitive for life. My feeling literally destroy me. I can't feel them fully or I will suicide.
My favourite part of this movie is that they never say I love you. They say call me by your name and I'll call you by mine , this line is incomprehensible.
every time elio whispers his own name on the phone, i feel like someone reached down my throat, pulled my heart out of my chest and stepped all over it.
It rlly does. I mean he's basically begging oliver not to forget the nights and memories they shared. Almost a plea for his love. Its just a beautiful movie
What Elio's dad said... Is something every single person in this world should hear... And I hope there are people like him the world who respect the beauty of nature and accept it whole heartedly, his words honestly did touch my heart... They were beautiful and true... Everyone deserves a dad who thinks like that
It's so fascinating how the movie easily makes you forget that the story is about two men falling in love with each other. They didn't point that out once in the movie. It's just pure love and that's it.
@@humminbird6990 Just like you say, that's what caught me from this movie, nothing forced, nothing prejudiced or stuffed with moral questioning (hypocrisy) or discrimination that only produces boredom. This movie is necessary to see it several times, once is not enough. It does not seem anything crude but real and natural.
There was an interview where Luca the director had said that this story wasn't necessarily about gay or straight but more so about two free spirits falling in love for the first time
1:55 This is where I started to tear up. The way that Elio is looking at Oliver with such awe, with so much adoration and love. And the way Oliver is doing the same. There was no need for words.
Exactly this. It just gets me every single time. I think it's a dream of everyone to find someone who looks at you that way and is just in complete awe of you forever ❤
I wish they kept the ending of the book for the movie, they end up together and live in the summer house together, then I wouldn't still be crying 14 days after watching the movie for the first time and having now watched it 7 times.
wait I thought he just came to visit?? doesnt Oliver still have his family? I know after 20 years elio wasnt over him but I thought Oliver was the one trying to make the hard decision and keep them apart. I took that ending as them growing comfortable as friends in love, not lovers reunited.
@@cityofgone74 honestly, your probably right. I've only heard a little about the book and someone told me what Isaid happened, I haven't read it myself.
LoubieLou 17 In Call me by your name (the book) they didn't end up together. Elio just vist Oliver after fifteen years without any contact. Oliver is married and Elio single but both remeber what they had and still love eachother. Oliver is afraid that Elio didn't forgive him that he just walked away. But finally 20 years after the italien summer they spend together they end up together at the last chapter of Find me the second book in this universe .
I’m hella sleep deprived and when I was watching this, It felt like my third eye was opening and I felt the emotions. Has anyone ever gotten that feeling or sensation of being there and feeling everything? It’s like I’m in an out of body experience and reliving another life.
For me its kind of a nostalgic feeling about something Ive never experienced before, like you remember things that youve never experienced? Thats how i feel it
I know this comment was a year ago lol but I just watched the movie and felt every emotion along with the movie. Some I haven't felt in quite some time.
Am I the only one who don't get over the fact that it's impossible for Oliver and Elio to forget eachother and that they twenty years later still feel the same?😭🥰
I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE GET OVER THIS MOVIEEEE i watch it every year, it always has the same impact on me. call me by your name is most likely one of the most beautiful movies to ever exist. the entire vibe is set so gorgeous and calming. the story of two secret lovers. the affection they have for each other is all a person could ask for. elio being so needy and oliver being this calmer, older man is genuinely a great addition. i love this movie, it’ll always stay in my top 3. my heart gets torn to shreds every single time i watch it, the emotional attachment builds as the movie goes on and then it all falls. and the last scene with the phone call is so impactful, oliver knows and elio knows they both want it. and all the side characters are also amazing, mafalda having this protective energy while elio’s mother is always calm and collected, always smoking in her beautiful outfits. elio’s dad being so wise and passionate was also a great part of the whole plot. the scenery of northern italy mixed with the passionate love they had, the best thing i have ever watched.
Forever one of my favorite films. So much more than a love story. I feel so alive with the depth of emotions I feel when I watch this film. It is just so cinematically well done with the writing, the acting, the setting, the colors, the music, the editing, etc. I will never get over it. I will forget it. It’s hard for me to express in words fully though. This video is really beautiful, and I think portrays that feeling really well.
Have anyone read Find me? It's so sad and beautiful after almost twenty years they still in love with eachother and can't forget what they had. Besides Oliver is married and have two almost adult sons Elio and he get again together after all these years without any contact.😭🥰
That sounds so sad, they wasted 20 of their best years with people they didnt love and only realized they were meant to be after 20 years. Must feel like they wasted so much time together 😥 Elio is then 37 and Oliver 45 im assuming?
I'll never get over this movie. it feels like I'm in an unending trance and I'll never come out of it maybe because i don't want to. I'll always keep it close to my heart

I swear, I only watched this movie to lessen my boredom and to at least console my lonely 16 year-old heart, yup, I'm that young, hence I never knew that I'd be drowned deeply to Ellio and Oliver's love story. The feeling was indeed different, I felt like I was the one who fell in love and at the same time got heart broken instead of them. After having to see this movie, a new door opened up for me and even if it did hurt me, I can still say that this movie is one of the movies that showed me how good love can be. haha, my eyes isn't innocent anymore though. Also, that 'I don't want you to go' or something like that from Elio hits different.
How I wish this was a series with never ending episodes. I was too sad to know that It'll only be an hour and that ending made me very sad for like a week

This was so beautiful and such a good depiction of their love. My Heart breaks for Elio so much and through this video it almost felt like I was seeing his flashbacks.
This is beautiful, I really love this movie and all the things that can be related to it. Such an incredible storyline and cinematography, everything matches even the incredible soundtrack. Elio & Oliver forever in our hearts.
the most amazing movie about gay love ever....so natural and moving....I pray there will be a sequel no matter what the ending these two actors are so special.....
I thought I’d never get over this movie. Then I did 2 years back. Then one week ago I recalled it, I reread the book and rewatched the movie and now I’m more desperate than I ever was the first time. Damn this sucks in a whole new level.
I once had a relationship like that but did not go any further because of how "wrong everything seemed" by the eyes of others, and while I was watching the movie, I was kind of jealous of how lucky Elio was...having those extremely supportive parents understanding completely what was going on between the two, being so comprehensive as well... this is a great movie to show to those parents that are not able to comprehend what their children really are going through.
Such a beautiful movie! Their love was so pure and innocent! Although, imo, the character, Oliver, came on as too strong or not too into their relationship or not delicate enough for someone like Elio, still loved the raw emotions between them and the moments they had together! Such a lovely story!
The thing about this movie is that the words 'gay', 'homosexual', 'sexuality' ... were never mentioned, which tells us that this is about strong chemistry and connection and attraction of two souls. It was never about labels. Such a great book and movie too.
The castle in this film, when Elio and Oliver were at the war monument, is 15 minutes away from where I live. Back in 2012, when I moved to Lombardy region, I visited that castle in Pandino regularly. When I saw it in the movie I was smiling so hard my face hurt. The villa and the "pellicceria" (fur store) are 30 minutes away from my home. I visited them both today. I cried like a baby - sobbed profusely. My partner thought I was losing it. He said, "What's going on?" I asked him if he had ever seen a film that touched him so deeply that he had to visit the places for comfort. He smiled and nodded. It was surreal to trace the steps of Elio and Oliver. My heart is still shattered, but my soul is slightly more peaceful. This film is a beautiful love experience.
@@momsspaghetti2246 Having lived in Italy 10 years now, most Italians are calm sorts. LOL. So they probably look, think we're all crazy, and just carry on with their day. Bahahahahaha
I cried during this and the movie, How could Oliver get married when he's in love with elio! He made me angry and sad and he put me on an emotional roller coaster. I cant believe he did that! Elio snatch that mans up in the next movie please! :( Elio and Oliver are the best couple portrayed in any movie ever. UGH! So beautiful and mesmerizing.. So adorable! :( And heartbreaking what a lovely couple... They had everything anyone could ever need in one another.
I love love this movie . Ok so I bought it on vudu when it first came out but for whatever reason never watched it til today. And oh my God. This is one of THE greatest love stories I have ever seen. Not once in the movie do these two say "I love you" to eachother ..as it wasn't needed. That is just brilliant. And the realness , the chemistry between the actors blew me away. Plus This movie turned me on more than most romance and I am a straight woman. Not all love stories have happy endings . At the end we see Elio crying, then it turns to a smile . He knows they shared something very special together . It was very realistic ending. The music choice , the beautiful location. Ugh everything was just perfect. Beautiful film I will cherish forever ❤
I cry listening to the soundtrack I cry watching this movie I cry because I felt like I was there I have never felt this way about any movie I’ll never be the same and to me that okay
I can’t get over them.. they truly loved each other, even if it was just for one minute, just for two weeks, Elio gave his life to him, gave his soul to Oliver, Oliver gave his love, his future, his soul too to him, they demonstrated that love is love, no matter how old you are, no matter what’s your gender, nothing matters more than their love. I’m crying right now cause they gave a chance that one day someone will love me the way Oliver did with Elio, just not now, they made me believe in love, in a love that is smiling, touching, endless, more than just physical, love no matter what it’s what they had, i know they at least came across each other ok? But their break up really broke me, my heart, just, couldn’t take it.
I don't know why but Elio's father's speech affected me the most. I don't and can't actually cry about movies but at that part I couldn't help myself but cry.

So long story short, Elio and Oliver live happily ever after while raising Elio’s half-brother named Oliver. But most of the book is about Mr. Perlman and Miranda.
Timothee gave a stunning performance there!!! He's absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏
So did Armie. He was a brilliant partner for Timothee
"Right now there's sorrow...pain...don't kill it"
I will admit this line totally changed the way I look at grief
We might not realise it but pain is beautiful too
The scene where Elio is watching the bonfire after talking to Oliver just kills me every time .
I just love elio's dad's point of view of love . Just amazing.
We are one, I am you, you are me, there is no separation between us, deeper than love
The real name of the video is “Me crying for 3 minutes and 15 seconds straight”
every time elio whispers his own name on the phone, i feel like someone reached down my throat, pulled my heart out of my chest and stepped all over it.
Exacto 👍
I agree. The love develops as it goes. And you feel for it. It just feels natural the way they portray.
There was an interview where Luca the director had said that this story wasn't necessarily about gay or straight but more so about two free spirits falling in love for the first time
This movie expresses the exact feeling of being in love
this movie gives me nostalgia for something i've never experienced.
The way Ellio always seemed to get lost by Oliver’s touch was so beautiful to me❤️
Bruh I started crying at 1:12
SAMEEEEE
same?!
Me as well😣😣😣
SAMEEEE OMG
samee :(
This film was something else...... Bringing smile and tears, together.
This film helped me to finally come to terms with my sexuality and accept it as something natural and beautiful
that's so awesome!!! i'm so proud of you
Natural ? beautiful ?😂 Are you stupid
@@popcorn9969 Seems to me like you should ask yourself that... Why wouldn't it be natural? Or beautiful?
@@popcorn9969 yes, natural and beautiful. Now go cry to your mommy and play videogames
Hey stranger, I'm happy for you
1:55 This is where I started to tear up.
@@s.rae.m tearing up again😩
My god that part l love, the way they look at each other they are besotted.. ❤❤
@@leasophiebuchholz8087 thankyou!
They are making a movie sequel
the scene with his dad was one of the most beautiful scenes ever written in the history of cinema.
*This film is a masterpiece but every single part it's art by itself*
Timothée Chalamet,Armie Hammer and the others are *"art"*
i am not over this movie, i will never be over this movie, and im ok with that
I’m hella sleep deprived and when I was watching this, It felt like my third eye was opening and I felt the emotions. Has anyone ever gotten that feeling or sensation of being there and feeling everything? It’s like I’m in an out of body experience and reliving another life.
For me its kind of a nostalgic feeling about something Ive never experienced before, like you remember things that youve never experienced? Thats how i feel it
It’s so wonderful guys
I know this comment was a year ago lol but I just watched the movie and felt every emotion along with the movie. Some I haven't felt in quite some time.
1:27 - 1:29 that smile Oliver had was the most sweetest thing I have ever seen.. He was smiling at the innocence of elio.. That was so cute.
They really do make the most realistic, natural couple.
Am I the only one who don't get over the fact that it's impossible for Oliver and Elio to forget eachother and that they twenty years later still feel the same?😭🥰
This movie has such beautiful scenery. I mean it’s like a walking Pinterest board
I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE GET OVER THIS MOVIEEEE
i watch it every year, it always has the same impact on me.
call me by your name is most likely one of the most beautiful movies to ever exist. the entire vibe is set so gorgeous and calming. the story of two secret lovers. the affection they have for each other is all a person could ask for. elio being so needy and oliver being this calmer, older man is genuinely a great addition. i love this movie, it’ll always stay in my top 3. my heart gets torn to shreds every single time i watch it, the emotional attachment builds as the movie goes on and then it all falls. and the last scene with the phone call is so impactful, oliver knows and elio knows they both want it. and all the side characters are also amazing, mafalda having this protective energy while elio’s mother is always calm and collected, always smoking in her beautiful outfits. elio’s dad being so wise and passionate was also a great part of the whole plot. the scenery of northern italy mixed with the passionate love they had, the best thing i have ever watched.
i love the way that elio just melts over oliver... i mean that's love
The saddest thing about this movie is that they never said "I Love You" to each other once
they didn‘t need to. they just loved each other and they didn’t actually need any words
@@moonandstars4209 Words don't come easy... :D
That's the point, it's not about saying it, it's more about feeling it
@Wiktoria Sklarek Probably. Although I wish that there was a pause during that scene and they admitted their love for eachother.
ugh baby but they did. the whole movie was a clear, i love you.
This video is really beautiful, and I think portrays that feeling really well.
when i tell you im sobbing
One of the all-time great coming-of-age movies, is this one. Timothy is amazing in everything he does.
Have anyone read Find me? It's so sad and beautiful after almost twenty years they still in love with eachother and can't forget what they had. Besides Oliver is married and have two almost adult sons Elio and he get again together after all these years without any contact.😭🥰
I don’t exist You're welcome😊
So in Find Me they end up together?
Brown Yes, they do😍
I read it and I loved it so much. Because you can clearly see that Oliver wasn't happy with his life, because Elio wasn't in it.
That sounds so sad, they wasted 20 of their best years with people they didnt love and only realized they were meant to be after 20 years. Must feel like they wasted so much time together 😥 Elio is then 37 and Oliver 45 im assuming?
This movie will always hurt me, no matter how many times I've watched it.
I was waiting for the “I remember everything” 😭😭💔💔💔
I am currently sobbing at this beautiful edit. Their love is truly just so beautiful.
This monologue deserves an Oscar
the way he was crying in the car over the heartbreak, is waaaaay to relatable
I'll never get over this movie. it feels like I'm in an unending trance and I'll never come out of it maybe because i don't want to. I'll always keep it close to my heart
This love story on a par with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet sonnet if not better!
ITS 4 AM IN THE MORNING I SHOULD NOT BE CRYING
Oh, no, that's the crying hour.
1:55 OH MY GODDDD 😭😭😭
**me clicking on this knowing very well that i will be crying by the end**
Elio's dad's words were pure gold. Can't forget them till now...
Elio, is like a force of nature.
Impossible to resist. Unbelievable to love. Just an amazing film.
Not even a few seconds in and my hearts hurting-ugh its so lovely 🥺
this is so beautiful! gives me chills. 🥰🤩
i really need to rewatch before the sequel comes out. i watched it maybe in 2018 & i forgot that his father said this & wow 🥺
3 comments of “i cant ever get over this movie” in the last month SAME!!
Also, that 'I don't want you to go' or something like that from Elio hits different.
this movie will always be in my heart. i have never felt this feeling for a movie.
That kiss and hug in the alley was slowed down to perfection, I felt it so much more
How I wish this was a series with never ending episodes. I was too sad to know that It'll only be an hour and that ending made me very sad for like a week
Gosh that would be heaven on earth x
It’s so sad that their love for each other is fictional.
Oh darling, you need to watch more vids. Two heteros fell in love making this film. I haven't stopped celebrating since the recent news of Armie's divorce and freedom. Whatever happens, know that these two have a GENUINE connection of depth and beauty. ❤❤❤
@@soni8995 celebrating someone's divorce bcz it feeds into your delusion is really scumy. From what I've learned Armie has been going through mental health issues and your comment just accentuates the problem with this fandom.
You cannot just write stuff like that😭i literally froze for a few minutes when i read this comment 😭😭
well armie hammer is a cannibal now so i will say i’m a tiny bit glad it’s fictional
the father's speech---- 🥺🤧🤧
I’ve watched this movie 10 times in the last 3 days 😂✨ it’s like I think the ending will change
I feel you, girl
They showed their love in such a mysterious, so secretive way
i might have watched this at least 50 times and i’m not even kidding it’s been a month since i first came here IM OBSESSED with the music , the scenes and everything
UA-cam: so you moved on?
Me: yes.
UA-cam: Not on my watch
Me: Nooooooo *clicked.
i feel like we all want a love story like the one this two had
except for the ending.
the most amazing movie about gay love ever....so natural and moving....I pray there will be a sequel no matter what the ending these two actors are so special.....
no chance of that - unless the get the older lead replaced... he'll never work again for a Brand
2021 and I still can't get over this movie..
I need that too o.o but imagine the people living there regularly seeing fans of the movie visiting and breaking down crying xDD
@@momsspaghetti2246 Having lived in Italy 10 years now, most Italians are calm sorts. LOL. So they probably look, think we're all crazy, and just carry on with their day. Bahahahahaha
Does anyone else just love 1:35 when Elio turns and messes Olivers hair.. my heart melts ❤❤
Me: I'll check this one off my list since it's an Oscar contender
This film: You will never be finished thinking about this story
i'm not crying, you are
This movie will remain etched in my heart forever. Nothing and no one will ever change this❤
I cried during this and the movie, How could Oliver get married when he's in love with elio!
This film broke my heart and still does every time I watch it 🥺😭
I cry listening to the soundtrack I cry watching this movie I cry because I felt like I was there I have never felt this way about any movie I’ll never be the same and to me that okay
Beautifully put together, really caught the essence. Thank you
I wish I could just reset my brain just to watch it again for the first time.
2:01 - u can just see the deep love in their eyes...
I just watched this film for the first (and ninth) time a few weeks ago. I still can't get it out of my head. So beautiful.
I don't know why but Elio's father's speech affected me the most. I don't and can't actually cry about movies but at that part I couldn't help myself but cry.
