Mahalo , Eric , for this great video. So nice to watch it on a lazy sunday morning... I´ve been to Maui twice 2017/2020 and both times Iao Valley was closed due to bad weather conditions. Next year i will try it again and will have a look for this secret hike.
Interesting to see that hiking trail. Good of you to tackle it. We have clambered part of the river, but have to be mindful of flash floods in that rainy valley. Different to see the jungle instead of a beach today.
Eric only you got the energy to walk that stream at 50 years old I am impressed , wife said keep up with him why don't you . no comment back needed you're way to busy probably climbing Mt Everest today .

I use to run up Iao Valley 3-4 x a week after work, from Wailuku to the needle. I actually won the race, ladies, one year. Don't think they have it now. Always loved that run. Very special place. I could smell the guava as you walked.

I’ve been enjoying the beach and hiking tour videos as I plan my trip to Maui. Please keep making them! One quick question - how long would you estimate this hike took you? Would two hours be sufficient time to see the needle and enjoy a plunge or two?
I live here and it’s worth it when you’re visiting to visit Iao… there is a sacred spot near the path by the bridge where it is just silence… you can’t hear the river… you’ll love it…
