      A few really cool things have been implemented / some of which - not so video worthy.

    First, thank you for this thorough and practical series. What an incredible resource!
    Do you know of the possibility of using drum kit instruments such as the slate ssd5? In some DAWs, you can create separate tracks for each drum sample to mix them individually. Does Luna have a feature to do something similar, or can you only mix the instrument as a whole? Thanks!

    • @TheSteveKinney

      What your are referring to is known as multi output vsti.
      This isn’t built into Luna just yet, the rumor is that it’s coming soon. No telling if it will be the next thing they release or 4 versions from now.
      But it’s one of the most requested features on forums.

    Hi Steve, I newbie to Luna. Converted from Logic Pro. I am just surprised how as a platform, it handles the load of plugins and VSTs, which I was so disappointed with Logic. My main disappointment is that even after upgrading to Studio Max, I often had issues with VSTs crashing the processing core, even with a 256 buffer. Thanks to your amazing tutorials - I just created my first project in Luna. I was blown away by how Luna handled the same VST loads without any crashes. Your dedicated Luna tutorials are excellent and to the point. UAD should make you their official Luna ambassador for your fantastic work. Please continue sharing your insight on how to make various types of track/instrument sound amazing with minimum use of UAD plugins.

    Hi Steve, Excellent video regarding midi. I still use some old synths like JV-1080 and EMU Proteus 2000 so it's great to be able to instantiate them in LUNA. One issue I cannot figure out is the fact that the midi STATUS indicator never lights up no matter what I play.
    I can trigger the sounds in the Shape instruments and record them to a midi track but despite the record and arm input monitoring being activated the is no indication of midi input.Any idea why this might be? Regards Alan

    Another great video Steve. Is there no numerical data on the velocity / volume? Either when changing volume on the note or in the automation lane. On most DAWs it's 0 - 127 and display the midi data of a note somewhere, there's nothing here! Also, no split note tool? It all seems a little too basic and not ready for proper midi editing yet.

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  3 роки тому

      It would still be the same 0-127 here too. However, from memory you're right - I don't believe that there is a visual number anywhere, but I could be wrong on that one. ..Additionally, there is a split note function, although I didn't mention it in the video, when you switch your "workflow" to midi - it's a tool that shows up in the list at the top, additionally there is a keyboard shortcut that I'm failing to remember at this hour as I type this... I wanna say it's Command+E.. don't quote me on that though. Cheers mate!

    Hey Steve I live in Nashville as well. These videos are great but I have one question: How best would you get separate outputs from Addictive Drums 2 in LUNA? I've basically been recording stems as separate audio by soloing tracks but maybe you know a better way? Thanks for these vids they're really helpful.

    • @TheSteveKinney
      @TheSteveKinney  2 роки тому +1

      What I do is build out the drum part, get the Midi instrument sound to where I’m happy with it, and then I make sure that there are no effects on the track and no Luna bus summing to effect the signal
      Then systematically bounce each source to wav and then re-import.
      Really cumbersome - wish that was fixed ASAP.
      I do it this way just because I’m weird. You could certainly do a virtual track and record - the way you say. I just always try to make sure there are no other effects in the path.

      Hey brotha!
      Yeah I’ll look into it. It’s funky right now. The way I do it at the moment is just build the midi performance and then when I’m vomited today the sound I bounce each element of the ez kit to wav on its own.
      They don’t have multi output just yet. So still some work around there.

      I prefer the midi workflow in Luna personally.
      Logic was super powerful, but overly complex. I had to do a TON of searching on how to use it when I first got started LOL
      Lunas is simple, stripped back.
      The only thing that can be annoying at first is the auto sizing of the midi roll.
      But using the “e” button on your track to enlarge, is the perfect way of getting into the “midi” view of the piano roll. Essentially built in to the timeline, genius.
      Where as logic has a dedicated view - but with all the tools.
      Either way, it’s all about making cool sounds mate! Cheers dude!
