Yeah, the OST is really catchy. CloudBurst reminded me the music from first Unreal Tournament, and the ones with vocals, like Mechsoul and Terror just stole the show for me.
Ah.. my first MP game alongside Tribes 1. The modding scene, the forums.. It was such a tight-knit community, with so much hope and desire to make it work out. I know they were inspired by BattleTech but this universe is so compelling, so divergent and has so many stories and culture to it.. I wish we have had gotten more.
Damn, are we twins? Starsiege was also my first online game followed by Tribes. Starsiege blew me away and then probably a few months later I saw Tribes shitting on the shelf, saw the starsiege logo on the box, flipped open the box top, and pretty much bought it immediately. Only worked well on 56k about a third of the time, but when it worked, it was something else.
I miss when games came packaged with lore. Starsiege had one of the best filled story, weapons, armor, and more. I'd only put Neverwinter Nights above it. Blizzard games maaybbeee.
@@xmansionbishop6327 Weird. It sounds like a cool game but it's completely different than either Starseige or Tribes. there is also a game coming out called Jetpack Battle that looks like a Tribes clone. I'll try them both when they come out. I miss the mechs though.

I freaking LOVE Starsiege! It was a great mech game. Great graphics, great sound design, great music, great voice acting, and great story. It's just too bad that Dynamix had so many issues, because this is one franchise that didn't need to just go away like it did. Still, it was very fun and I honestly wish there were a way that I could make it run smoothly without a bunch of cyber-sorcery. I tried the recent re-release and it didn't work out so well - something about the program pretending that my gamepad is my mouse, rather than my actual mouse which is a mouse. I'll try it beyond that if I can figure out a work around that doesn't require me to unplug my pad.
There is a game distributive with inbuild patches for modern OS, which I used for this recording. Look for starsiegeplayers.com. I wish the missions were longer, especially in the human campaign.

More than my 4K touch screen Lenova Yoga 710 I got as a Open Box at Best Buy in 2018 I use now, time to get a new one, a Gaming PC, perhaps I will build it myself.
I loved the Dies Irae missions as a kid, I always tried to save the other pilots from dying in the dialog, so I sent 1 squad mate with each harabec and Canon. I found out they they don't die and are teleported VERY far away, since I never triggered the combat on my side I was defending I found out that they are all just chilling like 15 minutes away from the mission area 😭

My favorite set up was a Basilisk with two emps and two mfac's, a fast charge shield gen and just running around blasting anything I could.

Where did you get the game and how did you run it? I got it from the hirez archive and unfortunately i dont hear any dialogue and cant see the short videos in the mission briefing. Has anyone suggestions on how i can fix this?
Both one and two. Starsiege is phenomenal but the customization in the original two were so fun to tinker around with. Felt like machines had really taken Earth and humans had to scrap together whatever they could fuze together to survive.
I could never solo Prometheus without a cheese strat I would always build an olympian with long range missiles and i could target him in his egg and get a couple shots off before he came out (walking through the egg before it even unfolded for him) I think this strat always killed him before he gets a shot off on me
It shouldn't have been in this encounter as Prometheus was running with 2 mfacs. I believe they were using an invulnerable code. The best rig to use against Prometheus is quad blasters. The regular blaster has a range of 1200 meters. You can stay outside the range of Prometheus and do massive damage to him.
I was lucky with dodging its attacks, and near the the end Prometheus just turned away for some reason. It took me ten or so attempts to beat this boss. I think, that smart gun is the most powerfull weapon in this game, since it never miss and have second highest DPS.
@@Scorch0017 You're not wrong. But I hated dudes that rocked smart gun in multiplayer. It was kind of cheap there. The worst were s-gun goads and disrupter tank pairs.
I love how the game came with two huge books with details of the mechs and weapons. They put in a lot of effort to create the setting.
Yeah, the lore was more interesting, than the game itself.
Dynamix always did this. Loved their games for that reason.

First game who's Multiplayer I really dug into back in high school. Even hung around the old Message Forums Sierra had for their games.
