In Antigua 🇦🇬we call it both locust and stinking toe. Powdery texture that could choke you sometimes, but also became sticky in your mouth. We loved it as kids😋

We call this locust in Belize. Don't know why they say it stinks! Just a different smell- smells much better than 'stinky toes!' We loved eating these when we were small!

I am 70 years old , had some of it yesterday afternoon . This time of the year is the season for the ripe ones . There are two types a tiny one with two or three seeds is called stinking toe the larger one is called locusts . The tree is used in the manufacturing of furniture the fruit you eat the bark leaves and the shell of the fruit could be used for tea . It is said to have benefits in lowering blood sugar .

I think we only have 5 of those trees here on St.Thomas Virgin Islands 🇻🇮 We do pick them when they are solid brown and never had a problem. If the sound hollow when you tap them, they can eat when picked. Some Rastafarians make a drink from it also.
