The Eurasian Lynx was considered extinct for almost 150 years. Luckily, environmentalists have succeeded in reintroducing back it into the wild.
In our seventh mission, we helped made sure the Lynx population is thriving.
That’s not all! A six-months old baby lynx was trapped and orphaned - not able to survive on its own without her mother. After months of nursing and care, we released her back into the wild.

@@michko7979 Spannende Idee - macht total Sinn. Auffällig ist, dass alle anderen Katzenarten ohne diese Pinsel auskommen…

The moment she ran off into the forest. And then you said she seemed doing well. All the happy tears, I‘m legit crying 😭
💚 We were deeply touched as well 🐅
I came to comment the same thing! I was so happy the team got the cameras that allowed them to recognize some behaviors to indicate how well a lynx is faring in the wild. I don't know if it the camera placement for the out of the box shot was intentional, and it helped to direct her into the forest! She knew there was a person on her left, immediately after release, she when she scoped quickly to the right, saw something occupying the space so that straight ahead was her best shot. Literally, lol. Took her less time to sprint out of sight than I could stand up!
It's so nice to see how Germanys wildlife slowly comes back. Thank you guys for your work!
Thanks for your support 😊
The bigger the Community grows, the bigger the missions will be, the happier we will be.
Indeed! Thanks for your continuous support, Alexander! 👍
I'm in Canada and lived for some years in an area with Canada lynx. I often saw their tracks in winter but never managed to see a lynx. Too bad there were no trail cams in those days, because I usually saw the tracks in the same place. Best wishes for reintroducing your much larger and very beautiful Eurasian lynx back to their former range!
Thanks!😊 Hope you’ll have a chance to see one one day 🐯🐾💚
I loved how this video showcased the dedicated work of Ole and his team in protecting these beautiful lynx. The world needs more people like this 🌳❤
Thanks for your feedback - Ole and his team indeed do a fantastic work! 💪

Wow, I didn’t know that lynx could have territories as large as 40,000 hectares, that’s huge! They really are the elusive kings and queens of the forest! Would be amazing to spot one in the wild some day
Yeah, they definitely need their space! 👑
it‘s 4k hectares not 40k
I remember fondly playing a video game in the late 2000s callen "Don Cato" that tells the story of a lynx from the alps making his way to the Harz on his own. It was a great game that teached me a lot about nature and biodiversity in Germany!
Oh wow, I had no idea this game existed. Sounds like an amazing way to teach youngsters about nature! Will definitely look it up ☺
The release scene was so heartwarming! Seeing F15 sprint into the forest was a beautiful moment.
💚Yeah, it really was! Happy to hear that you felt that was, too ☺
Living up to her namesake.
Honestly I really feel like for the time I work each day earning money, but not having the time to help the planet
This sure is worth my money, and to see Nature Thrive once more.
Sadly many dont see it like myself and glue themself on the Road instead of working and investing properly.
Why make more probleme's instead of fixing them?
As a German I love the video so much.
And as a Member I sure loved it even more.
Thanks for your feedback and your support! 😊
Glad to have you as part of our community of doers 💪🏽 Together we can make a real difference 🐾
Such an important mission helping such an adorable animal ❤
🐅💚
Great video. Enjoyed every minute of it. It's fascinating how Lynx help maintain biodiversity through their "ecology of fear" by keeping prey animals on the move.
Thanks for your feedback! ☺ Lynx are fascinating creatures indeed and so is nature in general 😍
Love the visuals, drawing style in the vids
Thanks for the feedback! ☺️🐾
Thanks Ole! 👍💪✌
🙌
I LOVE lynx! You have not mentioned much about their communication, but it’s also very interesting! They use vocalizations like meows, chuffs and growls as well as scent marking with urine spraying to communicate and mark where their territory is.
True! It was in fact quite tough to pick the interesting facts to mention, cause there are sooo many!
YAY! Let’s protect our wildlife! They are so important…
Thank you so much for all the great work you and everyone involved is doing here!
I grew up in the palatine forest and actually saw a lynx once very early in the morning - miracle moment.
And they obviously use the brushes to create beautiful paintings 🙈
Oh wow - what a luck to have seen one!! Did it see you? I would have been in awe and terrified at the same time!
And yeah, lynx paintings are 🤩
Loved the stunning footage of the Lynx in their natural habitat! 😺
Thanks for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed it😊
Lynx are my new favorite animal 😍
We feel you 😁🐅💚
OMG these baby lynxes are so adorable!
They are! 🤩
Just wonderful animals and wonderful people. Love to those heroes❤️💪
Thanks so much 💚
They're so cute I can't 🥺 Also so exciting they're so close in Harz!
Yeah, it's hard to imagine that there actually IS so much wildlife so close to us! 🐅
I love lynxes ❤Thanks for sharing this amazing story
Thanks for your feedback and for your continuous support, Peter! 💚
What you guys are doing is amazing, thanks so much!
Thanks for your feedback and support ☺️
8:18 Bro has no right to be this cute 🙀🙀🙀🙀
🐯💚🐾
Ole and his collaborators have done a great work!
They did indeed! 💚
I really enjoyed this video! I think the brush tips on a lynx’s ear may be similar to how whiskers work, helping them sense where they’re going and possibly what is above them.
Thanks for your feedback! 💚 The idea with whiskers sounds very plausible indeed!
Obviously, the ear tufts are for the style and coolness factor. Great video.
😎 Happy yo hear you liked it! 😊
I love your videos and how they help me and others to see the problems in the wild and how people help deal with it❤
Thanks for your feedback 💚 Happy to hear that our missions resonate with you!
Thank you for another great video!
The ecology of fear was a really interesting concept. New to me, but totally makes sense. Great explanation!
Thanks for your feedback - happy you could learn something new 🙏
Amazing work again ❤
Thanks! 💚
This makes me so incredibly happy 🥰
We are really glad to hear it and to have you on our channel! 💚😊
what you're doing is great, thank you very much for your work! 💚💚💚
Thanks for your encouragement💚
Fantastic project. Glad it seems to be going so well. We need them to come home to the British Isles as well. Their (badly degraded) territories have been missing them for far too long.
Thanks! We also hope that there will be more and more successful projects like this one! 🙏
The great return of the fluffiest queen of the forest. Good luck F15!
The fluffiest queen - yes! Possibly my new favourite description of lynx 🤩🐯👑
I've learned so much from this video! Thanks for your work! 🙏
Thanks for your feedback! Happy to hear it ☺
I am amazed about your missions 😍 Each of them feels important, and also allows me to learn so much. Thank you!
Thanks so much for your feedback and kind words. Happy to know that they resonate with you ☺
Another amazing mission, thank you so much! And very proud and happy to have collected now my second badge! 💪💚😻
Thanks so much for your support, and congrats on the second badge! 🐅💚
great work!
Thanks! 🙏
That's amazing I love the work you guys do, and im glad f15 was able to go back to where she belongs, the work you guys do is truly amazing!
It is! 🐾Thanks for your feedback ☺
@@planet-wild yeah it's cruel what sort of traps that people put out, it's awful what they do to wildlife and they should be banned really
It‘s awesome to see such animals in Germany!! ❤😮
Can‘t wait for more… Let‘s create More and more beautiful ecosystems 🌏
Absolutely! Thanks for your continuous support 💚🐅
Great return of lynx, appreciate people who are working on it
Wunderbar 💜🐆
🐯💚
I wonder what subspecies of lynx are reintroduced to Germany and where did they come from? Also I hope it’s possible to create wildlife corridors that can interconnect the released lynxes so they don’t suffer degradation in the long run. Finally I wish your website would state clearly what it costs to be a member, how to join without having to submit your email first. I have seen other projects which do that upfront like Mossy Earth. I think this would benefit you as well.
Well done! Thanks to everyone who saved her and saw to it she went back to the wild!
Thanks for your support! 🙏
I really enjoy your channel growth! I hope the algorithm will pick up on all your videos, every one of them is a blessing! Never thought, that the lynx is something you should have encountered here in germany. Thanks for the efforts!
Thanks for your support, Florian! Very happy to hear that you've been enjoying our videos. 😊
Lynxes are one of beautiest wild cats in the world and Lynx is only wild cat what lives here in Northen Europe's Scandinavian Finland and that's why I wan't to protect Lynxes. One of my favourite movies from Finland is Boy and the Lynx where boy trying to save a lynx from hunters. I live in countryside around farms and big forests, I really hope to see a Lynx once in my lifetime. Lynx is one of cutest wild cats, I like Pumas, Phanters, Lions, Tigers and defienitily Leopards and Lumileopards. Wild cats and ancestors of today's cats are really interesting. Lynxes are cool wild cat beasts and defienitily on Winter they are interesting because thay can walking on the snow without diving under the snow. I will protect these beautiful animals with Planet Wild I wan't support your channel you do great work for our Home Planet Earth. 🌍🦁🐅🐆
Thanks so much for your feedback, and it's amazing to have such a fan of wild cats on board! 🐅💚
@@planet-wild yeah and maybe i'll join your website too
@@Leo-pd4fc would love to have you as part of our community! 💚
Great story @planetwild ! I always wonder why there aren't smaller GPS trackers instead of the chunky ones?
Well, it's always a trade off. These trackers need to have at least 18 month of battery life while sending their GPS position as often as possible, and at the same time they need to be robust and not too heavy. It basically comes down to the state of battery technology. Powering a tracker for this long isn't currently possible with smaller batteries 😕
Maybe brushed ears evolved without having a purpose. I've heard that as long as features of creatures don't make the latter go extinct the feature may stay--
That's an interesting thought! Thanks for sharing ☺
Soy de Ecuador y me encanta ver sus videos, saludos
Muchas gracias y saludos desde Berlin. 😊
Great Video! I’m so happy for the little Lynx!
Thanks! Us too!😊
When i was a kid the lynx was my favorite animal. My inner kid feels so happy, thankyou.

you guys are great, here in Zimbabwe most the places that relocate animals are the fronts for caged breeding and hunting
😢 Sad to hear it and hope that there will be more consciousness about wildlife protection soon enough.
I live in BC Canada - I saw a lynx once. Amazing athletics - jumped probably 10 feet straight up

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
8:38 "Very unique" I die screaming.
Just "unique". Uni is from the Latin for "one".
My guess is the tuffs are to help with camouflage and might actually act like whiskers too. I did read that it's thought on the American Lynx at least it helps with hearing too, though I'm not 100% sure how tuffs of fur would do that.
Interesting idea about them being whiskers! The theory about them helping with hearing is quite strong indeed, also for the Eurasian lynx 🐾
I think the hairs on their ears is connecting to improve the hearing. It like their mustache.
They can sense the prey movement becuase as hearing work is that a wave of air come into the ear but with them they also feel his movement...
I know Germany is lagging behind with it's defense budget but breeding our own F15s will not only decrease cost, it's also environmentally friendly because it's locally produced
Really wonderful! Thanks for your contribution ❤
Thanks for your support! 🙏
great!
🙏
I think the ear tuffts are for vibrational signalling. Either to enhance audio signals, or, to ensure the Lynx doesnt enter a space where it can get stuck, much like whiskers
What abeautiful, majestic creature! thank you for your work!
I think maybe the fur on their ears help them to sense the direction of the wind. ?
They really are! 😍
This sounds like a plausible idea, indeed!
My girlfriend said their ears might act like some type of sub-whisker that helps them sense low frequency or low vibration sounds. Maybe a range that their whiskers don't pick up but because they're on their ears, they do.
Brushed ears get signal of wind direction eventually combined with the smell sence to make more accurate guesses.
Wonderful and touching project. I really liked the lynx artwork which seemed made for the video specifically?!?! I may be missing something obvious, but I can't find any Wild Planet merch., much less the lynx art featured here... I can only imagine a hoodie with the lynx in a hoodie would do some big numbers and fund more wild projects. Take my money!
Thanks for your question and ideas. 💚 We don’t really have any merch at this point.
It’s interesting that this rewinding success story is very similar to the Iberian lynx that were nearly wiped out in Spain and now, several of them are in Portugal as well.
I’d say the brushed ears are for pinpointing the direction of sounds, similar to antennae
Traits like the ear tufts typically evolve in a population for one of three reasons, though most often a combination of them. 1: It is advantageous. 2: The ladies find it attractive. 3: It happened randomly and it wasn't a hindrance, so it stuck around.
Always amazing
Maybe those brushed ears are to percibe the wind
An interesting guess! Why do you think it would need to feel the wind with such a precision?
@@planet-wild maybe it can help them to predict the weather and know if it's gonna rain, and having a lot of precision on that could help them to know how the weather it's gonna change before they prey notice it, and that could allow the linx to predict the behaviour of their preys
@@ManuelCam Interesting!
❤❤❤❤❤
💚🐅💚
We have the technology to create better tracking devices for released animals.... at least smaller/less bulky collars. Hopefully, the devices will improve soon .
Our linx in South Africa is a bit more pinkish red, has the same colour spots only under the chest and the belly and is a bit more slender. I believe it is our most beautiful cat.
