It sucks but the more and more you experience it throughout the years you find ways to cope with it and you do in a way get used to it. It sucks don't get me wrong but I've made it through dopesickness many times. Year and half clean now.

Definitely the worst.
Take covid the flu and common cold and times it by 10.
Fever, diarrhea, restless legs and cramps for 1 week or more.
Then feeling exhausted for a time. And then cravings for months on end.
And that’s just opiate withdrawal from snorting / taking opiate pills.
I have to imagine that banging heroin would make the withdrawal 10 times worse.
I’m 9 years clean. Withdrawal sucks a fat one.
it could be due to the facts if someone is watching this and is an addict focusing on how awful and terrible the withdrawls are might not be the best way to encouarage someone to quit. all it would be doing it justiftying why they keep using and potentially scaring them in to thinking theyre never gonna get clean. when the reality is that yeah sure withdrawls suck but its not really anythign compared to where you end up if you keep fucking with the shit.

I was the only known “bout to be pro” bmx rider in my area. All my boys that were fuck ups hung around the skatepark in the middle of the ghetto of New Bedford Massachusetts. This is 2006-2010. I got hurt, started partying more, and I was addicted to perk 30s by 17 years old. Bmx became a far dream after that. Addiction took over my life, by 19, I couldn’t afford 40 30s a day, so I started shooting heroin right off the rip. No snorting nothing. After that. The needle was my addiction. I been clean since 25 years old I’m about to be 32 in June. Shout out to my addicts with real stories in the chat

I like this dude and can relate. I used to cop on the westside too & have basically the same stories/life experiences, minus gettin a strap pulled on me, thats never happened thank god. They call 290-east in Chicago the “heroin highway” cuz its the route all the suburb people get to the westside for their dope. I could listen to this guy anyday OVER flakko or neon pr one of those other weirdos. Hes level headed and seems smart/wise and like I said I can relate to almost everything he said. Good pod!

1 year and 21 days off fentanyl. I was out on the street overdosing all the time getting narcanned and ambulanced, dragged out of tents in the rain left for dead. I used to walk around the college neighborhoods at night on meth and burglarize them while the ppl inside them, i assumed, were passed out after partying. After ODing like 30 times this winter, i went back to rehab. Been battling opiate and meth addiction since 19, im now 30. It was a long journey downhill. I used to be smoking heroin off foil at my parents house, snorting meth and watching breaking bac, going to work.. years go by and im that guy out collecting cans to get enough fentanyl to last a couple hours. Homeless drug addict in the pacific northwest is cold and wet

I love this dudes explanation for how things unfold for some kids from mixed or upper class backgrounds and adam22’s anecdote with bmx shit, the real problem is some kids get started real early on the super wild shit so even with a positive influence like bmx, music, or art etc. They still find themselves down that road as adults well along due to obstacles or a priority/motive that overtakes their dedication to their craft.
This dude will 100% return to H if he keeps drinking, he's fooling himself if he doesn't think so I've seen it too many times. He didn't "beat" the addiction he just switched to things that are easier for him to coast on w/out the immediate consequences that heroin had

Also, gotta keep people away from that stuff too. At the end, those who stand by and watch are just as guilty. The burden falls completely on them as well. As a man, you see people on the street that might be on that; it's my duty to tell them to wake up. GOD rewards those who stick their neck out for people; rather than just view the show. I pray for that female everyday.

getting sober is like being a zombie brought back to life...the other side of it makes life so much more vibrant. No booze for 7 years n no 80s for 14 years...its a hell of a life n it took me almost losing it many times to get it back...addiction is no fun n its only by the grace of God that im alive. I lost my dad n sister, cousins, uncles, and friends to the fight n i refused to be a statistic. Failure is what's expected of you when you come from a certain environment...dont let it be you, I refused to let it make me. I quit everything in my 20s n have been clean since a few months b4 30.
