Thank you Liesel81! I was born in the old Fisheries building on Shark Island when it was still a hospital, my dad was born in Kolmanskop in the 1920s... I swear I still have Namib sand between my teeth. Though I live far away, this will always be where my soul belongs. I enjoyed seeing my home town through your eyes.
It's the audacity of colonisation for me,how people can just go and take over someone else's land for themselves by force. This place would have been even more beautiful before colonisation,l think..Thank you.
@@maritamaass905 there is violent history in Namibia. I choose not to speak about it and or focus on it because I know that not everyone that is alive today played an active part in it. And I hope that this generation will learn from the past but my being silent does not mean I do not acknowledge the past. Especially since I am German - Nigerian. I should be able to acknowledge the good the bad and the ugly of both countries www.nytimes.com/2021/05/28/world/europe/germany-namibia-genocide.html
@@suntangloryIt is a German settlement. Yes, colonialization of the area was bad, but before 1883 when Luderitz was founded there was nothing here except for some temporary shacks. Luderitz proper was only built up once the diamonds were discovered in 1907. At least half of Luderitz was built between 1907 and 1912 during the initial diamond rush. If the dismonds weren't discovered, Luderitz wouldn't have developed the way it did, would be more of a tiny village like Aus, barely noteworthy. It's likely that Luderitz would have ended like Kolmanskuppe. Heck, had that diamond rush and building boom never happened, I might not be typing this. Why? Cause the hospital I was born in was one of the buildings built in that building boom. Heck, this video wouldn't have been made if the area hadn't been colonized and experienced that diamond rush and building boom.

Thanks for the feedback. Sand in your teeth is a good expression, new on for me. I could have easily spent another two days in Lüderitz to see more.

You obviously have no idea about the history of Luderitz...
