How Serious Are You About DJing?

- Apologies for the thumbnail (my twisted sense of humor gets the best of me sometimes). A LOT of the responses in my original post used that word to describe why they DJ, which is cool, but it's becoming redundant & as vague as saying something like "I read the crowd". I think some of you can do better than that, so...
34 years & still spinning. It's never been about the money.
For me, it’s never been about the money or the attention, it’s been about people, purpose and most importantly, seeing everyone have a great time on the Dancefloor!
It's a hobby of mine, but it's always been about sharing music with people. If I can get that one person that says, "Dude that song is awesome! What song is that?!", or "Wow, I remember hearing that song as a kid. Thank you for reuniting me with it!"
I enjoy mixing and blending good music for people to have a good time to first. Everything else comes after.
Djaying is so much fun. Can’t stop won’t stop.

After trying to be a musician most of my life (although I still play in cover bands) I just wanted to do music in some way or form. I started DJing at 51. I grew up in the Bronx so hip hop was always there, I grew up around the culture but was drawn to rocking and rollin’. Now my wife and I have a DJ service and we primarily do weddings. I DJ just because I love music and moving people and continue to strive at getting better at both.
Thank you for your help Brian, your videos have been helpful to me I'm just a KJ and take that seriously (sound & selection) was cool watching the swisher sweets videos learned a lot of my lighting ideas here and how to just be chill you have a way of saying things that help. thanks
i''v always just been drawn to DJing, since i was very young. it is just automatic to me. its hard to turn that mindset off... even when i tried to stop DJing before, i ended up coming back stronger....I often think about stopping (usually on mondays), but then I remembe that i would have to make a living doing something a lot less fun than DJing so that usually cures me...
I love the craft, I want to get better in every aspect of djing for myself, it's my perfect hobby and my favourite job and I can see myself still doing it in 40 years, I actually wish I made more money off it but I know Its a slow build and I can't wait until I can support myself financially from it 😁

I DJ for money, I understand what crowds want to hear and how to quick mix through all bangers. The music is kinda terrible and certainly not what I like to listen to in my free time. All the DJ's in my area who "DJ for passion" play the wrong songs/genres and don't quick mix... they bore their crowds to death.
Turntablism is my passion and I do that for love.
I have a co-worker DJ who LOVES EDM. He will goes into long self serving EDM sets, all the bartenders complain and the crowds too. EDM is his passion but nobody wants to hear it. lol
DJing is LIFE

not very .I do it because i like it .For me it was mostly clubs now its online.Its never really been about money.
