One of the greatest late 70s -80s bands. Still great thru the 90s and today. Lynch was fantastic then and is even better and more dynamic now. What a mad solo, taht thing rips!!!! He plays from the heart.
After all is said and done, Lynch is a highly respected guitarist among his peers and fans. We all have had our "prime times" in life. Lynch's prime was his Dokken years and early Lynch Mob years. Let's always enjoy the musical gems he created. Keep on rockin' George!
LYNCH is the MASTER of ROCK.(PERIOD) He has more feel and soul in his playing than anyone EVER! Long LIVE LYNCH,MOB,SOULS and ROKKEN with DOKKEN 4 EVER!!!!!!!!!
Ihave studied music all my life, I have never him play with such knowledge, intensity, style and Intellegence. I really really think is the greatest of al time....even though I love Page and all the rest, he is the best.Scotty Buckley,Mississippi.
George just flat out shreds! Amazing solos and riffs on the mid 80's albums!! Tooth and Nail (1984), Under Lock and Key (1985),Back for the Attack (1987).
this is my favorite dokken song, that dueling guitar solo that lynch put in there is like none other i've ever heard. it just goes back and forth for like a minute and a half. Fucking Insane
George and Rudolph Schenker were 2 of my favorite axe men of the '80s !!! This music is soooo much better than the majority of shite being put out these days.
One more thing, I hope I can someday play 1/16th as well as George Lynch.....As for grunge, it never killed good metal, WE ARE ALL STILL LISTENING AND PLAYING:) God bless us one & all!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!
Dokken rhymes with Rockin'! George is still my hero after all these years. Pillson starred with Zakk Wylde on "Rockstar". Jeff went off to start Lynch Mob. Don tried a solo career. Hope they get back together.
I was trying to play the intro to this song, and my wrist and hand felt like they were gonna break in half lol. Insane stretch he does in the intro. Love Lynch, love Dokken, love this song.
Ya, right you are..Love the Scorps, man !! I dug up some really old Scorps recently.. Uli Roth period stuff... Great metal with a definite Sabbath feel to it !!
ONE OF THE BEST ORIGINAL LEAD SOLOS OF ALL TIME, NOT TO MENTION ALL OTHER ASPECTS TO THIS SONG AND LYRIC... GREAT VOCALS, PERCUSSION, ALL OF IT FUCKIN' ROCKS...
Lynch was great. Unlike 90% of the shredders out there, to include most who are better players or technicians than he, George had a great mix of style, substance, and shred ability. He had his own sound and could actually write cool songs instead of just throwing together a couple flashy riffs and hammer-ons. Definitely one of the better glam guitarists for sure. Right up there with Rhoads and Warren DiMartini, IMO.
Lynch is far and above so many other guitarist and on many different levels. Pilson is mega talented and blows most other bassist away and for many reasons, reasons that most have not a clue about. This entire line up for Dokken was magical. It is unfortunate they didn't prevail. Check out Lynch/Pilson "Wicked Underground" if you have yet. Post Dokken album. AWESOME!
I remember seeing Dokken open up for Aerosmith on the Permanent Vacation tour in Dallas... I was actually more stoked about seeing Dokken. Dokken was awsome but I have to admit that after seeing Aerosmith live I had a new respect for them. They put on a damn good show (at least they did back then)!
Hah, George is the whole package and very versatile. He fills as much space with rhythms that never get boring, and leads that will make you shiver for excitement. There's always something going on and in live George is just amazing, not to forget his distinctive tone. It's the Shrapnel Shredders who I call fast noise and no melody. George has more style and appeal than all of them combined!
i personally think george played one of the most solos ive ever heard on this. no effects to mask any fuckups, anything like that, just unadulterated overdriven guitar with rums and a walking bass line. and he fucking plays his ass off.
I was waiting on him to whip out a hack saw and cut that damn neck in half!....my ears are still ringing from standing next to George's amp in Charlotte last month...rock on!
When the Scorpions were just starting to get big, Don Dokken helped train Klaus Mein to sing in proper English. Before, Klaus would sing in literal German/English interpretation (for example; I am in love with you versus, I'm in love with you). Oh yeah, George is pretty good too. He tried out for Ozzie but didn't make it because he couldn't read music at the time. It just goes to show what hard work along with talent can do. Rock on George
I'm tired of people who trash about Lynch's guitar playing. He was, and to this day is one of the must solid guitar players, the people who talks BS about him must certainly have done nothing and wont do shit that gets even close to whatever he accomplished, great guitar solos, great riffs. By the way... nice to remember the great voice Don once had, even though the sound quality of this video sucks, you can tell the guy can sing.
Yeah, I would have to concede that the recording quality impacts my opinion of this solo. He was my guitar "idol" as an influential teenager of 17-18 years old. I was just amazed at what he did. His tone is incredible. I really liked some of his solo stuff, some I didn't care for not because of his playing, but because the song lyrics were stupid. He's still the guy in my book. I would love to see him on a G3.
Rudolph Schenker is the legendary guitarist for the Scorpions... His little brother Michael ( played in the Scorps in the early days then in UFO, then formed MSG)is damn good as well.
God Bless George Lynch......He ROCKS that bad*** M1 tiger. I hope to own this guitar one day...Lynch is my Role model:) I am 28, I grew up with Dokken, that's all me & my bro. listened too. Ok, maybe Cobain makes more money, who freakin' cares??? I thought it was all about the music and not the money??? RIGHT???
Goatmeat! Great name, one of the best I've seen - I know what you're sayin, but think we should be mindful that George's recorded stuff w/Dokken had the guitars multitracked,so live,he was twisting in the wind somewhat. Joe has a second guitar player with him on stage. I saw Dokken on this tour in Portland Maine, and they fuckin KILLED! Check a couple of these other Philly clips, you might change yer mind. Just Got Lucky is really good. cheers and Metal Forever! =bloozblaster=
George Lynch is one of the most amazing guitar players ever. The deal with Lynch being a jerk is simply that he doesn't like the BS trappings of the rockstar image that Don Dokken was craving.
They're great, even in bad quality. I'm so getting this album, which i have to buy on the net because i really can't find this kind of great music in my local musicstore :(
now that i've finally gotten around to listening to these guys, not only do i feel stupid for not doing so sooner, but i can totally see how Paul Gilbert was influenced by George Lynch
Well the talent is there as far as i can see, Don Dokken is a more than capable singer, George lynch is a genius guitar player, I really cannot see the lack of talent, it depends on you're musical taste if you don't like Dokken's style than thats fine.
@IbanezRGGuitarist I totally understand your opinion but as a guitar player myself, I like to hear the solos that I have worked so hard to learn, be played the way they were played on the album, now! if you wanna add to them, go ahead I'll be happy to hear more. Some solos are so great that they become a song within the song. That's why I love Zakk Wylde, he never takes away from solos but he adds, and then it's awsome!!
thanks for the info i'll check it out. George kicks ass on this song. a trivial info: george at one point could'nt play guitar for months cause he broke his finger riding his son's motorcycle. He should stick to the guitar.
One of the greatest late 70s -80s bands. Still great thru the 90s and today. Lynch was fantastic then and is even better and more dynamic now. What a mad solo, taht thing rips!!!! He plays from the heart.

This song kicks ass. Wish there was some HD of it!
george is one of the most underrated guitarist of all the times.....x(
Ihave studied music all my life, I have never him play with such knowledge, intensity, style and Intellegence. I really really think is the greatest of al time....even though I love Page and all the rest, he is the best.Scotty Buckley,Mississippi.

Hearing the comments below at 42 years old makes me very, very happy. Keep those minds open guys, there's a ton of great music out there.
I love this just wish it was clearer so I could see George better! He is beyond amazing! One of the best solos he's done AWESOME!
Thank you! That clip is awesome!
George has got such a signature feel when he phrases, very nice!
this is my favorite dokken song, that dueling guitar solo that lynch put in there is like none other i've ever heard.
it just goes back and forth for like a minute and a half. Fucking Insane

Dokken rhymes with Rockin'! George is still my hero
after all these years. Pillson starred with Zakk Wylde on "Rockstar". Jeff went off to start Lynch Mob.
Don tried a solo career. Hope they get back together.

George Lynch never fails to surprise me.

DOKKEN is my favoriet 80's band and George Lynch is GOD!!!
i love the 80's, to bad i missed out on it
The album is Under Lock and Key...1985. Written by Don Dokken.
The Best Dokken song, form their best album, from their best time, Lightning strikes agaiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!
GNR WAS a great band, 87-93, they were the biggest band in the world at that time.
i personally think george played one of the most solos ive ever heard on this. no effects to mask any fuckups, anything like that, just unadulterated overdriven guitar with rums and a walking bass line. and he fucking plays his ass off.
AMAZING !! George Lynch "the goldfinger"
Damn the solo is a fuckin masterpiece...
Long Live Dokken & Glam!!!!!

Lynch is a fucking genius for fuck sake, one of the most creative guitarists of our time.
I was waiting on him to whip out a hack saw and cut that damn neck in half!....my ears are still ringing from standing next to George's amp in Charlotte last month...rock on!

George has some real smoking solos. He is the best in my humble opion
awesome why are they not remembered with all the other 80s metal bands they rule
I'm tired of people who trash about Lynch's guitar playing. He was, and to this day is one of the must solid guitar players, the people who talks BS about him must certainly have done nothing and wont do shit that gets even close to whatever he accomplished, great guitar solos, great riffs. Went to this concert in Kansas City. They opened for Aerosmith.

Mr.Lynch really rules!!!!
Great Band. :)
George Lynch is one of the most amazing guitar players ever. The deal with Lynch being a jerk is simply that he doesn't like the BS trappings of the rockstar image that Don Dokken was craving.
@Eddiecochran21 Yes he does!! Those blazing fast fingers and his unique picking style were blessed by the guitar gods.
These guys know how to rock you!

without a doubt the best guitarist to come along since randy rhoads.
Well the talent is there as far as i can see, Don Dokken is a more than capable singer, George lynch is a genius guitar player, I really cannot see the lack of talent, it depends on you're musical taste if you don't like Dokken's style than thats fine.

Thats all I can say!
@gallantentry
So true!! Lynch just dominates this song live!! Just brilliant!!
It's all good man!
Jeff Pilsons backing vocals are friggin killer
Don was the perfect singer geroge was the perfect guitarist and what you get is the perfect band that is DOKKEN.
that's right! anyway he always change, that makes him kind unique... he never sounds the same
Man, look at the hair on George..did he use hairspray? love the zebra guitar!
I'am 14 and my dad got me into this and i thank him lol
I'm a huge Warren Demartini fan, but I am also huge George Lynch fan! Those comments were ridiculus
I say all 80's guitarists, they are just great, reb beach, Brad Gillis, Dave Murray, CC Deville...
this song sounds like Rainbow In The Dark By Dio! i love dokken, i am going to see them next month
HELL YEAH!!! George Lynch is one of the best ever, but lets be honest they looked ridiculous.
thanks for the info i'll check it out. George kicks ass on this song. a trivial info: george at one point could'nt play guitar for months cause he broke his finger riding his son's motorcycle. He should stick to the guitar.
Lynch is God. Dokken rocks and so do the clothes.
@619schitzo fuck yeah man. DOKKEN KICKS ASS! KEEP ON ROCK'N WITH DOKKEN!!!
@Thirdgen83 wow did you come up with that yourself? that's some serious wit right there.
Man strove against the gods that night.
i use a 1983 aria pro to get an 80's sound, he used to use aria in the beginning
