Wow! Thank You for posting this song! I am SOOO PLEASED to have stumbled to this song. I was like 10 years old and I was singing this song at my church with my sisters. LOL! We wanted to be the next Clark Sisters II. Ahhh, I am Jamming to this!!!
I was thinking the same thing. I have been listening to all of TCS for years and I am pretty sure of their voices and they all have different quirks to them.
@imhappywithmyself I do too thats my hope because I got into them as four but then i saw the 5 and I just got use to it and I love the as 5 the harmony was strong and it just seemed right I miss denise
If you say so...sounds like Dorinda to me. The reason I say that is because of the voice sounds like the voice on the Christmas album singing "Seeking for me"........
I couldn't change my last post... but I think that record was called "Count It All Joy" but the biggest song on there was "A Praying Spirit." (I always thought it was Dorinda leading that song. But back then, it was sometimes hard to tell them apart. LOL)
@imhappywithmyself EXCATELY LOL but some people sleep on Denise because she no longer apart of the group she's a CLARK SISTER so of course she's bad aswell then she a SOPRANO TOO mmmm the world wasn't ready lol
@Murice11- Hey Karen was born in 1960. This dropped in 77-78. She was aa little older. "The Will Of God" came out around the same time. But I know your point was that she been bad a looooong time!
I guess I can reluctantly accept this...I just can't get away from the fact that I think this is Dorinda...I mean the shortness of breath and all, and the raspiness of voice. Your right, you can always hear Dr. Clark on Dorinda, but this is baby Dorinda so they voice is more childlike or teen-like. Karen's voice is higher, of course we all could be wrong and this could be Twinkie!!! But I loved your description your very convincing and gave a wonderful argument...you did a wonderful synthesis!!
I just noticed the big debate about who is leading this song. This is Karen, who has a piercing to her voice. It's a bit too high for Dorinda. You can compare the two voices at the 3:01 mark when Dorinda starts ad-libbing in the background. Twinkie always tried to evenly distribute the leads on the albums. Dorinda is leading Patience, and No Other Name I Know from this same album.
I believe it is Karen Dr. because she also has a little raspiness to her voice and especially when she was younger she sang alot of the alto parts and Denise had the top and if u look at the videos from their concert when they were in the green dresses you can see that Karen was singing alto and Dorinda, yes Dorinda was singing top and at times they switched...but thanx for your exegesis!
This is Karen. I've been listening to my Sisters for years. You can hear the youth in Karen's voice. Though they both have amazing control, you can hear Karen's youth, and Dorinda wouldn't run like this in a song. She couldn't hit that note on command the way Karen does in this song either.
Yes it is. I was making alot of videos that day and accidentally put Dorinda's picture up there instead of Karen's. LOL I was rushing and made a mistake. LOL
Yes..... I just put the wrong pictures on this video. Those pics are suppose to be of Karen NOT Dorinda. At the begining it also says lead by Karen Clark Sheard!!! I hope that clears it up. LOL
That's Dorinda you can hear the raspy ness, Karen sings higher. However, I invite you to listen to old school Dorinda she sounds like Karen does now, from growls melisma's, riffs, runs, and range!
@@javajazz6686 that’s Karen….. dorinda is obviously doing adlibs in the background if u can hear. Karen’s voice back in the day was very heavy and dorinda voice was light like how it is now without the husk and the rasp. She didn’t start gettin rasp till the 90s
Yes it does sound like Dorinda Clark Cole. I think she is the one who sings this. In fact, Dorinda is the one who sings this song...the voice is rougher than Karen's was at the time!
💕
I listened to it again and These my girls until the END, man!!!

@@reggiemitchell5198 That last one was definitely Twinkie.
@@drtslim no it was Denise. She was the one who was doing it with Karen
@@reggiemitchell5198 denise and karen was second but you can tell by the final “know” that was twinkie with the last note

I could hear Aunty Jacky on the background vocals.

Isaiah Thomas Dorinda can hit those notes and has been able to hit those. Go listen to Determination (which she leads) and God Is Still In Control
