You guys ain't giving Tyson Gay any love. The AR Holder 9.69. I don't even see the argument here. Starting from his amazing college career as an overall sprinter.
Tyson Gay ran a 9.71 which set an American record to get silver 🥈 behind bolt. Do you have any idea how absurd that is lol? He literally would've won any other championship race in history against any American with that time. Let's be real. Bolt wasn't human. Tyson is a 100m world champion as well. He suffered many injuries at the worst times during peak condition. He has many 9.80s, several 9.7s I know this is 100m ranking only, but his 19.41 straight 200m is absolutely insane AR btw. 14.41 150m AR tied with Noah Lyles. Bottom line is Tyson Gay is the fastest American Ever! That's just a Fact! So how is he Not a Top 5 American 100m Sprinter??????? He's literally tied for 2nd as the FASTEST HUMAN EVER! (Yohan Blake)
In conclusion, He Gay is #1 because no other American has ran faster than his Top 2 times. 9.69 & 9.71 Period!

He also ran 9.80 that got him 4th. That time would've got him top 2 in any other olympic games other than 2012 and 2024. He's very overlooked. People just look at a medal standpoint and overlook the sprinters' performances and where they put themselves in history.

I lived through the Carl Lewis era to Present. Carl would get the top spot here. One of the things that is missed, the World Championships was held every for years from 1983 to 1991. There is a good chance had the Worlds been held every two years since it’s inception, Carl would have more 100m gold. Certainly, 1985 he was ranked the top 100m sprinter in the world.
In 1989, considering Ben Johnson was serving his two ban, Leroy Burrell was on the come up, there was Linford Christie, Calvin Smith, Dennis Mitchell, Ray Stewart and Robson Disilva, all who was in the 1988 Olympics Finals and outside of Smith 4 of the 5 was in the 100m World Finals in Tokyo 1991, there was a good chance that Carl could have either four or five 100m World Titles.

Love how you had to remind people this was before the Olympics 😂😂
For Noah the minimum requirements to surpass Gatlin in the 100m he'd need to:
Win 2 more world gold medals
Win no less than silver in his next Olympics
As for Lewis who I also believe is US number one. Noah would basica- No. He'd literally have to replicate Usain Bolt's accomplishments.
    Carl 100m golds at Worlds = 3
    Bolt 100m golds at Worlds = 3
    Carl 100m Golds at Olys = 2
    Bolt 100m Golds at Olys = 3
The only thing Noah doesn't need is that 4th World medal at the 100m, which Bolt has the record for in the Mens equal with Gatlin. So I think this would be enough for Noah. He ran run 9.73 or faster to add the cherry on top to just outright surpass all the greats time wise.
Just remember this is for US all time in the 100m.

  • @ChessMasterNate
    @ChessMasterNate 4 дні тому

Jessy Owens, Jim Heinz, Carl Lewis, and Maurice Green. I don't know who to pick as 5. Lyles is certainly fast. Does he have staying power? His cocky attitude does not endear him to me. That Olympic win he had very little space out ahead. That does not say "greatness" to me. 6 feet clear of the rest does. If he does that, he is great.
I remember watching the 1984 Olympics. It was the first games I got to see on TV. 1980 was boycotted, plus we had no TV in 1980. I did not see the 1984 Olympics at home. I was on vacation. There was a TV set up in the lobby and there must have been about 50 people watching and cheering on the Americans. It was great. I remember seeing a couple of events of the 1976 Winter Olympics before that at my grandparent house. That is when I first realized the Olympics was a big deal. I was 7. I normally did not watch sports when I was that age, except auto racing. I don't really care about auto racing anymore. My grandmother made me promise to never auto race. She was very insistent. She was rarely like that, and loved her, so I agreed. Up to that point I wanted to be an inventor, an architect, an astronaut and a racecar driver. I found out many years later that she had first cousins, where two of the boys died racing, and the parents later died in an auto accident as well. This would have been in the 19 teens or something. In one race, the wheel got stuck in a gap in the concrete and flipped the backend of the car right over crushing him. There was no roof on the car. The second one caught a nut through the goggles that was launched by the car ahead of him. Suddenly it made sense that she never learned to drive. I think I would have been good, too. My reaction time is very fast, and I have a very long attention span.
