    I like how they showed that the spread wasn't immediate like it seemed to be in TWD. It begans in Paris, but there's still enough time to get out of town and outside is still barely normal for a few hours, but you know any second it will reach there. And it first it will just be the occasional scream, police driving by, then a few more hours will go by, more screams, more police.
    In the subway, you see some people are just unaware, still waiting for the train. Sitting, as if it's just another normal day.
    And then it shows the people, and the camera work in the show makes people feel more human, you realize normal people may be spending the rest of their "lives" as a zombie.
    Then the scene of at the gas station, still basically the last little bit of civilization still somewhat normal and functioning.
    Then the scene with the ambulance, and what I really like is the car you see driving around in the roundabout in the background, with even the traffic light still active.
    This show shows a much more realistic view, how the infection will creep in places but some people will still be driving around, trying to do stuff. Gradual and then all of a sudden. Plus the cinematography, screen writing, actors make it feel way more grounded and real. TWD made everything feel very dramatized, like a soap opera, just stuff normal people wouldn't do. Even the intense situation with that boss lady and the dude who's brother was killed doesn't feel like they are overly evil for no reason.

    • @Unknown-ek1ox
      @Unknown-ek1ox 10 місяців тому +25

      I get you.
      The only quirk I have is how suddenly it happens at either ground zero place (I recall the lore was a bit conflicting? First it's like the US and from there it went global, then it's implied it originated in France, etc).
      Although it is a bit comedic still at how fast this happens and how unaware people are. I think even in 2010 such stuff would've spread like relative wildfire - and I don't mean the virus spread but the news warning about this. Plus you'd think people would perhaps better ID zombies but I heard people always said supposedly zombie movies or fiction didn't really exist then in that fictional world?
      Either way though I imagine society could've maybe held out longer a bit or initially?
      Just my random thoughts on this, if it were to sorta happen in reality. Well in this day and age with even more connectivity via social media, hard to tell how much would be actual damage by virus and gov response and what would be damaging panic in society. Problem I guess is that anyone who dies becomes an enemy if not sufficiently incapacitate or immobile. That is ultimately what the wildfire factor is.
      Once logistical chain, critical infrastructure and ultimately order breaks down it's basically a nationwide goner, with perhaps only local areas or regions offering stability.
      The bad part is for that chaos you wouldn't even need zombies. Imagine your power grid is down and not just locally but across a large area, too large to handle for any near responders and repair teams. People would be at each others throats after a few days at the latest I reckon, if not earlier. Most households don't even retain a minimum safety stock of non-perishables and other stuff to let them survive without power (and maybe water) for a few days at least.
      Heh, maybe there is one note to take from my rambling: A bit of healthy prepping can help you even in real life if worst comes to worst.

    • @GoldenTV3
      @GoldenTV3 10 місяців тому +19

      @@Unknown-ek1ox Yeah, the most realistic portrayal of what a Zombie apocalypse would be like, would probably be World War Z. And I mean the book, not the movie.
      I think it was realistic with the spread, most people are just genuinely clueless, and if they do hear something, most of the time they don't believe it or brush it off.
      Them making the idea of zombies not a thing in that world kind of cements that, to them it was just people being crazy.
      TWD kind of backed themselves into a corner, making it so everyone is infected and if you die you turn, basically making a society ever forming again impossible.

    • @Unknown-ek1ox
      @Unknown-ek1ox 10 місяців тому +15

      @@GoldenTV3 I kinda find Project Zomboid's zombie lore more scarier and lethal ultimately.
      If you don't know it, it's a game, can look up the lore easily I think.
      If you feel like reading this all, here is my own recap of it:
      Basically it plays in 1993 rural Kentucky and has a virus escape, hinted as escaping from a military lab due to how fast the military responded. They cordon off a huge area South-West-ish of Louisville. Right before and as that "exclusion zone" is set up and reinforced, people in there get sick with flu-like symptoms, perish and rise as zombies.
      The problem: It's airborne transmission, too. Some are immune to the airborne virus but if you get bit you still get infected and turn.
      Long story short there is a media blackout on the zone for a few days as zombies there increase. Politically there is protest about the lack of news coming from there and protesters and refugees live in a border camp. A protest heats up, the noise and guns attract a huge horde from within the zone. The military itself didn't do a good cleanup job in the zone itself. They can't stem the thousands of zombies there and they break through causing a huge exodus towards Louisville, spreading the infection outside the zone. Shortly, days after, the infection pops up globally, as the theory goes that someone from the first days or their dog got infected and left before the cordon stopped them and spread it further. People who never had direct contact with infected began to get sick.
      The most horrible thing about this all as player is you are stuck in the zone and hear the events unfold over various ingame TV news channels and radio channels from actual news channels to talkshow hosts.
      If you use Twitter you can also check out this account, they posted like the daily updates on the days they unfolded from a lore perspective. Just begin by scrolling down all the way to the first post and then scroll up for some zombie immersion:

      A society could form again, with more strict rules.
      There's essentially two ways society could rise in the large scale :
      1) Return of decentralized small communities. Towns with no more than perhaps 1000 inhabitants living in a connected network, with strict rules about how to handle death and corpses.
      2) A large scale society where every facet of life takes undeath into account : people's sleep in secure apartment blocks, in secure habitation wings, in secured apartments, in secured bedroom. The government mandates that every single doors must be closed in such a way as to avoid a large scale contamination : if someone dies in their bedroom, they will not be able to kill others members of the household unless they forgot to lock their bedroom doors. Even if hypothetically everyone in the apartment forgot to properly lock doors, they would not be able to enter other apartments and security services could be called in time.
      Life would be somewhat grim, with apartment blocks essentially turned into grim concrete blocks with iron bars on the windows and strongly locked doors at every junctions; and this would require quite the logistics to put into motion, but in theory it could be possible.
      Of course most importantly peoples would have to be constantly reminded about the danger of fresh corpses and the necessity of destroying the brain stem immediately after the death of an individual.

      @Unknown-ek1ox Absolutely, the first choice that's often senselessly discarded by most "preppers" (posers with no strategic mind or real experience, as opposed of real preppers) is GO BACK HOME and STAY THERE.
      Obviously you have to assess the nature of the threat first, if it's a natural disaster or a localized danger, then getting away is logical. But if it's generalized and/or you lack information, the worst place to be is the street.
      Why would you ever "bug out", leaving the safety of your home and a familiar area that you can easily navigate, to wander into the crazy crowd to a destiny that you don't even know for sure if it's safe?
      A home is more than a place to sleep. It's supposed to be YOUR place, your own personal country, the little piece of world where you have the advantage. But that's only if you make it so.
      Lastly, I think people often overlook how crucial safe water is, or how quickly you'll use it. They often think first of stockpiling food and than some bottles of water as an afterthought, or say they'll "collect rainwater". Remember, you can only survive 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. The priority is clear.

    *THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL* with the subway car is phenomenal. It's easy to miss, but you can see in the last couple of subway cars that some people have separated themselves, or were already in those subway cars, and some are on their phones calling someone, looking up and away from their reading material, or trying to get out through the doors, as they are slowly figuring out what is happening on the rest of the subway train. They wake up (24 hours into societal collapse), decide they’re going to have a no technology day, do some calisthenics, brew some tea, and assume a bulb went out. No. Even if things got super dire countering zombies in TWD is very trivial and generally people don't just take being eaten very well. They aren't just gonna collapse and completely give up like what happens here. You also don't see many people just killing zombies for fun in TWD. That would literally be peoples past time from that point on, some people would take it to a comically serious level. You can see how effective Ricks groups is at kiting and killing walkers in the prison scenes. Imagine what a actual trained military squad could do armed to high hell.

By the time military forces can deduce they aren’t humans anymore and are given the green light to utilize lethal force entire cities would already be swarming with thousands upon thousands of infected. All the commotion and chaos would be insane, just imagine how many deaths would be caused via vehicle crashes only for them to reanimate and join the swarm minutes later.

Even just a couple walkers would cause extreme histeria, and seeing how zombie fiction and media simply do not exist in this universe, no one knows how to deal with them, for example the guy that tried to fight the walker like a human and got bitten on the arm. Theres also the matter of people reanimating almost immediately after death, meaning things like heart attacks, accidents like car crashes or falling down stairs and breaking your neck would mean more walkers that nobody understood. It would lead to all out chaos, meaning more deaths, and more walkers.

      Even if the zombies aren’t “terrifying” enough to collapse society (since they’re slow and such) the mere panic of people would alone lead to the downfall. People would for sure refuse to go to work or go shopping, etc because of the fear of running into zombies or be attacked by both the living and the dead. If no one is working or participating in commerce or stimulating the economy in some type of way, the economy would crash. The downfall of the dollar (or in this case, the Euro) is enough to collapse society - social services would end, goods will be more scarce, and slowly local, state, and federal governments would go. Then, Boom, we’re at the start of the first twd show.

      @marcelrodriguez2067 It was airborne so if someone died they'd come back as one, which if a lot of people died in the same time area across the world then that would be a problem, still the US would have handled it differently even if we didn't know anything about them, we would quickly figure out that a shot to the head puts them down and we would have advised people to stay indoors and to dispose of anybody who has a bite or scratch wound that seems fresh, the US is smarter than depicted in the series, but yeah, most of the zombies in America were slow, but herds were basically just giant meat sacks that were hard to overcome lol, like that scene in FTWD when Daniel leads a herd, or horde, of zombies to that military base which quickly overruns it, so yeah they slow, but in hordes they deadly, pick them off one by one and you'll be fine 🤣

    It *really* frustrates me how AMC finally decided to increase the budget for these shows once the viewership declined. Really shows their greed. The main show could've really been great if the pacing wasn't so dragged out for the sake of milking the show for as long as possible. The only reason the budget has been increased is in attempt to bring back some of the old viewers. AMC never truely cared about the quality of this show, only making money off of it. What a waste.

    There is something so horrific about this because it actually feels incredibly real as far as that is how it would probably start, for those saying a zombie outbreak like this couldn’t really happen because of how slow they are underestimates how human beings behave when they are in a state of panic. Thinking logically is something only a few people will be capable of and have a chance of surviving. Like in this scene the first places to get the first wave would most certainly be cities with densely populated areas. The lucky ones already live in the middle of nowhere among areas of countryside, which is why Hershel’s family managed to last for a while.

    I always imagine a takes episode that follows that day from the perspective of a staffer or intern or someone working in the White House over that day and a few days leading up to it.
    It could first show the White House receiving early reports, and they get more and more hectic as it goes in, eventually getting to the stage where the president has to make the call of bombing his own cities. Maybe the president does in the episode and the vice president is sworn in, and the literally first thing he has to do is decide to bomb his own country.
    That would make a wicked Tales episode. They should have some stuff like that instead of the literally appalling shit that they gave us in that first season.
    Random ghost stories, and that horrid Groundhog Day thing that literally does not fit in any way into the canon of the walking dead universe.
    There’s so much potential for loads of interesting stories based on singular random characters from anywhere in the World experiencing that initial outbreak and the fall of society. They could show places in literally any country that would be interesting also.
