In this short video, Johannes from Victron Energy answers a couple of questions that we collected from different platforms (Victron Community, email, social media, etc).
Q1: If I have a load output on my MPPT charger, will that be active all night?
Q2: Which cable do you recommend for wiring between the battery and the MultiPlus in a campervan?
Q3: Why doesn’t Victron make a MultiPlus range the 500VA to 1600VA in 120V for the US market?
Q4: How long does it take for the EasySolar to switch from battery in case of an electric network failure?
Q5: The older Blue Power Charge Controllers, the 150/85, can you also plug in a VE.Bus Dongle in it to monitor via Bluetooth?
Q6: How many Smart Lithium batteries can you connect in series or parallel?
For technical questions see our support page: www.victronenergy.com/support or contact your Victron dealer, distributor or installer.

Love these videos and am excited about installing some new Victron components I’ve ordered. Working on system connections, settings, and commissioning steps while I wait for them to arrive. Information is scattered but it’s starting to come together. It would be impossible to provide details for all scenarios but the manuals have the information needed to get it done. I’m expecting a mostly trouble free start up and know it will meet all my needs in this application for a long time to come.

Thank you for a very educational video. I have Victron Cerbo GX and MultiPlus 12/3000/120V-50 and Victron Smart 500 amp Shunt. Part of the circuit draws from 12dc after the shunt but the Cerbo GX Touch 50 doesn't show how much 12V DC power is being drawn. 2nd Question: which RJ45 input to the Cerbo GX do I use to connect to Raymarine MFD. Thanks so much!

For MFD the LAN connection is used, so when combined or on the same router this should work. The Smart shunt shown power in/out the battery. If you want to see beside this a current to a certain DC distribution you can add a secondary Smart shunt and have that set ups as energy meter

    Hi Johannes,
    Another question regarding my EasySolar-II-GX-24/3000/70 (with a LiFePO4 Smart 25,6V 200Ah and a VE.Bus BMS V2)
Some time ago the EasySolar lost its internet connection. Therefore I also couldn't try to verify the network settings from VRM->Remote Console.
And in VEConfigure I couldn't see that information either, so I had to power-cycle the EasySolar to make it work again.
Because of this I have been looking at the various Victron control panels that exist.
The "color control" seems to be a possibility, but my dealer says the EasySolar is not compatible with that (although I doubt that).
On the Victron site I see the "color control" will be replaced by the "Ekrano GX", but that is a too extensive (and too expensive) solution for me.
What about the cheaper "GX Touch 50" or "CANvu GX"?
In the end I just would like to have a "backup" control option, that connects directly to the EasySolar (when no internet available) and has access to all essential configurations.
What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Would you consider developping a SmartSolar MPPT RS which can connect directly to Solaredge optimizers? (so we can remove the Solaredge inverter and still use the optimizers for shadow based locations)

    • @victrontech
      @victrontech Рік тому +1

Well the modern panels have nowadays all bypass diodes to eliminate the shading effect so the is no real need for the optimizers. So having the panel directly ion the MPPT would be technically the best as then losses are minimal. In short, no there will be no special version which can handle optimizers as that would make them less efficient.

Hi! I so appreciated your explanation in Eposide 6 of how the Victron inverters can sync with the line voltage for simultaneous charger and inverter operation. My question: I'm operating two Multiplus 3K inverters in 230 V split phase. I can't find instructions for connecting a 230V split phase generator or grid to this inverter configuration for battery charging and inverter operation. Am I safe to connect the 230V split phase input in the same fashion as I connect the split phase output, namely H1 to one Multiplus, H2 to the other Multiplus and Common joined between the two? If I do this, will I need to make some setting changes in the Multiplus configuration?

    • @johannesboonstra6917
      @johannesboonstra6917 Рік тому

when having two units in split phase the INPUT has a N is common and the one is L1 and the other therefore L2 , and the OUTPUT has the same . So on the INPU is where the genset needs to be connected

    A question.
There is an article "Parallel, split- and three phase VE.Bus systems" which states that using 15kVA Quattros, the maximum system size is a 180kVA three-phase system. Which then consists of 4 units in each of the three phases: 12 units in total. Is there any possibility to make a bigger system? What happens when you connect 6 Quattros on phase: 18 unit total? If this is impossible, does Victron plan to provide the ability to build larger systems in the future for C&I market?

I need to connect a phoenix 24/5000 inverter.
Between Inverter and Distributer is 1,2m
The manual said the recommended cable is 2x 95mm² with an 400A Fuse.
If it´s possible to connect two cables an one of the four terminal with a 400A fuse or i have to split it to two terminals with two 200A fuses?
Another option is to connect a Fuse holder at the end of the distributor busbar and connected seperately.
    Best regards Robert

    Hello Johannes,
    I have setup a EasySolar-II-GX-24/3000/70 with a LiFePO4 Smart 25,6V 200Ah and a VE.Bus BMS V2
As I needed some 24V energy I connected that directly to the battery and not on the 230V output of the EasySolar to avoid the need of an extra 230V/24V power supply.
Will the EasySolar still be capable of managing the Battery correctly (as it has a VE-Bus to communicate with the battery) or will it get confused that some power is used from the battery that doesn't flow through the EasySolar?

Hi Johannes, I have a system consisting of a Multiplus 5000, a smart shunt, a CCGX, 3 smart MPPTs with their nominal panel arrays totalling approx 3kW nominal charging a 24V /1000Ah lead acid battery . My battery reaches absorption usually by mid morning and at that point I want to connect my electric car charge circuit to harvest the max from my panels.
My question, what is the best way to get the absorption signal from this system? Clearly I can use a standalone voltage sense circuit but i would far rather use an output from the system.

if you want to charge when the battery is "full", I would recommend that the doc of the battery is used to trigger a relay for the charger. lets say start at 9998% and stop at 85% , that way you are almost certain the majority of power comes from PV

Question About the Multiplus/Phoenix: We all like a good cup of coffee in our RV/Boat, but most coffee machine draw a lot of current. For same units a modification is possible by using a diode for the boiler/heating element. For instance my Nesspresso in 1350 watt, but with the diode only 700 watt. Can I use this with a 800VA unit? Of course the AC current is still a around 6A in one direction for a short period of time while heating up.

I consider an additional Phoenix as an additional power source to the existing multiplus only for the time the coffee machine is running without shore power. Both will operatate together. Hello Johannes,
    I have an EasySolar-II-GX-24/3000/70 with a LiFePO4 Smart 25,6V 200Ah and a VE.Bus BMS V2
I have some questions regarding connecting, as the manuals refer to EasyPlus equipment or just GX equipment, but not specifically to the EasySolar where everything is combined.
    1) As the EasySolor-II-GX is already a GX equipment, I assume I don't need to use the "VE Bus Mains detector", correct?
    2) So, then I can connect the "MultiPlus/Quattro" RJ45 on the VE.Bus BMS V2 directly to the EasySolar? If so, I connect it to VE-Bus connector inside the EasySolar, correct? And do I have to use one of the terminator plugs on the other VE-Bus connector inside the EasySolar?

How are you Johannes I have a question about the link BMS. I’ve bought the link BMS, but I decided to make my own batteries. Am I not able to use the BMS in this kind of system? I know you don’t recommend this schematic. But it is possible for me to use some of the features in the link BMS with my own batteries. The batteries built-in BMS has Canbus is that in anyway helpful.

I haven't had any luck in the Victron community forum or the Facebook groups so I'd appreciate if you could address either or both of the following questions about the Skylla-TG charger 24 V universal input:
    - The Skylla-TG charger 24v universal input unit has a starter battery charging feature, does it use power from the DC side or do I have to be plugged in to AC shore power?
    - I've seen people recommend using an EMS to protect a Multiplus/Quattro from bad shore power, since universal input EMS don't seem to exist, how would you protect the Skylla-TG charger 24v universal input?

    • @victrontech
      @victrontech Рік тому +1

Q1 this extra power for the starter output is redirected from the main battery, So when there is enough (voltage) to also feed the starter output it will do so.

    Hello
In my photovoltaic system, I would like to feed from the batteries into the 220V house network, e.g. via an inverter. (night feed/ permanent feed)
Does Victron offer a way to do this? The VE Smart Battery Protect would be ideal for switching the inverter, but according to the manual it cannot be connected to inverters.
Do you perhaps have another technical solution?

Hi Johannes! I'm part of a community that is moving toward energy independence. We recently were made aware of health concerns of "dirty electricity". I purchased a Greenwave microsurge meter that tests dirty electricity noise on the 110 VAC line. I've noticed the dirty electricity is quite high coming out of my 2 Multiplus inverters that run through the Autotransformer to produce the split phase 220 VAC. Do you have any thoughts or user data about mitigating the high microsurge "dirty electricity" from these inverters?
