三島喜美代インタビュー「ごみと美術のあいだ 1」 MEM | Between Garbage and Art: An Interview with Kimiyo Mishima, Part 1

2019年に大阪の三島のアトリエで行われたインタビュー。
聞き手：島敦彦（国立国際美術館館長）
三島喜美代(1932年大阪生まれ)は現在、陶による彫刻作品を作る作家として知られている。ビン、飲料水の缶、果物がはいっていた段ボール箱、ちらし等々、いわゆる日常で発生するごみをモチーフにして陶の彫刻を制作してきた。
インタビューでは、三島の生い立ちから、絵画制作を始めたときのこと、絵画から立体作品への移り変わり、東京の南画廊での個展等を回想する。大阪のアトリエや、土岐市のアトリエの様子も紹介する。

Mishima is known for her large scale ceramic sculptures based on daily objects such as newspaper, grocery boxes and handbills. Mishima told Shima her biographical story: how she started her artistic career as a painter in the 1950s, then shifted her style from painting to ceramic sculptures at the beginning of the 1970s etc..
