When I was in college, I had bumped into a book called Russian History in the library. Somehow it attracted me and I started to read. The very first character was Olga and then her son Oleg. Olga's relation with Constantinople especially enjoyed me because I born there and am still living (Istanbul)
This is another reason why Russia is attacking Ukraine! Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine! Olga (or really Olha) is not part of Russian history. Please be honest in your videos!
You are really a special kind of genius... >.< The "Kieven Rus" are not only just Ukrainians. There was no such thing as "Ukraine" back in the days. It's called "history" for a reason. Both "modern" Russians and Ukrainians share the same history. I haven't seen this content creator excluding Ukrainians, she just mentions "Kieven Rus". It's a part of Russian origin, just like it is a part of Ukrainian origin. Also idk what the history of "Kieven Rus" has to do with Russia attacking Ukraine. This is typical fascist interpretation of history by the russian propaganda machine since the very formation of Russia as ruscist empire. Russians learn this "history" from young age and form the opinion of clearing out other nations around them to achieve historic justice (the language is identical to Nazi usage of Aryan race).

Not Russian. Rus, yes. But at that time, the Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian nations did not even exist yet.
The cultures existed for CENTURIES regardless of what govt formed... Just because Poland ceased to exist many times in its history, doesn't mean Polish people disappeared. Don't fall for russian nazi propaganda of "same people". Russian people are not descendants of Kyivan Rus... NOT GEOGRAPHICALLY, NOT CULTURALLY, etc Their only connection is some Princes that ruled over their shithole state. By that "logic" you can call them Germans, because they were ruled by a German Queen as well...

@@pretol1 I was protesting against the title of this video, "Russian History", by stating that it is inaccurate to grant Russia a monopoly on the legacy and history of Kyivan Rus. At the time, no Russian, Ukrainian, or Belarusian nation existed yet. These nations would develop over time (like all other nations). Thus, Russia has no special rights or privileges when it comes to the history Kyivan Rus. That was my point. This is also, and in my opinion even more so, the heritage of the Ukrainians. Nevertheless, I would also avoid defining Kyivan Rus as a proto Ukrainian state as well.
@@pretol1 I also agree that the Ruthenians have a lot more claims to the heritage of Kyivan Rus than the Muscovites. Likewise, they are also contributors to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Nevertheless, I also consider Russia to share in the heritage of Kyivan Rus. Look at Novgorod, which was a democracy and a great city state before being conquered by Muscovy. Sadly, Muscovy is dominant in modern day Russia, thus the root of the problem in the present say.

You have to distinguish the people from the countries that formed. The distinction between the Ukrainian and Russian people (regardless of how they were named due to nations that they formed or kingdoms that drew lines on the grounds), and that distinction goes back CENTURIES. That is an indisputable fact based on language, culture, geographical, political differences. Just because a country stops existing, doesn't mean that it's people disappear. The word "russia" appeared as a country only 300 years ago, russians still existed on those lands, and same for Ukrainians. The propaganda of "same people" is a direct attempt at creating a "super slavic race" from the protoslavic "race" in the ruscism propaganda narrative with the fake history that ignores basic truth that "russians" as a nation didn't appear from descendants of Kyivan Rus, not from those people geographically/culturally. This is not supposed to be offensive, this is same story for Ukrainians and Polish, you won't hear this nazi same slavic people from the Polish, ONLY from the Russians. There's a reason why, and it's not pretty. And now you're really getting to the core of the russian nazism that has unveiled in Ukraine in all of its ugly "glory". And the nazi apologists are now pretending that this is not the narrative they were spreading (like the owner of this channel is directly doing).

More particularly that part of the story where you are mentioning Byzantine emperor Constantine VII and specifically the fact that you illustrated the narration (at 0:30 and again at 2:14) with a painting of Tsar Simeon I the Great (of Bulgaria).
This painting was made by Dimitar Gyudzhenov - a painter who chronicled Bulgarian national memory in his work. Currently, the canvas is on display in the Presidency of Republic of Bulgaria (the “Coat of Arms Hall”).
Please get your research the attention it deserves and try not to use any random (and probably misleading) illustrative materials in your videos - it may be offensive to some people.

Были древние города типа Пскова, Киева, Новгорода, Чернигова, Суздаля, между ними там всё это происходило. Часть этих городов сейчас в Украине, часть в России. Точно так же и люди все давным-давно перемешались за эти века
