I saw a doctor remove botfly larvae by smearing a thick layer of petroleum jelly over the hole which suffocates the larvae so it sticks its head out in about 15 minutes. Once they stuck their head out he pierced them with a needle and pulled them out. It might be easier and cause less injury than using forceps or a clamp inside the larvae hole. 🤷🏼‍♀️😢

From other videos I've seen, it's not recommended to use tweezers or forceps to pull the bot fly out because you could leave part of it inside. You also don't want to suffocate it to kill it either. They recommend using a little petroleum jelly over the entrance to make the bot fly feel like it's going to suffocate but it will be able to crawl out on its own. That means the whole bot fly comes out in one piece with no chance of leaving part of it behind.

@@dylanbateman7686 like I said before...... that's why you use the petroleum jelly. It blocks the bot fly's ability to get air and makes the insect crawl out to try to breathe.

Your talking about bot flies being removed but here we are watching a needle and thread being removed from a kittens mouth where it got stuck in the roof of it's mouth!!!! Exactly how does this relate to bot fly removal??!!

At approximately 4:50 what was being removed from the kitty was a needle and thread! I'm a vet tech and have had to remove this myself!
