Older guy playing since 70’slol..I’m 68 crossed yr channel..I had univox Les Paul’s or Ibanez in my beginnings … found it insightful..and entertaining…the aesthetics of some of these are pretty nice from a distance…I think these chibsons are becoming more formidable…as far as a raw project…it’s a great guitar for honing …basic wiring soldering skills …not too hard a harness putting in pickups …fret jobs grind polish maybe a bit of an experienced luthier is needed..nut…good set up..thanks for yr channel..🤙🏻🤙🏻😊🎸
The guitar plays perfectly in tune,on all notes. Parts don't need to be replaced if your setup is right. For example, you might think you need new tuners,but if you tighten screws and stretch the strings, tuning will be stable.

My Chibson plays like butter, better than my Gibson but yeah it was stripped down to the wood and let it dry for a year had my luthier do adjustments leveling and install all new parts BUT my Gibson sounds waaay better but one was $2300 and I have $500 in the other with case.

those chinese letters in bridge cavity straightly translate into english means "round small side"..? no any meaning i guess ,and the neck cavity one looks like a name " lam"..?
the tuners holes are way off centered. the one side is so close to the edge and the othe4r side is not. at least in the beginning of the video it looked that way
Its a tough choice choice.... Buy a Chibson or an Epiphone or a Burny... There's a lot of choice out there and with little exception you'll sink double what you paid for the guitar on upgrades and "fixing" the guitar then you ain't that far away from buying a "real" Gibson... but as long as you are enjoying the process who cares! you can't take them with you to the after life!!
It is true that replacing the hardware can push the chibson into the epiphone price range, however with a bit of skill you will have a far better instrument, and you will have done it yourself, which I would *much* rather have.
Just buy epiphone. At least they use mahogany and maple cap like a les paul should be. When you use cheap unknown wood the sound will be weird no matter the pickups. Plus epi's have nice set of pickups, grover tuners and much better fretwork and electronics than this chibson. For me the sound comes before "gibson" on the headstock.
My Chibsons are made of real Mahogony and maple and mine quilt top is a cap not a veneer. I have Chibson Lps, Epi LPs and a Gibson Custom Lp and I have one Chibby that I play way more than the others. It just feels and sounds better to me.

For the price of this thing around 350 shipped you spend at leat a hundred on decent pickups at least 75 for good tuners another 75 for a good bridge and 40 for pots and a switch you can just go buy a used epiphone 59
Yes but the pickups people put in Chibsons are usually higher output then Epi’s. The new Epi’s I like but the old headstock design, just looked unfinished.
So this bloke didn't mask the fretboard before he starts butchering the frets, binding, neck then has to spend time cleaning up the fretboard that he just messed up. He's "flattened" the neck with no string tension so now hes got a dip in the frets with the neck under tension. Why do these people post up videos when they clearly have no clue as to what they're doing?
It sounds like a $350 guitar ought to -- Tinny and shallow. Reviewing these Chibsons ought to never be done w/out comparing them with a real LP Standard, so that an untrained ear can hear the difference.
There is no comparison. I don't care what you do to a Chinese nock off. It won't ever be a gibson. China is putting made in America labor out of business because they work for penny's on the dollar & use shit lumber , electronics ,wiring even their steel is sub par. I have 5 different ones, Les Paul, Strat, Rickenbacker,SG, & Ibanez . I chose the wood I wanted, ebony fretboard or maple, the paint & color I wanted. I bought Seymour Duncan, Texas Special, Dimarzio & Seymour Duncan bass pu’s. Grover, Schaller for bass & guitar tuners, Switchcraft & CTS pots, bone nuts. I did good neck & bridge setups and overall setup for each. Each gtr sounds & plays better than the original ones at a hell of a savings. About $200-$400 cost per gtr!

The tuning machines and nut should be the first thing you should have replaced. Good job on the rest.

If your guitar is set up properly,tone wood is not a factor. All you will hear is a harmonious,in tune sound,with great tone.

Careful with the alcohol it can mess up the finish. Use lighter fluid. It won't hurt the finish
It's a Chibson with a thick plastic like poly finish, alcohol won't phase it.

Fretboard was hihhjin the middle because the truss rod was set when it had strings on it.

low frets in the centre after the strings were put back on?
