@Maxie i dnno i met gregg such a awesome dude, told him a joke that I wrote and he said before I told it " don't hate me if I don't laugh." I told it and he laughed. was awesome!
Bey"on"d Cinema? What a ripoff! Gregg is a Traitor to the On Cinema family! I really thought I could trust him. I really don't know what to think anymore. I will say though, that this movie sounds like a real 5 bagger.
Nice interview. The interviewer did seem a little intimidated, rightfully so, being around the film buff's film buff. Entertainment itself looks like an easy 5 bags of popcorn and 2 smashed drinks.
This film is most definitely not a comedy. That said it's more of a black-meta drama. I've rewatched this work of art on Netflix at least twenty times. The master craftsmanship that is used here is fascinating. Each detail is so precise and intentional it's actually refreshing to see such a well executed project of passion. Since I've seen it it's become my dream to meet Gregg Turkington and buy him dinner.
It's hard to believe that Gregg Turkington and Neil Hamburger are the same person, but the same could be said for Clark Kent and Superman; and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde;
+TheHooliganification Granted the movie is a bit of a dark comedy, did you find most of the movie to be comical or disturbing? The reason why I ask is the second time I saw this in a theatre with more people than the first, there were a group of people who laughed at the birthing scene in the bathroom, both at the events leading up and after. Maybe there was some intended comic relief at the sudden cut after the scene, but I didn't find it as hilarious as those who were laughing through out the entire scene.
Alex Butler I reckon it’d be a nervous release - that scene is pretty absurd and confronting, and because it was in a social environment, they were laughing for comfort.
Very competent and passionate interviewer, though certainly a little green. I'm gonna give her five bags of popcorn and two forlorn phone calls to an unseen daughter
Is there something wrong with Gregg's neck? In everything that he does he never turns his head, he just shifts his whole body. Still, I give it five bags of popcorn and one of those neck braces.
chris bellon Gregg has spent so many hours staring straight ahead at movie screens that the rotator muscles in his neck have atrophied. It's the mark of a true movie buff.
I actually found this video googling "What the actual fuck is wrong with Gregg Turkingtons neck". In more recent footage he is definitely injured severely in his neck, On Cinema and Decker are prime examples. Odd.
Gregg Turkington....the most out of character you will ever see him....and still in character. Genius. P.S He is actually Austrialian believe it or not....lol I give this 5 bags of popcorn with an extra bag of popcorn so you don't have to leave your seat.
I think this is the first video I've ever seen of Gregg actually being Gregg. So cool to see. Can't wait to see this film, and I'll be checking out Frank Junior's shit, too. Lol
there's a brilliant interview / candid chat with gregg and his wife on duncan trussel's former podcast, the lavender hour, where they discuss topics such as the film wild hogs
EJ ASHCRAFT I was gonna say it was "nice to see him out of character" too, until he started saying he was the "number one top Sinatra Jr. buff" with a collection of rare recordings, and he ran a website, etc. All in the same On Cinema matter-of-fact way, haha!
Not meaning to be a Gregg-head or anything, but I have to say he's sporting some svelte eyebrow work, ala Robert Duvall. Seriously. The brows are popin'
I can't be the only person who 100% believed I had heard the interviewer introduce us to the On Cinema studios. A million questions ran through my mind - is this some kind of rival to the undisputed master of independent film and analogue recording archiving over at VFA studios? Has Gregg stoppped by to lend some much needed expertise to these pretenders over at 'On Cinema Studios' with some kind of Q&A? And who is his new companion, he doesn't give off the vibe of a movie buff, which is something every seasoned buffer has a sixth sense for, and it has me worried that Greg is repeating old habits by pairing himself with musicians and druggies, he will have a Dekkar 4.0 reboot tribute band on his hands if he doesn't keep a close eye on this unshaven guy, who doesnt even look like's ever even seen Free Willy 3: The Rescue let alone knows the running time (a clasically sub 2 hour smooth 1 hour and 27 minutes, a real popcorn movie, family movie, and obvious five bagger) Be careful Gregg, even finding out it seems actually she said BeyONd Cinema and its completely unrelated, I had to warn you, one buff to another, part of the code of the buff brotherhood.
Is it possible 0:48 - 0:54 is a reference to OCATC & America's favourite movie/web-series, DECKER? "...two men's interpretation..., three, three men's interpret-...FIVE"
It represents the lowest form of pandering, crowd-pleasing entertainment - something with minimal technique and zero message, an act that is the quickest, easiest way to capture an audience's attention. A bit like the clown shitting into a hat earlier in the film.
Gregg must have had a c-spine fusion or something bc he never really bends his neck to the left or right more than a few degrees. Not up or down either, come to think of it.
miles travled for 7 shows rooms food gas exetera excetera total time performing on stage infront on strangers as the sad drunk sick clown 3 hours @ 25 min sets each. Now add up the take home pay...any sad dreamers want a job ? soooooooooo glam..NOT ! THATS ENTERTAINMENT !
you'd be lucky if his paid assassins didn't put a bullet in your pea brain, you PIG. that's okay though, we're all having a good time... we got a few more jokes, ladies and gentlemen. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!
Entertainment is not a good film. A perfect film for Sundance fest: alot of static frames, rare music bits etc. But a total lake of character motivation. The whole environment in this movie seems to be the depression of Neil subjectivity, but, if he is a downer, you never have any contrast with upper somewhere. I wonder during all the film "why people are interested to invite this guy?". I'm a depressive and I don't even recognize myself in Neil, because there is no outside of him into this world, he is totally connected with the environment and the result is this is boring.
I like Rick Alverson's movies because they make me inhabit the emptiness of the characters by showing them without a filter, people who are living only to live, to entertain or satisfy themselves, and how emotionally bankrupt and life-draining that existence becomes. I think it's hard to do that without either being heavy-handed in portraying a monster or leaning hard on an anti-hero/redemptive angle, too many writers and directors want the audience to see themselves uncritically in a character to legitimize that character's existence or journey, not many are as able to present them this fully realized or challenging.
When you got movies like Gregg Turkington in them - ya can't lose!
I thought she said “welcome to the On Cinema set”
gregg seems like such a sweet guy it's funny to see how polar opposite his onstage character is.
@Maxie i dnno i met gregg such a awesome dude, told him a joke that I wrote and he said before I told it " don't hate me if I don't laugh." I told it and he laughed. was awesome!
'Beyond Cinema, At The Cinema'
were thinking beyond movies
10:07 - Gregg's eyebrow raises and you know he's in the zone - world's biggest Frank Sinatra Jr. Buff.
Gregg is SO attractive. Biggest celebrity crush ever.
She was an absolutely genius interviewer here. Amazing job. Greatest questions.
This movie really blows me away. Horrible time in my life and I really needed it. Thanks mr. Turkington and Mr. Alverson.
Bey"on"d Cinema? What a ripoff! Gregg is a Traitor to the On Cinema family! I really thought I could trust him. I really don't know what to think anymore. I will say though, that this movie sounds like a real 5 bagger.
five bags of popcorn and a little microphone keychain to represent entertainment because thats what this movie's about.
Nice interview. The interviewer did seem a little intimidated, rightfully so, being around the film buff's film buff. Entertainment itself looks like an easy 5 bags of popcorn and 2 smashed drinks.
and 3 bar drinks*

I’m glad this interview exists, I’ve never seen Gregg not in character. For so long I thought his on cinema character was really how he was
This film is most definitely not a comedy. That said it's more of a black-meta drama.

omg thank you so much I didn't know this was on Netflix
Hobus Tobu
I love how it’s impossible to distinguish this comment from the ironic comments on Decker and On Cinema
This one's for the On Cinema family.
5 bags.
It's hard to believe that Gregg Turkington and Neil Hamburger are the same person, but the same could be said for Clark Kent and Superman; and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde;
Underrated movie, everyone will get it eventually in 20-30 years...

What movie it doesn't say anywhere
I could watch the ballet between Gregg's eyes and his eyebrows all day long
Lol.. it's so funny.... Gregg Turkington from On Cinema At the Cinema is on Beyond Cinema.
its on cinema at the cinema on location on beyond cinema
Very competent and passionate interviewer, though certainly a little green. I'm gonna give her five bags of popcorn and two forlorn phone calls to an unseen daughter
Why do I get the feeling that Gregg does On Cinema On Locations in real life every day?
Gregg being normal! Ahh!!!!
Really charming guy too, I'm hardly surprised but it's still nice to see
Is there something wrong with Gregg's neck? In everything that he does he never turns his head, he just shifts his whole body.

chris bellon Gregg has spent so many hours staring straight ahead at movie screens that the rotator muscles in his neck have atrophied. It's the mark of a true movie buff.
chris bellon It's funny you mention that because this is the first time I've wondered that. I then scroll down and see this.
+mrleedra I genuinely laughed out loud at your comment. Great job!

I like the extremely loud white noise you guys added to the audio! very nice! relaxing actually.

Great interview. Dying to see this movie.
She's such a great interviewer! She hit every question I was also curious about.
Real good heart to it. This is getting the full five bags
I think this is the first video I've ever seen of Gregg actually being Gregg. So cool to see. Can't wait to see this film, and I'll be checking out Frank Junior's shit, too. Lol
yeah dude!! Can't find any other interviews, so 5 bags

+Beejor The Frank Jr thing isn't a joke! None of it! This is evidenced by all the Frank Jr memorabilia dotted around our home. - Mrs T

5 bags of popcorn and 2 boxes of wine.
Fantastic interview questions, thanks for this.
Good interview, the questions asked I would have wanted to hear answered.
Not meaning to be a Gregg-head or anything, but I have to say he's sporting some svelte eyebrow work, ala Robert Duvall. Seriously. The brows are popin'
You should be a Gregghead. 6 years later? What's stopping you?
just saw the film the other day. It's great. Gregg was there to introduce the film and did a Neil hamburger set afterwards. Great night.
gregg trying not to laugh at "beyOnd Cinema" lol
"Oh my gosh!"
I want to pull that collar over her head and give her a big hug.
Watching this late but great job with your question Meredith

Good questions, good answers, good interview.
anyone know when the public release is? big fan of Alverson's "the comedy", really excited to see Gregg in a leading role
Excellent audio, great job!
It took me quite a while just now to figure out what the title of the movie was. I thought Entertainment's was a general term for actors.
This interviewer is fucking adorable.
Film Academy 2 back to film school. Was. Great film they did together.
Get that audio fixed. Sounds like hell.
havent seen it but def. a 5 bagger
gregg looks fucking bomb
i want to see this so badly.
Is it possible 0:48 - 0:54 is a reference to OCATC & America's favourite movie/web-series, DECKER? "...two men's interpretation..., three, three men's interpret-...FIVE"
looking at the thumbnail of this video i was worried that Gregg had become friends with Dan Bilzerian
We're going beyond Cinema.
Movie's brilliant.
Can anyone explain to me what the White suit at the end of the movie means? I quite didn't get the explanation is the presentation. Thanks!

Great movie!
what's the fucking film called????
DomestikMC oh it's called entertainment cool
Hey guys
Gregg must have had a c-spine fusion or something bc he never really bends his neck to the left or right more than a few degrees. Not up or down either, come to think of it.
Boy, you would think they would include the name of the movie in the description
Where can I watch the trailer?
12:08 gregg suddenly stares into my soul
I really want to see this film but it's not available anywhere.
a little weird but very cool to see gregg as himself
I wish somebody would say the name of the movie so I can watch it.
@@balloonfiesta15 It’s called “entertainment”?
HI GUYS!!!
Hey Gregg didn’t say “Hey guys!” And he didn’t even comment on how they ripped of the On Cinema family.
First Decker gets ripped off and now On Cinema
What an amazing interviewer! :) Whats the film called?
Yeah, I was also puzzled a bit, but that's indeed just that: "Entertainment".
Cool audio
aw, she's a baby
Two Lane Blacktop 👌 great taste
What movie are they even talking about? I can't seem to find anything online about it.
Why didn't you ask Tim to be in the movie?
They were having a fight
M CJ he’s in the movie
Name of the movie would be helpful
Also running time, please
I can't tell if this is an interview or a 'bit'
This movie is one of the most liminal, depressing and thoughtfully made indie films. ... this is a 5 bagger, with 2 sodas.
what is the FUCKING NAME of the film ? ? ? ?
MOVE YOUR NECK GREGG GODDAMNIT
What's up with the white noise?
When did Neil Hamburger get contacts? And when did Christian Bale become homeless?
I think the interviewer was in ricks other movie the comedy

What film are we talking about here?
Hmmm, 5 bags of popcorn annnnd 2 sport jackets.

IDK if you're being facetious, but it's called Entertainment. It's really good and on Netflix.

Meredith "Vocal Fry" Alloway
+mslvc2011 Who gives a fuck? She really watched the film and asks decent questions, which is better than a lot of interviewers.
+mslvc2011 Closer to "pornstar" accent actually.

Rick Alverson is such a hack. Takes his post-modernism so seriously, it comes across as mean. Gregg's writing saved this film.
Entertainment is not a good film.
