12:45 This one also exists in English, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". Its first written use was in a 1385 poem by English poet Chaucer 😊 Who knows, maybe the English picked it up from th Arabs - or vice versa! As for my own country Belgium, we have lots of proverbs but the younger generation (me included) don't use them a lot anymore and the ones we do use don't have this moral element as much anymore. But I learn a lot by listening to my parents and grandparents 😊 For example: "After the calf has drowened is when they fill the ditch." (= In Belgium there are a lot of holes in the landscapes which is pretty dangerous for people and important farming animals like cows who could drown in them when it rains a lot. But nobody cares to fill them - only when the problem has already happened and the calf has drowened do people take action.) Or "He who wants to beat a dog will easily find a stick." meaning the person who wants to complain about something will always find a way to be negative 😁

aha, did not know that about the glass houses, there can't have been many around in Chaucer's time!

Wow! I love these proverbs and I love how close the proverbs could be between cultures. You are right! Maybe we borrowed it from you, maybe the opposite. But we ADORE using them lol 🩵

so many expressions are the same in English, have they spread? or are they so wise that we all end up saying the same?, but 'eggs in one basket' 'glass houses and stones', these must surely have spread. Love the video and the ubject
