I also worked for the State 18 years. I quit also. Was tired of dishonest coworkers. I started temp jobs and on weekends would sell at flea markets. My brother gave me a paperback book to read - Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow.
The thrift stores here have gotten so expensive that I no longer go in them. I still go to garage sales.

I don't snub thrift stores entirely, but in my experience, yard sales and estate sales give the lowest cost of goods, and usually the items are in better condition.
11:35 it's shuh-say-doe. In the 80s I had a friend in high school whose mom used that brand of makeup. Not sure now, but at that time it was strictly a high-end dept store brand.

Hate it when brands discontinue my favorite product! I used to love (30-40 yrs ago) the perfume called Andron by Jovan. They did away with it. Once I googled it; at one time I think it may still have been produced in a different country; but the price was outrageous. It's probably not produced anymore. I'll have to google it again; cause I'd probably buy it, no matter how much it costs if I could get my hands on that same scent!

Hey Tonya! I enjoyed this video. I think it's great that you make a living doing this! Quick story...A thrift in a small town where I lived would search items online and if it was something 'special' they would print it out and price it at whatever it was selling for online. Not great for re-sellers!!!

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile. I'm disabled and social security just isn't enough. I've done a lot of little side gigs to help supplement. This just seems like its very doable. The one thing holding me back is trying to figure out how to ship. Thanks for doing this video!!

Hi Tanya, I really enjoy these videos a lot! I’m not a reseller, I am my husbands caregiver now for a long time, due to a progressive disease that he has. I love to draw cartoons and lots of different arts and crafting, when I can, its my therapy i guess you could say. I really would like to try and make some money trying my hand at thrifting, Thank you for helping me on what brands to look for that are the best ones to find, because quite truthfully I only know a very very few. I just wanted to tell you something from my heart, You will always do great at everything you put your hand to, all because your an honest person with a big heart and a very kind and giving spirit.

I don't do this but love to watch it and maybe one day if I had the space and way to get around I would. I do have makeup I was reselling but after I moved I had to stop because some of these fools smoke in the building even through it's a smoke free building and I don't want anything subjected to it. I have a Poshmark and eBay store with vintage costume jewelry and I sell nothing. Must be doing something wrong. I check my prices so I’m not sure but thinking the vintage jewlery market has tanked
That is one category I’m not very knowledgeable about. I do know vintage does better on Etsy but I’m not on there so I’m not sure of cost.
There is a lady on UA-cam who has a doctorate and does videos on vintage including costume jewelry. Maybe check her out.

@@lisawalker8535I use a light box when photographing jewelry and glassware/pottery. It is very helpful for getting the clearest, most detailed photos. I only sell vintage and antiques on Etsy so it is important to have the best photos possible. I sell a lot of vintage textiles but they are too large to fit into the light box.
I was wondering how you determine your asking price on Ebay? I sold vtg clothes & lingerie, on ebay, back in the 1990's & 2000's. It was easy for me to set a price back then but I really don't know brands now. Do you set a price higher, the same or lower than comps? BTW I told you about the clear nail polish on jewelry 😊
Vintage clothes are usually harder but I just use sold comps on eBay for like style items.

@@DoubleTsTreasures I used to have the hook up there for consigning my own items. They’d limit how much each person could drop off but the owner gave me her number (I just checked and I still have it!) and she’d let me bring as much as I wanted. I used to love shopping the 99% off sale!
