I like Steve Brookstein and I like this song - I was pleased he won the first X Factor. A worthy winner and a shame his career never kicked on. You cannot tell me he's any worse than Leon whatsisname or even Shayne Ward in terms of voice alone. Came across as a real genuine guy

I met Steve this weekend at a service station. He was a diamond, a lovely bloke. He seemed in good spirits, he's singing, doing what he loves and not many of us can say that. I hope the man is happy within himself and has the character to understand that huge fame and fortune doesn't always fall to the good people. Look at Sharon. shes got huge fame and fortune and she's a total Wanker! Well done Steve, soldier on mate.

I blew Steve off in his tour van just after he made a pr appearance at Butlins when it reopened last March. He's uncut, an average length but has a good girth on him and a really thick head on it. Overall I'd have given his performance a 7 out of 10. I still have his number.

They think they've "made it" but within a year they turn around and the reality hits them that Cowell has used them as a one hit wonder for a Christmas cash-in and drops them back where they began and in the eyes of the public they will always be an "X Factor Winner Failure" and will never be taken seriously in the music industry again. Look at Steve, Shayne, Leon...Expect to forget Leona, Alexandra and Joe within 1-3 years too.

And he is a winner of X Factor and beat a group who are actually better singers than One Direction, in the final. The reason he isn't well known anymore is because he didn't sell his soul to Cowell by agreeing to just sing covers.

Music is all down to personal taste. Though I liked Shayne and I do like Leona, I prefered Robert. Steve remains my favourite artist ever. His album, 40,000 Things is superb. He eats, breathes and sleeps music and it shows. None of you know what he's doing now as you're not fans- why even bother to comment?

I disagree that it doesn't have anything to do with BMG. They did not promote Steve's album. Also, for some reason the media saw fit to criticize Steve for covers when that's all G4 did and a group like Westlife do. Methinks there were some background shenanigans going on and BMG did nothing to stop them. Steve is a really good singer, a inspirational performer and I'll go to his concert and buy his tapes anyday and anytime.

I think this man sank without trace because he had the nerve to confront Simon Cowell and try to steer his own career in a certain way. He had every right to do so, but the consequences of incurring the wrath of Cowell became apparent soon afterward. I must admit to feeling sorry a little for Steve, at least that title of winning the first X Factor can never be taken away from him.
I normally don't really like this X Factor sh**e but I have always like Brookstein's rendition of this song, a very soulful voice. And Steve had the nerve to tell Cowell where to stick it even though he paid for it in the end I guess.
