This song always lifted me up during my high school days. I struggled a lot with depression and this song somehow made me feel stronger. Thanks Will Young. I'm still listening in 2020 during level 3 lockdown in South Africa.

@chris myeni - Its ppl like you that bring ppl together. When individuals find the strength and courage to share painful experiences, it truly help others feel not so alone. Lockdown x3 in UK is really affecting ppl psychologically, I've never known so many ppl suffer with chronic depression and anxiety ( including myself). The stats before lockdown #1 was 1 in 4 ppl suffered with psychological distress, now its 1 in 2 ppl.

He left his twin brother to agonise in pain because of his mental illnesses. Young's similarly privileged brother killed himself a month ago. This is not a good man. This is privilege and personal charge writ large. This is a man conflicted who doesn't understand how to love and so his twin brother died.
This song sure helps after years of dating and being used, taken advantage of, lied to and dropped at a moments notice. For me, this song is not about a specific person, but me just stopping trying to find anyone that I can really be with.

This is what points out Will Young being a unique talent and WAY WAY more than another ex music reality show contestant. He has a rare depth to his talent.
I think people can be a bit too sneery about competitions and those who emerge from them. I mean Girls Aloud? Carly Rae Jepsen?
Talent will out, and sometimes it emerges from these places. And if this were the only song he ever performed it would be enough to justify the whole farrago (but just don't make me watch Simon Cowell!).

We, the audience, will always win because the greedy corrupt music industry NEEDS US and the talents more than we need them.
And they have lost a lot of their power and wealth due to their own egotistical dismissible of MP3s and the digital age.
THAT was a fatale mistake.
BUT music WILL always be in demand and that's WHY we win.
