actually the crop is kinda useful, but less useful than the ancient fruit, since you have to replant it every harvest, but you can just stuff it into a seed maker and grow it in your greenhouse year round
Fun fact, I actually got a living, went to put it on, and because I was playing on switch, I overshot by 1 joystick movements, and threw it away. And, to top it all off, at that time I didn’t know how rare it was and didn’t reset the day.

When I got the living hat, I showed it to my boyfriend like it wasn’t a big deal to me. He was freaking out, telling me about how rare it was. We were playing in a multiplayer farm and even got the trash hat shortly after that, both in spring of year 2.
So I was really curious and ended up calculating the cost and total profit you'd get if you actually did this without any mods. - it came in at a total profit (factoring in material and energy costs) of 242,297,480 gold. that 's a profit of about 3,780 gold per berry! Let me know if you want more details of specific calculations and such. It took up like 2 pages of a google doc, but I can try to consolidate! thanks
@@ShamyTheMage Sure thing! This is going to be a LONG comment though, so buckle up :) To start with, there's a few assumptions I've made for these calculations. they are: - Any items needed (materials for fertilizer, food for energy, the seeds themselves) are bought at regular market price; their costs are subtracted from profits -the player character is at level 10, with iridium tools, and all of the stardrops -sprinklers aren't being used -the space needed for all the crops is already cleared, but not hoed or watered. -there's enough time each day to water all the crops -there are no crows And that's that! The first thing I did once I laid down those rules was calculating the material costs for the seeds and fertilizer. looking through the video, he planted 64,095 crops- each seed would cost 1,000 g from the traveling merchant, so that's 64,095,000g for the rare seeds. The fertilizer recipe he's using makes 5, and requires 1 iridium bar(costs 1,000) and 40 sap( costs 2 each). In order to craft the 64,095 fertilizer needed, he'd need to craft the recipe 12,819 times- multiplying those costs, you'd get 1,025,520g of sap, and 12,819,000g of iridium bars. The next thing I calculated was energy costs, which took a WHILE. Even with all the stardrops, you can only get a max of 508 energy, which isn't nearly enough for all the crops that need watering- not even factoring in hoeing all those tiles on the first day! That means that we need extra energy- we'll be getting this from salads, which give 113 energy and only cost 220g at the saloon- they're the most cost effective way to refill energy. We have 64,095 spaces that we'll need to hoe on the first day. With the iridium hoe and level 10 farming, hoeing a 6x3 space (18 tiles) only takes 1 energy, so by doing the math we come to the required energy for hoeing all those tiles: 3,561. we can subtract the energy we already have from that (507- we don't want to become exhausted) to get 3,054 energy needed. dividing that by 113 isn't a whole number- we'd have to eat an extra salad for the last 2 energy- but it comes out to 27 salads for hoeing on the first day. now that we've done that, we can start calculating watering costs. unfortunately, we've already used a bunch of energy on the first day just hoeing all the tiles, so on the first day we won't be starting with full energy. Which means I have to calculate this twice, which SUCKS, but oh well. Starting out with the first day of watering- the iridium can with level 10 farming requires 9 energy to water a 6x3 (18) area. we're going to need to do this 3,561 times- this will require 32,049 energy. we can subtract 110 from that (leftover energy from the last salad we ate while hoeing) to get 31,939 energy. divide this by 113 and we get 283 salads needed for watering on the first day. luckily, the other 23 days of watering the crops are all the same. we take our 32,049 required energy, subtract 507 of the energy we already have, and then divide that by 113 to get our daily salad count of 280. Multiply it by 23 (once for each day) and you have 6,440 salads! then all we have to do is add up all the salads we need and find the cost. it's 27 salads for hoeing, 283 salads for watering on the first day, and 6,440 for all the rest, which comes out to 6,750 salads! each one costs 220g at the saloon, so we're paying 1,485,000g for our salads. Our last step is to add up all our costs: 64,095,000g for the seeds PLUS 1,025,520g for the sap PLUS 12,819,000g for the iridium PLUS 1,485,000g for the salads EQUALS... 79,424,520g in total costs! We can subtract that from the profit of 321,722,000g to get our actual profit: 242,297,480g. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I dont get it the sweet gem berry is such a good crop it makes me the most money out of all of them. Im growing them in the grrenhouse so i get around 250000g in 20 days.
the problem with sweet gem berries is that you can't really buy the seeds outside of the 2 chances per week from the travelling cart, so a lot of your berries have to go back into the seed maker and that loses you money compared to starfruit (oasis sells seeds) or ancient fruit (plant once and it makes fruit forever in the greenhouse)
@@tetrikitty1686 You can put them through the seed maker after your first harvest actually! what i usually do is half the lower grade ones (normal/silver) and run those through the maker for a boost in seed count before spring next year o:
Maid on Netflix is good, it's about a domestic abuse survivor trying to escape. For anime I recommend assassination classroom or kakegurui. For movies, my all time favorites are Coraline, the original Beetlejuice, and 9 (yes the last one is just the number 9).
If you’ve not watched them. Superstore and brooklyn 9-9 are great sitcoms i always watch when i’m down (alongside community) I know i’m 9 months late but i have to recommend them.
You didn't use a gold quality farmer's lunch to boost your farming skill to 14. You would have gotten an additional 14% (41% to 55%) iridium crops. For shame.
yess i love it, i've only seen the tv show, but i will watch the movie at some point cause i love jemaine clement's humour, he wrote the movie and tv show, and i bet he's really funny acting in it.
honestly sweet gem berrys would be pretty good if they were able to be turned into wine but in the time you can make 1 sweet gem berry you can grow 2 starfruits for 800g instead of 1k and then sell those for more then a iridium quality berry when turned into wine
But then you have to make the tons of kegs in order to do that. Like... I would do that with ancient fruit not starfruit. Cause ancient fruit doesn't cost you anything and keeps reproducing. And the fact that you don't have to make SGBs into wine is a plus for those of us who don't feel like making tons of kegs.
Sweet gem berries are pretty good, but quite rare. If you get them, don’t chuck them! they are pretty useful! obtain them by buying them of the travelling cart! 1000g per seed, definitely recommend throwing them into a seed maker (unlock recipe at level 9 farming) Only grows in autumn though, takes practically the whole season to grow, so get them of the travelling cart BEFORE that time! :3
Putting SGBs in a seed maker is sacrilegious. A regular one sells for 3000, so you've just spent 1500g and a month per seed. While I do agree that you should buy a few of them, they aren't a good crop. Neither is Starfruit, btw. Starfruit only comes out on top over ancient fruit if you age the wine (which you can do 378 times per year, which is nothing). Bottom line: 2 Rare Seeds (1 for the Stardrop, 1 to ship, so you can get perfection) Starfruit only while you're waiting for Ancient Fruit to build up. Ancient Fruit all the way.
@@DrZaius3141 I think SGBs are a good alternative for those of us who don't like mining all that much. (Seedmakers are easier to make than kegs.) If you are doing it purely to make the most profit, then ancient fruit is the better choice obviously. But if you're like me and rather just sell the fruit outright, than having to make tons of kegs (and if you want to take it a set further, make tons of casks to age the wine) SGBs are the way to go. Or you can even just keep planting SGBs until you can make enough kegs and seeds for your ancient fruit. Cause that also takes time to set up so SGBs can make you money in the meantime.

Id like to know the details
@@ShamyTheMage Sure thing! This is going to be a LONG comment though, so buckle up :)
To start with, there's a few assumptions I've made for these calculations. they are:
- Any items needed (materials for fertilizer, food for energy, the seeds themselves) are bought at regular market price; their costs are subtracted from profits
-the player character is at level 10, with iridium tools, and all of the stardrops
-sprinklers aren't being used
-the space needed for all the crops is already cleared, but not hoed or watered.
-there's enough time each day to water all the crops
-there are no crows
And that's that!
Our last step is to add up all our costs:
64,095,000g for the seeds
PLUS
1,025,520g for the sap
PLUS
12,819,000g for the iridium
PLUS
1,485,000g for the salads
EQUALS...
79,424,520g in total costs!
We can subtract that from the profit of 321,722,000g to get our actual profit: 242,297,480g.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

Quick tip for those who don't know : use the Tab key to scroll through your inventory
A show I'd highly recommend is Bojack Horseman if you'd like an adult cartoon that dives into serious subjects every now and then. The 1st season throws most people off, though I believe it's the weakest of the show in general. Despite that, the later seasons are great.
Tv recs: the good place and it's always sunny in Philadelphia
The Good Place is a really good show.
Dude I love community so glad you do too!
The money counter in the top right didn't break it simply didn't have enough digits to display the full amount.

Sooooo.... you didn't eat Qi seasoned Farmer's Lunch?
I've been watching Dark on netflix. It's a german time travel drama that is extremely confusing and extremely intriguing.
This reminds me of old dangerously funny content
“I’ll probably check the wiki” that’s my motto right there
If you're into more dramatic TV shows, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are the best I've ever seen
i don't know if it's a compliment or not, but im using your videos instead of asmr. it's not that they are so boring that i can fall asleep, it's about your voice being so calming. and i end up watching your videos multiple times sooooo you're welcome, half of your views are mine /half joking
Definitely a compliment
that "candle" is a Fez

how dare you throw away a living hat
7:46 ima summon the dnf community
Community is a 10/10 to me and another show I enjoy is Superstore. Not as good but I think it’s still great. Gets better as you go on imo
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a show I didn't think I'd enjoy but I'm addicted now. It's on Hulu. Great video, I love insane money schemes!
The hat on the pig’s head is a Fez
I dont get it the sweet gem berry is such a good crop it makes me the most money out of all of them. Im growing them in the grrenhouse so i get around 250000g in 20 days.
the problem with sweet gem berries is that you can't really buy the seeds outside of the 2 chances per week from the travelling cart, so a lot of your berries have to go back into the seed maker and that loses you money compared to starfruit (oasis sells seeds) or ancient fruit (plant once and it makes fruit forever in the greenhouse)
A greenhouse full of ancient fruit into wine makes me 240,000 every 2 weeks
@@boblobgobstopper13214 im working on getting more ancient fruit. I have one planted and am waiting for it to grow.
@@leonschaub7414 it's a slow start but the literal fruits of your labour are well worth it 💰 always stay on the grind
@@tetrikitty1686 You can put them through the seed maker after your first harvest actually! what i usually do is half the lower grade ones (normal/silver) and run those through the maker for a boost in seed count before spring next year o:
arrested development and community got me through the second lockdown
fr called the traveling merchant "he"????

Maid on Netflix is good, it's about a domestic abuse survivor trying to escape. For anime I recommend assassination classroom or kakegurui. For movies, my all time favorites are Coraline, the original Beetlejuice, and 9 (yes the last one is just the number 9).
If you’ve not watched them. Superstore and brooklyn 9-9 are great sitcoms i always watch when i’m down (alongside community) I know i’m 9 months late but i have to recommend them.
I love how it's like: 1000000 iridium quality
34 regular
To think it could have been even more crazy if he used qi seasoned Farmers Lunch(I hope that this is the correct one).
Man's really forgot to eat the food that increases farming level.
You didn't use a gold quality farmer's lunch to boost your farming skill to 14. You would have gotten an additional 14% (41% to 55%) iridium crops.
For shame.
The living hat has a 0.001%.
That's one in one hundred thousand
can’t believe Lisa Simpson is a Disney princess now
the good place is one of my favourite shows, very binge worthy
Waligug, I highly recommend Bojack Horseman. It’s probably the best show I’ve ever seen, but it’s an emotional journey.
what we do in the shadows (the tv show and movie) are both really good mockumentary style show
yess i love it, i've only seen the tv show, but i will watch the movie at some point cause i love jemaine clement's humour, he wrote the movie and tv show, and i bet he's really funny acting in it.
honestly sweet gem berrys would be pretty good if they were able to be turned into wine
but in the time you can make 1 sweet gem berry you can grow 2 starfruits for 800g instead of 1k and then sell those for more then a iridium quality berry when turned into wine
Also sub to @Waligug
with kegs starfruit or ancient fruit will make you wayyyy more money.
Bottom line: 2 Rare Seeds (1 for the Stardrop, 1 to ship, so you can get perfection)
Starfruit only while you're waiting for Ancient Fruit to build up.
Ancient Fruit all the way.
@@DrZaius3141 I think SGBs are a good alternative for those of us who don't like mining all that much. (Seedmakers are easier to make than kegs.)
If you are doing it purely to make the most profit, then ancient fruit is the better choice obviously.
So you go the Living hat at 1:04 if you go to 1:04 you can see it on the side where the stuff his gathering you can see it :)
oh yeah! thanks
You getting a living head reminded me of a savefile where I got one on spring year 1
Unfortunately the savefile corrupt..
big reward big risk XD
that's rare? ever got 2 fairies, a meteor, ancient seed X2, stone owl and a dino egg IN YOUR FIRST YEAR AND SECOND FULL PLAYTHROUGH?!?! yeah me neither but somebody has
I got that it's my first time playing in year 1 I had no idea how rare all that stuff is
@@amiracles5902 all of that? you sure? cuz for my example i have proof and you have none.
@@someadamguy386 well I was playing with a friend so that's how I got 2 ancient seeds the rest my farm is proof. I was excited by these events so I clipped them

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are both amazing shows
The traveling merchant is a girl
“Oh my inventor- *OP*”
Based on the shows you said, I think you'd really like "Psych" with Dule Hill and James Roday. The Pilot episode is a bit slow, but after that it gets really awesome!
Psych is legendary! Worth a watch for anyone
You should have had a farmers lunch with QI seasoning, this way you'll have farming level 14 for 0, ZERO, normal quality sweet gem berries.
I saw a short that said farming for 1 billion Gold in Stardew Valley is one of the hardest things to do and couldn't comprehend how much work farming for it was until I watched this video.
You could do this 3 more times and still barely not have enough?? what the henk ????
A billion is a very very big number 💁🏼♀️
