Nepomniachtchi’s Bishop is a Beast - 2024 FIDE Candidates

- Опубліковано 5 кві 2024
- Featured is the dynamic chess game between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Alireza Firouzja from Round 2 of the 2024 FIDE Candidates. After 16 moves in a Ruy Lopez, Berlin Defense we observe multiple imbalances. Nepomniachtchi allows Firouzja to destroy his kingside structure and win a pawn in exchange for obtaining an extremely powerful light-squared bishop. Jerry, you are simply leagues ahead everyone else in the commentating game.
Can't agree more. I learn best from Jerry
PowerPlayChess !
Thanks to Jerry's fine videos, I played in my first tournament on Lichess and didn't come in last place.
Was waiting for you to post anything during the candidates, always a pleasure 🙏
Thank you for watching. 👍
Best commentator in chess - always excited for your videos once the Candidates season comes around!
I agree
Altho im excited year round
Jerry, please cover as much candidates content as possible!
ChessNetwork and Jerry is the only chess content I regularly follow and watch. The very best!
absolutely same here.
Hey Jerry, big fan of your channel--you helped me improve my ELO quite a bit.
However, when you're covering a variation such as a hanging pawn or piece that is poison, *please please please* explain why it is poison *first, before* you go over the deeper ideas behind the gambit of that piece or pawn. The deeper ideas don't have any bearing whatsoever if either side just blunders a piece, so I think you should save those for *after* you discuss why the piece or pawn was poison.
You used to do it in that order in your older videos, but in your newer videos you started going into massive detail on the deeper ideas before showing the reason why the pawn/piece is poison. The result is some players would be scratching their head wondering "wait why can't you just take it" until you eventually get to the reason why it's poison.
Love your videos, you're one of my favorite educational chess channels out there alongside The Chess Giant, HangingPawns, and Daniel Naroditsky.
But these deeper ideas are the reason the pawn is poison, what do you mean?
@@georgederleres8489no they are not you dont know what he is reffering to
This commentary style is perfect. Crystal clear, no frills, calm and focused.
Please put analysis of ongoing candidates, esp the games producing results !
Funny thing to notice but it's just how my brain works sometimes.. There is 1 major piece that never moved. White's Queen side Rook.
Nepo bishop in candidates 😊
Nepo bishop in world champ match 💀
Waited whole day for your video covering candidates tournament game and finally .. the wait is over. Thanks jerry.
👍
Jerry, I am amazed how clearly you pronounce "Nepomniachtchiy"
Thanks. I’ve had a lot of practice in covering his games from the past 2 world championships. 😎
Hey Jerry, your recaps are simply the best ❤ please keep uploading.
I don't like someone yelling 'the rooooook'
thank god someone said this
Wow!! I always learn so much from your analysis because you focus on the most important aspects of the position. Would you please clone yourself so can do these more often? lol
Jerry actually explains the nuances of the position.
Crazy day in the candidate's! Great game review as always
what is your audio setup? Your audio quality has always stood out to me
The first game I've watched from this cycle's candidates! Such a great game and as always amazing commentary
Thank you for this excellent review of Candidates 2024
Beautiful game, stellar commentary
Great analysis, Jerry.
Thanks again.
This is great for some reason this candidates there a few commentators I like covering
Allways a pleasure to hear your "cool" voice and commentary. A really sharp game, when Neppo could show his best chess in an open position, sacrificing a pawn and accepting a smashed position infront of his king to dominate blacks knights on the queen-side and remaining with the bishop pair. Regards from Slovakia.
Thanks a lot, Jerry, good stuff!
My love from Jordan 🇯🇴
From Jordan also ❤
Small world 😎
Great analysis
Thanks, was missing you
Thanks for your analysis!
That was fun. Thank you.

Powerful performance from Nepo.
10:16 I assume you meant 30 minutes
Wow, you get 30 seconds on your clock and a 30 minutes increment
thankyou jerry
10:18 you must've meant 30 minutes, right? :)
Good ear, and yes! Thank you 😎
Jerry, please make some more meditation videos 😂
Thank you for the video, Jerry! BTW, Please add tale of the tape like you did before)
Great game by Nepo
Jerry is the Master Shifu ( Kung fu panda ) of chess
Awesome game
Thx Jerry
Instead of move 33 Re8 to bother the queen, what about Kc4. If Bxc4, Qxe4+. The beast b2 bishop will have to get off the diagonal or get taken.
Hi Jerry.
@chessnetwork man please do this whole candidates. I follow all biggest chess channels but you are the best!
Hey Jerry!
Hey Chef! 😎
Sorry for ruining 420 likes by liking.
Lets go Jerry.
10:18. 30 minutes!
I would have played 19…RQ1: At least it gets Black’s QR in the game.
Nepo is the king of the Candidates. Not so much for the Final though.
NOT CONVINCING LOSS BY FEROUZJA
The commentators on the live broadcast are so bad it's hard to watch.
There are many broadcasts, I'm sure you will find one you like. Personally I watch Lichess broadcast with GM Sadler and IM Sukandar
This is a very bad position for Ian. Badly played. Doubled isolated pawns ? A blocked dark square bishop ?
Ian won.
There is such a thing as "positional compensation". Having the white bishop pair in a semi-open position that can easily open up, open lines towards the black kingside for rooks and bishops, and having the black knights out of position and in control can compensate for the the positional deficits.
I mean, give this position to Tal and he would have a field day.
Concrete Chess
regarding the title, 'thats what she said'.
@14:00 What makes a GM a GM?
a dude who plays unknown position without blundering in 1 move while having > 10 minutes to think.
if you think for 17 minutes for and didn't consider QH5, then unfortunately, you are a
Are you playing in the candidates this year? What's your rating? What chess title have you got?
If you answer to those questions is "no", "less than 2400", and anything other than GM, then you really are in no position to be judging someone who's a top 5 player in the world. You just sound like a hypercritical keyboard warriortyping from the top of Mount Stupid of the Dunning-Kruger curve.
